This was our first stay at the Sopitel Grand Sopot and we weren't disappointed. We had booked a garden view standard room which was really lovely and spacious. The bed was incredible - I have never slept in such an enormous bed (8 foot I think) and it was soooo comfortable - complete with padded mattress topper (been out and bought one for my own bed this am!), a gorgeous duck down duvet and a whole pillow menu - unlike the usual rocks that you find in hotels! The only complaint was that the curtains did not block out the light properly as they didnt fit round so we found ourselves awake with the light coming through early morning (room 203). The other consideration for a rear view room is that the recycling lorry also comes incredibly early and that too woke us. Finally delivery lorries also arrive in the early morning so despite the double glassing it was a little noisy. But the staff and the whole experience were great and I would recommend.

« Really good hotel, but not 5 stars. Catering for conferences not individuals. »

I was tempted to book this particular hotel, as old world 5 stars treat. And this is where my mixed emotions are coming from. It is a really well-appointed hotel in a probably best location in Sopot, with really pleasant and very attentive staff. You should be not disappointed if you looking for solid 4 stars. For 5 stars it falls quite short. Classic rooms are quite small, higher than wider. Rooms are quite a cold with no temperature control inside (although the staff was quite helpful in bringing portable electric heaters). the communal areas are very limited and the 5-star hotel only restaurant was full of chaps in t-shirts drinking a lot of very expensive beer. The well-presented gardens were closed for individual hotel guests and the lawns were littered by speedboats. I take the conference for the dealers of speedboats was taking place, but normal guests had no place to relax and enjoy the evening, In summary if you are invited by the company for the conference you couldn't be in a better place, if you are looking for a romantic getaway in a five star hotel with all the facilities available for you, you are in the wrong place. All in all quite disappointing experience.

A very pleasing and relaxed four night stay in a beautiful location. BUT... Overall I was fully satisfied but there were small issues that a hotel such as the Grand Hotel might wish to eliminate. The welcome card in the room was addressed to another guest. The shower would not stretch to the topmost hook and the bath plug leaked water resulting in a constantly lowering water height. The music from the conference tent on some nights was unbearably loud even though I was on the 4th floor. On checking in there was no request to provide credit card details which caused me some embarrassment later in the bar when I could not sign out my nightcap t the room - it required me to be marched to Reception and a Duty manager to be called - all unnecessary. The levels of customer service across all staff were exemplary.

The experience itself was pretty good - from the way we have been greeted and treated upon arrival, through the impressive hotel grounds, great bar and restaurant area and friendly and helpful staff along the way. My single complaint would be around the size of the room, I would risk a guess that the bathroom was actually similar in size to the room (which is awesome for the bathroom, not that great for the room).

The room was overall very nice. -3 points for an incorrect room service bill that had to be corrected. I was initially 65zt for a Ratatouille that was 29zt according to the menu and I was also charged 79 zt for a stir-fried tenderloin that was 65zt according to the menu. When I complained, I got the bill corrected, but this problem should not have occured in the first place. -1 point for a housefly in my room. Total 6/10.

« A grand hotel must offer perfect service to be grand. »

I liked the hotel very much but 1) turndown service in the evening should be at 19:00, not 17:00; 2) there should be more than 1 barman/waiter in the bar at 19:30; 3) a grand hotel needn't have a "coffee shop" but it should offer a reasonably-priced continental breakfast of coffee, rolls and juice for guests who leave early in the morning for the airport.
