All areas were well done. Check in was very pleasant. Bellmen were excellent both on arrival and exceptional on departure. I left my phone in the room....noticed just as I was getting into our taxi to the airport. The bellman immediately volunteered to go back to our room to check for the phone. Within 2 minutes he found it in the bathroom and brought it right down. Excellent service

From the moment we arrived our experience was fabulous. Michel at the front desk was great and was able to help us with an upgraded room. The room itself was spacious, clean and comfortable. Everyone we met was helpful and polite and the full experience was wonderful.

Comfortable stay. Given the quality of the hotel I was surprised how small and cramped the gym was. The fridge in my room was noisy and on one night the guests in the room next to me were very noisy. Otherwise I thought the room was very comfortable and I thought the fast-checkout was great.

« Exceptional service »

We had plans for a happy weekend away in Montreal, staying at the Hotel Sofitel. My husband awakened unwell Sun morning. We therefore decided to return to Ottawa as soon as possible. However, I had trouble getting our bus tickets changed when I tried calling Greyhound. I spoke with the hotel concierge, Maxine Denier, who managed to change the time of our departure and to print replacement tickets. He devoted nearly an hour to solving our problem and did so in a most pleasant manner and very efficiently. We remain very thankful for his help.

« Perfect location and very comfortable room; service when it related to reservation and finance could be improved »

The hôtel is perfectly located and the room we stayed in was perfect. Breakfast is excellent. A suggestion for improvement is related to how you treat the financials. We provided a credit card to guarantee reservation. A few days before our stay we received an email saying that our reservation would be cancelled if payment for our room does not go through within the end of the day. We were travelling at the time and would be in MONTREAL in the next couple of days for the McGill graduation of our daughter. The email was surprising, as we expected that all would be guaranteed by our credit card and payment would happen when we leave. When calling the hotel, all was sorted and the person on the phone told us there was no problem. We also noticed a couple of transactions of « funds blocked » from Sofitel on our credit card. On arrival the person at the check-in desk was very nice but helpless answering any question regarding these transactions. She could provide us though with a print out of what the expected bill would be and how much had been blocked already on our credit card. Also on one hand you provide self service check in to speed up check in which is then slowed down by that discussion. The next morning at breakfast we handed in a coupon for breakfast as we had prepaid our breakfast. There was only 1 coupon for each day and there were 2 of us. We had to deal with the ignorance of the breakfast staff about thé hôtels processes as she insisted to have 2 coupons. So all in all we enjoyed our stay very much. This is why we take the time to provided this feedback. We believe you should review your finance processes on reservation and make sure your customer facing staff can support your internal processes.

My stay was NOT satisfying at all. - Sofitel is a preferred hotel on our corporate list with a rating of 5 stars. - I debated booking with the Marriott that was similarly priced and decided on the Sofitel to my disappointment. - There was an issue with my reservation and I had to call the hotel to resolve. I was placed on hold for over 12minutes and transferred to three different persons before I was able to get a very simple resolution. - At the hotel I found the carpets in the elevator to be dirty and worn. - The room was much smaller than I was used to for this caliber of hotel - The staff were not very accommodating - On every occasion I had to wait for an extended period for my vehicle to be brought up by the valet. on one occasion I waited for over 20 minutes from the time I called from my room to the time I actually received the car. - In conclusion, I would not stay at this hotel again and neither would I recommend it to any of my colleagues and in fact would suggest that this not be one of the BMO preferred hotels.
