Starting in a positive mode. Check was welcoming and easy. I had done online check for 1 night, which was our intended stay. However getting sorted earlier j arranged to stay the previous night. Not a problem. I'm afraid it goes downhill from here. There is only 1 lift, it has to be the slowest lift that I have encountered. On getting to our room, on the surface clean and tidy. Not so when you get into it. A pair of socks at the rear of an open fronted shelf unit. The water pressure was none existent. A huge crack in the dividing wall between the shower and the rest of the bathroom. The bathroom door would not stay closed and the lock was missing. Getting a drink from the bar consisted of one staff member getting another staff member to get another staff member and 6.25 for a glass of wine is scandalous.

Room was basic as expected for the price but, the room was extremely smelly, couldn't tell if it was the toilet or the drains but it wasn't pleasant. When leaving next day noticed the lift was quite dirty with litter and didn't look like it had been cleaned.

Decor needed updating, room was a little tired looking. Lack of sleep due to room being too warm and the hairdryer kept cutting out, had to use my own phone to call reception for a replacement as their wasnt a phone in the room. Replacement hairdryer was bought upto my room within 5 minutes. Only paid £45 a night so the price reflects our stay.

Excellent Value. Bright clean room well sound proofed. This is an hotel we come back to regularly because of the quality and value for money. « Comfortable bed and breakfast good, but hotel in noisy - and dangerous - position and poor facilities in room. »

No issues with bed or breakfast. There was a badly-cracked mug in the room, no hand towel and very few milk cartons. (I asked for these matters to be dealt with and they were). There was no AC, despite the information card in the room telling us to 'stay cool'. When we opened the window, the noise from the extremely busy A road in front of the hotel made it generally unpleasant and difficult to sleep. (We had asked for another room on arrival and were moved from the first to the third floor, which was only a marginal improvement). Each time we left the hotel to walk into the town - which could be seen the other side of the roundabout - we had to cross multiple lanes of roaring traffic. When we attempted to use the footbridge from the retail park, it took us to the other side of the thundering A road behind the hotel and therefore was of no use.

It's manageable but it would have been nice if there's a means for air condition when the place is very warm. The cleanliness is not enough as I practically asked for my bedding to be changed every morning. And ain't convinced the flooring was hoovered all the days I spent

The soffits and facoas of the main building roofline needs replacing. Looks like they are wooden and are starting to fall apart. Especially at the back of the building. In my room looking in the shower extraction area was some strange mould build up. Look like it had never been cleaned.

Both of our families were like every year very happy with our stay in September 2019. The manager and staff, very obliging. One instance annoyed me, when I bought half a shandy and the silly young woman on duty asked me if it was for my 8 year old grandson and she needed to know or she could lose her job. I found that irritating, but my husband diffused situation & made a joke of it saying 'no he' ll have the pint' 1)You don't upset a 68yr old respectable lady who she's buying a small glass of shandy for. 2)you treat guests with more respect.

recently stayed at the ibis chesterfield with my daughter. we walked into reception and it was really lovely and clean. the guy on reception as really helpful and polite. we went to our room to drop bags off and the room was nice and clean. everything we needed for our nights stay was there. had a drink in the bar area and the lady who served us was really nice and friednly and explained about taxis to us and what sort of price they may be. the bar area was nice and clean . the dining area was too. we didnt stay for breakfast but probably will next time. i would recommend the Ibis Chesterfield
