The booking had accidentally been made on the wrong weekend. I ended up having to pay twice as there was no flexibility. I was more than happy to pay something towards resolving the issue, but this was not accepted. Very disappointed with the whole thing, and will not be using Novotel again

« Some issues at checkout »

I was scheduled to stay Aug 19 to 29, but due to flight cancellation, I was stuck in Vienna. I called the hotel at around 9pm on Aug 19 to advise that I will not be arriving as expected and will be checking in on the 20th instead. I was told that I would still be charged a no-show fee which I understood and agreed to, and that I was okay with it but wanted to ensure they would not cancel my booking. I was assured my room was guaranteed. Unfortunately, when I arrived on the 20th, I was told that my room had been given to another guest that had checked in earlier and that I was rebooked at another hotel about a kilometer away. I was very unhappy about this as my other colleagues were already checked in the same hotel and being 7 months pregnant, I did not want to walk 1km everyday to meet up with them because I was in a different hotel. They were unable to resolve this issue until a colleague offered to swap his room for mine and he ended up being checked in at another hotel. It was a very frustrating experience as I had already advised previously that I would be checking in a day late and wanted to ensure my room was guaranteed for my stay.

« It was just perfect, without counting I got cold. »

Everything was perfect except the blanket was too warm for the weather and room temperature. It causes I was sweating under the blanket, or freezing without which ended in a cold. So I left the hotel sick.

« It was an acceptable stay, nothing wrong but equally nothing exceptional. »

Strange to have a toilet with no immediate washing facilities meaning you have to walk from toilet to separate bathroom to wash. Default setting in room was too warm. Gym facilities very limited. Breakfast selection reasonable, though option to have fresh food cooked would be nice as an alternative to food being kept warm by a heat lamp. Overall a satisfactory stay.

Within 1 minute of numerous restaurants and 3 minutes from the Grote Markt and Saint Rumbold's Tower (which I urge you to climb). Mechelen is a lovely city and this hotel is your base for exploring it. 15 minute walk from the train station.

« Hotel was overbooked. Having given away to some one else the 2rooms booked for 2 nights »

Mr Y. and Mr Nishisako had to move to another hotel the first night of their reservation at Novolel Cenrtrum Mechelen (Holiday Inn) as the NOVOTEL was over booked due to a tech problem, as reception claimed. Only the next day they could stay there for the second night reserved. Very unprofessional behaviour and the apologies given not really satisfactory. We were expexting that the issue wiould be dealt from a higher managerial level as Mr Y. Tsuyoshi is CEO of NIPRO EUROPE GROUP C. an interlational Pharmapack and medical devices company.

Stayed around 12 nights over the last couple of months and planning on staying a dozen or more before year end, staff always welcoming, breakfast choice excellent, bar meals very nice and tasty, lots of choice at the bar with a great selection of gins, Mechelen is a wonderful city and well worth a visit.

« Quiet, clean friendly and reasonable price. »

We stayed for just one night in a family room with plenty of space for the three of us. We arrived by train with the hotel a 20 minute walk from the grubby station. We were met by the helpful and friendly man on reception and then directed to a quiet and comfortable room (the hotel is tucked off a Main Street with little traffic. The breakfast was relaxed and excellent. Don’t let the condition of the station put you off. We found Mechelen to be an attractive town, convenient for Brussels airport and Centre.
