« Very friendly staff »

Stayed at this hotel for 6 days in august. The staff was so friendly and polite. There was no airconditioning, a lot of noise from Construction work, traffic and airport, but we slept like babies. The price was right. A bit of a ride on the DLR to city center. The hotel has a decent breakfast, but we stuck to the full english in the restaurant nearby. The Streeties pub in the area is a find, a traditional meetingplace for locals, greet visitors with kind words and interest.

« It was not the best but not the worst. »

The staff was pretty nice, always ready to help even at 3 am when our card suddenly stopped working, the hotel was clean, the only downside was breakfast where the buffet was really small.

There was loud music coming from an adjacent property that did not stop until midnight and with the planes starting to take off early (which we were expecting) the hotel was only quiet for about six and half hours. If you need more than 6 hours sleep give this a miss. The only good part was it was cheap, but we won’t be returning to this area of London to stay again.

« You get what you paid for »

The room was very basic, only 2 beds and a desk, when you used the shower the water went into the room. The beds were comfortable but as no air conditioning had to leave the window open, we had a very poor sleep due to people arguing in the car park, and the threat of calling the police at one point. But as I said you get what you pay for, the room was cheap for London and very near London city airport. Good transport link from London.

« Nice staff and rooms that you'd expect from Ibis. »

Near enough to Excel to be walking distance and the reasonable standard that you'd expect from Ibis. I've already booked again for a future visit so I guess that you could say I was satisfied - and you'd be right. OK, the rooms are not the biggest and the construction of the building is a little lightweight, so had we had noisy neighbours that might have been a problem, but we didn't, so all was fine.

Did not read specific requirements of extra towels/pillows given during online checkin Shower room floor dirty No air-con - room too warm, so window open, but then cigarette smoke smell from outside and made air cloudy inside Noisy until after midnight, someone taking phone call in corridor Noisy morning - thud as housekeeping hit hoover against door Woken up at 3am by smell of cannabis Hotel difficult to find from LCA But housekeeping did give extra towels/pillows when specifically asked for after checkin

We arrived late on the check-in day. Staff were present at reception and cheerful. I later noticed a missed call on my mobile, which I identified as the hotel, presumably checking if we were still coming. We were staying for one night, arriving around midnight and planning to sleep in the following morning (checkout was advertised as 12 noon). On the plus side: The room was cheap, clean and had everything that was needed for such a short stay on a budget. The reception was staffed and the building in a quiet location. The bed was comfy and linen / towels etc in good order. On the minus side: This isn't the fault of the hotel, but given its proximity to the airport, we were woken and disturbed at frequent intervals from early morning onwards by planes taking off. When we shut the window, this made a considerable difference, so the double glazing is effective, but the noise was still too great to sleep through. It wouldn't have been a problem if we were getting up early. The other issue was that - despite putting the 'do not disturb' hanging sign on the outside door handle to the room, we WERE disturbed in the morning by the lady doing the rooms, who knocked loudly and called out before entering the room. When she saw we were there, she promptly left without further ado, but that shouldn't have happened. Overall, I would stay again, as the price is good, but only if I had to be up early in the morning.

« Very basic, tatty, and underwhelming even with low expectations. »

Unhelpful front of house who wouldn't provide a fan for our room as apparently they had run out. The one on the reception desk was turned off (as the doors were wide open) but he wouldn't let that one go. Ironically 5 minutes after being told this I received a txt saying the hotel were delighted to have us stay and would do anything possible to make our say more enjoyable...! Rooms were extremely hot. Top bed wasn't made. Toilet was grotty, seat barely hanging on and toilet roll holder held together with an elastic band. No toiletries was a shame, even just a big tube of shower gel fixed to the wall would be good. The room was relatively quiet which was good and the parking was appreciated.

The hotel is just standard, the receptionist was friendly or welcoming. The breakfast could be improved. I stayed in this hotel few years ago and nothing has changed. Its not value for money and the management should look into improving their services.

« The area, standard of reception, parking, attire of staff did not see expectations »

The area did not fee particularly safe for a family The reception could do with a proper desk - did not feel like a reception desk rather it looked like a kitchen pantry The staff did not have uniforms or formal dressed appearance. There wasn't proper car parking available for hotel residents with no clear instructions as to what to do.
