« Very elegant hotel near the Royal Victoria Docks »

Very friendly environment, young and so helpful staff, trying to cope with diverse requests in such a short time. Near and so accessible inside parking, beautiful rooms, large and with nice window perspective, over the city or the docks, depending on which side, obviously. Spotless common parts, elevators. Such a nice bar/restaurant facility with over the docks view, cozy atmosphere also. Will come back for my London trips, for sure !

« great location and very comfortable room »

I appreciate the location , this is very convenient for anyone working in canary wharf. The premises are comfortable, I was upgraded to a larger room so had a lot of space for me only ! the bed is particularly comfortable . I usually suffer from back problems, and I never have any pain after a night in this Novotel.

« Usually have a much better stay »

We stay twice a year every year and usually have an amazing stay and it’s a shame that this one has a few issues. We booked certain room styles as members of our party preferred separate beds but were ‘upgraded’. This isn’t something to complain about but this meant that there was a single large bed instead. It was separated for us but this meant we had 2 single beds instead of a queen and pull out sofa so we technically had less bed than we paid for. Switching rooms was not offered. The other room had an issue with its light which the maintenance guy came to check out, said he would need a different person to fix and never came back. We got a hang of getting the light to work but still. Since we booked in lateish (tired to book in earlier but no rooms were ready) this all gave me the feeling that it was less of an upgrade and more of Room types being overbooked and is getting the short met straws? We booked very early in the year and did request a view of the excel centre - though I know and understand these requests are not always able to be filled. We also had the rooms cleaned very late in the day, meaning we were actually back in the rooms When they arrived. On that note, the bins were not always emptied and the tissues not always filled. On the last night one of our rooms had an issue with the shower which didn’t seem to be draining well and the water ended up on the floor (though I will say that it was a bit late for us to go down and get someone for this and we did forget to mention it on leaving). Like I said, we usually have a great time and there was nothing here that would stop us coming again but with the previous times being so great, this was a bit of a shame.

Room was clean, staff attentive and friendly. Breakfast had a good selection of choice. Guests would benefit of advance knowledge of major events in the area in relation to public transport via sms near time of arrival as this would make arrival smoother.

« Beware of their pricing »

Novotel suggests that booking in advance directly through their site will give you "the best deal". Unfortunately this appears to be sadly incorrect. I booked on 1 June 2019 for a four night stay 23-27 October. The cost at the time, charged to my card, was AUD1587 or GBP843.60. This is equivalent to $400 per night. When I subsequently saw they had cheaper rates online I rang without success...my booking was non-refundable and could not be modified. I have just rechecked the rates for four nights in mid-December and find that it is available for less than AUD300 per night. Buyer beware indeed. It's my own fault in part because I would normally book through a travel site rather than directly with the hotel chain. It's certainly left me with a bitter taste in my mouth in regard to Novotel. Both the nearby Sunborn yacht hotel and the Crowne Plaza are cheaper! I have also received no invoice for the stay at any time simply been told there was nothing to pay. As to the room, it was satisfactory if very basic. The carpet in the room badly needed spot cleaning if nothing else- there were unpleasant marks on it in a number of places. The receptionist on check-in was very pleasant. Would I stay here again? Definitely not! Would I recommend it to anyone else? Absolutely not!

This is a very stylish hotel in a perfect location for the Excel and O2. The rooms are very comfortable and modern, with USB charging points by the desk and the bed, a fridge and a safe. The staff were very nice and helpful. The hotel car park was very convenient and cheaper then the public car park nearby. The separate lifts/stairs from the hotel entrance and car park to the reception and main hotel is a good security feature. Minor negatives: the air conditioning had no effect on the temperature of the room whether turned fully one way or the other (the thermostat numbers had all worn off); service in the restaurant was a little slow on my first night, but good on the other two nights.

The hotel room and amenities were fine, however the shuttle service I was expecting at 7am did not show, nor did the 7.20am or the 7.40am ... that said the hotel did sort for 8am a taxi, but this still impacted my day by an hour!

We were attending the WCEC at the Excel centre n location of your hotel was convenient. The front office staff was very helpful, one of your staff even offered his own umbrella to me when all your hotel umbrellas were taken. We were also given a late checkout which makes our schedule easier.
