Failed to get our car from the shared Sofitel Wentworth Carpark at 5.30am on the day of our departure (after we had contacted the Sofitel Night Staff on two occasions the previous afternoon on the Carpark Attendants's advice, to ask if we need to make arrangements to retrieve the car prior to the carpark's opening time, for an early departure - the NS said that we don't have to do anything and to just come down to the Front Desk the next morning and they would get our car for us - this wasn't the case at all). After we arrived at the Front Desk at 5.20am the next day, we were told by the Morning Staff that we should have brought the keys down to the Front Desk the night before. End result was we had to wait until 6.00am for the carpark to open, we missed the flight and are now $1500 out of pocket to re-book on the later flight. Stayed on Thursday 10-11 July 2019. The Sofitel Wentworth Club is also over rated and not a patch on the Sofitel in Collins Street Melbourne. All in all, a very disappointing (and expensive) stay. Never again.

On arrival, we were greeted by a lovely lady in reception (following the greeting from the gentleman on the door) and were given an upgrade. Our room was very comfortable and quiet and we were very relaxed. Our meals were - as always, with Sofitel - superb.

« Not up to expectations, some huge positives then some very big Negatives. I did fill out a guest feedback form the day I checked out. »

Reception was wonderful and positive then I had pre booked the French Restaurant and had given special requests Re seating. On arriving at restaurant in hotel the manager I assume isn’t that happy in general. Waited a while till anything was explained to us even to have menus or order drinks.. The wine I ordered was a wine from Rylstone from De Beaurepair vineyard and the staff was away for a while then I asked how the drinks were going and he forgot to tell us he couldn’t find the wine.. other tables were finding similar experience to us with wanting to order drinks and staff had overlooked or forgotten... The food was a huge disappointment and I ordered the tartare and I don’t know why that needs to be done at the table then the waiter mixed it all together and couldn’t believe it .. why would any chef want that to happen and damages the delicate meat and was horrible. I truely have no idea what was trying to be achieved.. The young waiter was lovely and I don’t remember his name but I think he thought it was not the right thing to do.. I got served lavosh with my tartare and have no idea why as it didn’t work at all with the flavours. Just serve good food simply done.. the buffet which one of our guests had was hugely disappointing the flavours and options.. the lamb was not good at all. I understand it was reasonably priced at $45 but not good or at least Sofitel standard.. Maybe it was a bad night but the manager I assume that’s who he was with the French accent really needs some customer service extra skills or even be happy. We then went to the bar downstairs on the Friday night of my stay and all the staff were not in the mood shall we say to serve or even move away from the bar area to walk around and check guests etc.. It all seemed to hard and I went up twice to get attention to be served.. Just not the usual service that Is expected. Beds and rooms lovely and that’s a positive. I had a large work event that I was producing at another hotel on the Saturday evening and I nearly stayed there for dinner and drinks as I was sooooo disappointed from the food & beverage at the Sofitel Wentworth that I didn’t want to risk it again. But I did risk it again.. thank goodness I did and met the most lovely manager called Melinda I believe and she wasn’t on the Friday night before but she went above and beyond for myself and mother who I was bringing with me. The change in the attitude and service on the Saturday night was amazing .. Not huddled all at the bar area but actually walking around and making sure guests had drinks, food with a genuine care factor. I understand Melinda is new there and let’s hope this is the turn around needed for the Sofitel Wentworth.. I know I am only one person but my golly to I have a lot of corporate event clients that I would love to bring back to the Sofitel Wentworth just get the amazing Food & Beverage team brilliant again .. The food in the bar is 300% better than the restaurant . hope this feedback helps I really do.

Pull up out the front to check in, and was told we had to go around to the parking entry, and then check in, when we got there, we found out that we could not park the car ourselves, so we had to get everything we needed out there and than, which we were not organised for. On the whole we enjoyed our experience (3 nights) and the staff were very helpful. Beatrice was a great 'first impression' on the front desk. She 'upsold' us to a higher level/quality room which at $40 per night, while pleasant, makes me wonder what a standard room was like. (Not sure what I was expecting) A couple of Issues- Our billing was difficult to correct as it had an incorrect address for my invoices. The toilet in our room was loose on day one and by the second evening the seat actually came off. It appeared to have been repaired previously. Housekeeping did not leave any toilet rols in the room after the first night. ( A bit embarrassing having to phone through for a supply) Also tea/milk and sugar not topped up, but that wasn't a major issue. I tried to book into Soiree for the Fondue service, but no staff member on at the time appeared to know about the offering. Breakfast was certainly busy and despite empty tables there was a short wait. Perhaps a couple of extra staff might help. Concierge was very helpful regarding bags and airport transport. I would probably think twice about spending $120 upgrading my room in the future unless I saw the value in it.

Check in was quick and efficient. The complimentary drinks (accor plus members) were appreciated. I was surprised that there was no blanket available for extra warmth at night time. Even though the room had adequate heating, a blanket at night for sleeping would have been appreciated and made my stay much more comfortable. Check out was quick and easy.

nice room, friendly staff, but strange there was no movies available as it makes a hotel stay a different experience for staying at home. Also, the ability to be able to use my laptop or phone to stream netfilx etc was not working. I found it strange that there was an $8 charge for room service. That seems a lot.
