We all booked DB&B and all were given a voucher for dinner at check-in. Snag was some had a voucher for 3 course dinner and some of us only had a voucher for 2 courses. The waiter said it wasn't his problem and he could only offer us the number of courses on the voucher !! end of !! The bar was 'manned' by a young girl who did her best but she had to tend bar and help serve the other restaurant guests and she clearly couldn't cope. The air-conditioning didn't cool the rooms properly and the lady on reception said we should open the windows of our rooms! - snag was it was hot outside and we were overlooking the river so open windows attracted flying insects ! She said the room was hot because we'd had a shower and she refused to admit or understand that the aircon was faulty - all the rooms had the same problem. I was one of the unlucky 'customers' who was given a 2 course voucher, the fish of the mains course was nice but the dessert wasn't to my liking At checkout I complained and received a 10% discount, but I'd rather have had a cool room and a decent dinner.

A rather oldish IBIS, with a good central location in Nevers, I wouldn't stay for more than one night, unless for business reasons, but the staff was friendly and helpful. No problem for the free parking

It was a particularly good experience because I booked a privilege room en route to Nevers at a busy Aire. The member of staff was patient and recognised my name directly I mentioned it! Secure parking a boon too.

My wife and I are quite elderly and do like our comforts. After a long days driving from the South of France there is nothing better than to arrive at the Mercure for an overnight stop. Your staff are helpful, the restaurant food is great and always the rooms are clean and tidy. We always sleep well. What more can one ask for.

We chose to stay in Nevers due to its location on the Loire River. We were very happy with hotel location and staff were very helpful with suggestions regarding nearby tow s to visit. Room was comfortable and spacious. Restaurant on site was good quality.

« Very disappointed with Privilge room, A La Carte menu and wine list »

Due to my husband's mobility issues, we booked a privilege room as nearer to lift. We didn't get one of these rooms, we were as far away from lift as you can get, having to walk over hoover leads and dirty linen in the process. This was in the middle of the afternoon!! The room was an ordinary room with a single bath robe, not folded, hanging on the shower screen and had to search for Nespresso machine, very disappointing. We had recommended the hotel to friends, especially the restaurant. This turned out to be a grave mistake and an embarrassment!! There was hardly any choice, the A. la Carte menu was exactly the same as the Table D'ote menu, 2 starters and 2 main courses. On perusal of the wine list, most red wines were unavailable and our first 2 choices from the list were also not available. In the end we let waiter choose as the wine list had not been updated!! We have stayed here a number of times in the past and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we felt very let down on this occasion. Was it because we used some of our points for the room, or are you intending to downgrade this establishment, maybe to an Ibis styles? If this is the case, as in Calais, where you no longer have a decent hotel, we may have to look at alternative hotels.

Rest assured that we are taking the appropriate measures to address the problem. All our efforts are concentrated in preventing future occurrences. We have changed our Privilege rooms for the one which offer you a great view on the River. But, it is true, they are far from the lift. Do not hesitate to indicate us that you prefer a room nearby the lift. We are very surprise to read that you did not find the Nespresso machine because, after a check, there is one in the room 220. We are also very sorry about the restaurant and the wine card : our new Chief has changed the menu on the monday 24th of june and that can explain why there was some missings during the week-end. We have also changed the wine card. We propose you to offer you your next diner in our restaurant. You will be able to test our new menus! You will just have to show this e-mail at the front office during your next stay. I would like to reiterate our commitment to high quality standards, and I personally would like to make sure you will experience it during your next stay with us. I was left distinctly underwhelmed by the experience and grateful that I had only booked for 1 night. The hotel was quite dated and in need of some tender loving care. Having booked a Privilege Room it fell short of expectations as it did not have a room safe and blackout curtains (specifically described on web site) and only 1 bottle of water, 1 robe an 1 pair of slippers for 2 guests??? When I queried with Reception whether I was in the right room I was told yes however other rooms were clearly labelled Privilege and mine wasn’t??? Air conditioning in room struggled to cope with the outside temperatures and wouldn’t reduce below 24. Breakfast items were fine but then an engineer appeared in breakfast area no more than 2m from our table, set up a stepladder and removed a ceiling tile. Absolutely unbelievable! Upon departure we had to manoeuvre across cables at front entrance with no offer of help or offer to move out of the way. Plus points were ease of parking, breakfast food and bed comfort.

We have changed our Privilèges room recently and they do not all have the "label" on the door. We changed them to offer you the greatest view on the river Loire. For sure, they have all what is previous as the coffee machine, the robe,... and we are sorry that it was only for 1 person. Durng this 1rst week of July, we 've registered som temperature extremly high for our region. That is why our air-conditioning can't do better than 24° but it was more than 40° outside . Concerning the breakfast, we are sorry about the technical intervention : we are actually changing our wifi system and they need to equipe the entire hotel and restaurant. It is the only solution to procure you a better internet access. I would like to reiterate our commitment to high quality standards, and I personally would like to make sure you will experience it during your next stay with us. « Nothing special for a Mercure...except the price of course »

The hotel is a bit old. Externally and internally. Room was very small for three people and no soap on the dispenser of the bathroom. The small bad for my son (finally for me), was really uncomfortable and remaining space on the room was to narrow. Then...I am gold customer but I did have only one drink ticket and not two (one for my wife), I think that this is no at the std levels for a Mercure

Once again we were looking for a convenient stopover not to far distant from the previous nights hotel and as ever mercure at nevers was our favourite choice and this proved so even far as the fine reception and friendly staff ,plus a section of a 10 km race using the hotel to enter at the rear and onward up the stairs and out of the front reception entrance <all good fun

« Very pleasant experience »

We changed the itinerary of our return journey to avoid Bourges and the &quot;gilets jaunes.&quot; So it was pleasing to find the Hôtel Mercure in the red Michelin guide. The dinner in the hotel restaurant was excellent value for money and very well served. I include also the local wine, from the Giennois region, which was a most agreeable discovery.
