On arrival there was confusion from your staff and they only checked us into one room, it took some time to locate the second room. We had two rooms, both of which had stains on the carpets. We had to ask for extra toilet roll as there was only half a roll in one room. We stayed for two nights and would have expected the maid to clean our rooms, unfortunately only one was done. We were disappointed that we were charged £2 per bag to look after our baggage whilst we attended a conference on the day of checkout.

« My £850 room »

I stayed last weekend for my stag in portland street manchester. I kept recieving emails from Ibis advising me to use the quick and easy method of online check in. So i thought stuff it... may aswell speed the process up. So i got 2 rooms checked in out of 5, giving my card details, as it advised it would hold them for the room rate to be deducted as i left. The 3rd room i tried to check in it wouldnt let me. Confusing! So i get 2 emails, and have a look at them... £330 taken for each of the 1st two rooms. Not held, money gone from my account. Not only did it say it wouldnt take any money from your account until you leave. But it certainly didnt mention anything about £330 when the rate was £190. £140 incase i buy something at the hotel. Wise up!!!! You are a budget hotel ffs!!!! Anyway... i contact someone who advises me it has been cancelled and we can all pay when we arrive. Which is fine... except for 1 thing... we are now 7days on and not only did i pay £190 for my room when i got there... But the £660 taken last week still isnt in my account!!!

Rooms clean, staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms at front are noisy because of traffic but quiet at the back .

« Comfortable stay in relaxed environment »

This was different to any hotel that I have been in due to it's informal and relaxed approach. Reception staff checked you in via mobile phones - were generally wearing casual cloths and only a small badge or lanyard marked them out as Ibis staff . Reception was a very small consol table with staff standing near it - no real "desk" as such, and located in the bar area. I arrived in early evening and the music in the bar although not deafening was somewhat off putting when trying to check in after a long journey. Although I gave my full name I was referred to by my first name - whilst another guest also checking in was referred to by title and surname. On check in I was told that I had not booked breakfast and I could add it - I had to show the reception staff that on my paperwork breakfast was actually included in my stay and I should NOT have to pay any extra - this was quickly rectified but I was disappointed that my booking details were not correct in the first place. I got to my room on the 4th floor only to find my key did not work - trailed back to reception to have it re-activated and it worked second time around. I asked for a quiet room on high floor - that's exactly what I got. The room was bright and nicely decorated with the fixtures in good repair. Room on the small side but enough space and in keeping with other city hotels in this price bracket. TV, hairdryer, kettle etc all worked as they should. Bathroom was pleasant, clean and the walk in shower was great, I prefer these to showers over baths. Nice fluffy towels changed each day as was bed linen, the bed was very comfortable and I slept well. No drawers to put your stuff in - which I would have preferred - minimal space in wardrobe and only one small shelf that I could actually reach - for a short stay on my own this was OK. Breakfast was served in the bar area - with no formal dining area it was a case of sit where you could find a space - this was OK when there was plenty of space, but not so pleasant on one busy morning where there was a lack of chairs and people due to check out had luggage strewn everywhere. I can see how this system maximizes the use of space, and prevents a formal dining area being left unoccupied for lengthy periods, but for me personally it felt a bit awkward and uncomfortable. The breakfast itself was very nice - plentiful and good quality food, perhaps not the biggest range of options but as a consequence that means less wasted food - which is preferable. All things considered I had a pleasant and comfortable stay.

« nice stay close to the centre »

My sister and I arrived early in the morning and we were greeted by a friendly staff member. Our room wasn't available at that time but we could leave our luggage in the storage. The room was spacious and had everything you need for a short stay. If there weren't enough towels or pillows you could ask the staff. Breakfast was not very extensive. On the first day there was no cheese. They only serve coffee and tea, no chocolate milk. Overal we had a nice stay.

« Very satisfied, nice staff, room, and nice breakfast. »

Very nice stay, only one minor detail was I requested that my room be located in a quiet part of the hotel on an upper floor with a view, but my room was facing an alley between building and was very noisy.

« Great hotel - had everything I needed/wanted! »

I stayed for 1 night because I was attending a Midweek football game (my beloved Brighton away to Manchester City), this hotel had everything I needed/wanted. It had a kettle in the room with tea (which for me is an important feature), comfortable bed, a good shower and a TV (although I didn't watch it, it's still nice that it's there) as well as the desk etc. This is the 3rd city that I've Saturday Ibis in (Brussels, Budapest and Manchester) and I really like it.

« Different »

I do think you have go a little too relax or funky by not having a reception desk or pod of some sort. It is very confusing going in and knowing what to do. It is a little disconserting when someone just comes up to you especially as you have no uniforms. The rooms are fine if not a litle noicy in a town centre.

I paid for early check in for 9am but I arrived at 7am and I was just checking if I could leave my bags but the gentleman at reception let me check into my room early which was very helpful.

« Leuke kamers, vriendelijk personeel, value for money »

My second stay at this hotel. Rooms are great, breakfast food is good, but the seating is horrible...Staff is nice but awfully young, it feels as if the hotel is run by a bunch of kids. I missed a bit of maturity...

All in all it was a very comfortable stay. I deducted 3 points for the room having no iron. This was very frustrating and I wouldn’t stay again if I had to walk to a communal area to iron
