« Great boast, little roast! »

It would’ve been very good if only there were no discrimination between the guests in terms of breakfast. My booking included breakfast and at the hotel we were told we were entitled to ‘Express Breakfast’ and not the Buffet which is how I always defined breakfast at all the hotels I ever stayed around the world (Asia, Middle East & Europe). Not knowing what Express breakfast actually meant, we went in the next morning and were taken aback by being served a small tray with a small glass of juice, two croissants, a small quantity of plain yogurt, a piece of fruit and absolutely rubbish tea/coffee with cold milk! The breakfast is never complete without eggs and a selection of bread and butter and/or jam. But you seemed to lack this understanding. We came back almost as hungry as we went in. To add insult to injury I was charged CHF 25.80 extra for that ‘excellent’ breakfast when I checked out! Luckily I happened to check the electronic invoice during lunch which shocked and infuriated me even more. I went back to the hotel to pick my luggage and talked to the guy at reception. He seemed confused and hesitant to accept the mistake on their part but finally agreed to return the amount.

I stayed with you 13 nights and gladly I remembered to ask myself to join the hotel club as no one at the reception suggested it to me. I was given a room with two double beds and very little other space. I would have appreciated if I could have had only one bed and instead sofa and more space but I guess this was not possible or my booking did not allow it. For longer stay customers, it would be good though if you could provide also an iron and a bath rope. Also I needed to ask separately for my glass to be changed, this could been done every day instead of using carbon mugs.

I am a platinum member and came to the hotel early after an overnight flight from Canada. My room wasn’t available, which was fine. However the room I was eventually given had HVAC equipment issues and was making loud noises all night long. I was unable to sleep at all. Front desk told me at the time, there were no rooms left to move to. So I was unable to sleep at all. The next day, they were nice enough to move me. However, when somebody flies across the Atlantic to spend only two days in Europe before heading back home, every night of sleep counts. Furthermore there was no compensation offered for getting no sleep due to equipment issues in the room.

Got to hotel and there was a mixup on rooms as my confirmed room had been cancelled with no notification to me. Guy at reception was amazing!!! I was upgraded to an alternative suite and was luckily sorted out quite quickly.

The gym/fitness was insufficient for a workout - I was expecting to have a better range of equipment - or even weights (above 10kg). I would advise that you should make a partnership with the gym down the street / offer a reduced rate for your guests that want to use - if you don't have plans to refurbish yours. Single use plastics - including your cotton buds should be banned - these are not environmentally friendly and as a leading hotel you should of already eradicated these from your establishment - its 2019! Staff were all very friendly - including all the members at the breakfast - it was a great start to my day, there should be more dairy free options / I do understand you have gluten free.

« Standard experience - perfume in the lobby/restaurant is counting negatively »

Good bed, room ok. The cleaning of the bathroom sink was not that good, but otherwise the cleaning was ok. In the lobby, restaurant and corridors there was a very heavy perfume scent, which I perceived very negatively. If you use this deliberately as an air refresher, then this is not working for me. I hate strong perfume and it affected my stay.

« I was almost cooked the room was so airless and hot »

The staff are lovely, breakfast was ok - decent coffee. But i got no sleep because the bedroom was airless, hot and the air con just made it hotter. It was so uncomfortable that at 1.30 in the morning I phoned reception and they brought up a fan, which made it tolerable but not comfortable. I complained in the morning but was not offered any redress. I will never stay in a Novotel again. I put a review on tripadvisor - not good!
