« Not as good as previous stays »

Satisfactory but not as exceptional as it has been for the last 5 years. Building work ongoing was annoying. Especially as no advance warning. Nearly got hit by items being thrown into skip outside from 3rd floor works. Hairdryer in bathroom not working but was repaired. No staff or a Shortage of staff in evening, when using the bar. Long waits and no apology. Ypres Winter welcome not offered.

« Enjoyable, relaxing & comfortable. »

We have stayed many times at your hotel & have never been disappointed. The last two occasions we have stayed whilst the building work has been carried out, this time it was more noisy due to the rooms we were in, but we are looking forward to the refurbishment, and will most definitely be visiting Ieper within the coming year.

« This was by far the worst Novotel experience I have had »

This hotel fell far short of Novotel's standards. To be greeted in room 126 by brown items floating in the toilet would not go down well with many. We asked to be moved to another room for the room to be thoroughly cleaned, we were told no other rooms were available. Whilst the toilet was cleaned we had to put up with brown toilet water all weekend. The toilet should have been replaced a long time ago. We asked to speak with a duty manager, none available -all weekend. Is this hotel really part of the Novotel brand and its customer satisfaction programme? We were told by staff that there is rarely any management on duty at the weekend and very little support during the week. If complaints are sent in writing to the GM they are all passed down to the front office manager. That implies there is an attitude problem and guests are nothing more than an annoyance! We note that the hotel is in the process of being renovated. There also needs to be a renovation in terms of management as well. Not good enough and way below standard. A policy of allowing reception staff to have the authority to make concessions should be in place in the absence of management. No offer of even a free drink or breakfast was forthcoming from anyone, indeed the front desk reception even forgot to call me back to check of the problem had been rectified. Please sort out this hotel it is not in line with the brand image or standards to customer care.

Everyone friendly and helpful. Accomodation comfortable except for construction waking me every morning at 7am, drilling banging and boring.

« A relaxing stay. »

The hotel was clean, bright and very central. The only downside was the very extensive building works that were going on leading to peculiar smells and dusty areas. At breakfast, which was good, you could see the dusty surfaces hadn't been cleaned.

« Nice hotel. Irritating refurbishment »

All very pleasant with two exceptions: 1) being woken by workmen in the room next door at 740. Receptionist could not have seem less bothered. 2) sitting in bar for 30 minutes and having to ask for service at reception. We were given the distinct impression that we were an imposition.

The hotel needs updating. Items in rooms are broken and damaged- cupboard doors don't shut, the wood had split on the wardrobe, the shower surround was chipped. Not value for money at all. The bed was also uncomfortable as I kept rolling towards the middle. Location is good, bar was good (as were the bar staff) but overall unsatisfying.

Room was tired and old and dusty. We were. Not told of any construction work and then woken by a loud drill at 0740. The workers refused to stop.

A pity that there was a constant smell of drains in the bathroom and WC. Also that the WC needed fixing (which must have been obvious from the previous guest and Cleaner. Superb breakfast and nice bar/ restaurant area. A shame there wasn't a little more choice on the "small" menu. Ok for a night or two but it did not encourage anyone to dine in. The food and service though was very good

Room was not ready until just before 6pm. Also, there were works in the hotel. I don't have a problem with that, except that they have put us in a room next door where the works at 7am next morning started. The manager next morning was very kind in giving us a reduction in price plus a gift. Great job from the manager. Big thank you!

« Room downgrade and only one comfy bed »

Booked a superior room for a two day stay with my son: we were visiting the battlefields around leper. When we arrived we were told that because of the building work being undertaken there were no superior rooms and we would have to take a standard one. The second bed was so uncomfortable my son ended up crawling in mine, I didn't get much sleep especially on the second night.

The location was brilliant, parking secure and cost was not an issue. Room was very clean and good facilities. Only one downside was breakfast added to our invoice when we stated at check in and when booking we would not be requiring it however it was removed with no issues at check out.

« A friendly Hotel perfectly placed to enjoy the sights & sounds of Yper. »

This was my second visit to this hotel & I would be likely to stay again if there is a price reduction at the time of a proposed stay. I did note that the bar now operates at reduced hours, but was much dearer than I remembered it - a mistake I feel when there are several bars within a couple of minutes walk at little more than half the price for a drink! The restaurant has a greatly reduced menu now & certainly I felt that 20 euros for breakfast is somewhat excessive. For all that, I will come again, but sadly will not eat or drink in the hotel.

« Mixed experience - some great, some bad »

Stayed 2 nights but woken up very early on first morning due refurbishment work! Was told hotel was quite empty so very disappointing to be given this room. Asked for change of room and no noise heard. Generally Very friendly and helpful staff
