« Good location, clean and welcoming hotel »

I asked for a quiet room and got one very close to the staircases, where we could hear all people going up- and downstairs. Besides that I was really surprised about the extremely high price for breakfast and next time, I will definitely not eat in the hotel. The staff at the reception was very friendly and supportive and the rooms were very clean and light. The hotel has a good location, close to the underground station.

« It no better and no worse than my general experience when staying in a hotel »

From check-in to check-out the hotel personnel where pleasant, professional and attentive. I feel that some 'artificial intelligence' should be applied to the lifts which really are some of the least responsive that I have come across. I would also suggest the something is done about how the hotel bedrooms and corridors are 'hermetically' sealed. Whenever a door is closed and you are in your room, a pressure wave can be felt that is not good and if you are asleep can cause you to wake.

The overall experience staying at hotel was wonderful. The hotel personnel, i.e. check-in staff and breakfast/restaurant staff were extremely polite and welcome us warmly as hosts! However, we are a bit of disappointed with the breakfast of which the variants/quality were cleary worse.

We have always had good experiences at Novotels and the Hamburg Alster was no exception. We were greeted by friendly, helpful reception staff who helped us to find out bearings in the city. The room was exactly as we expected - comfortable, clean and with just enough room for a family of four staying together. We have no complaints. The breakfast was wonderful with plenty of choice (we're all vegetarians and there was plenty to choose from), and even at peak time we did not have to wait for a table. A great stay

The room was small but adequate and complete renovated with new furniture which was nice. It was a corner room with two sides facing a busy junction which was a concern when I first walked into the room, however the windows were perfectly insulated so we had silent nights. Few more hangers where to hang wet towels in the small bathroom would have been nice, similarly some more shelters in the bathroom where to put toiletries etc would have been good. Breakfast was abundant and with good selection. The only negative remarks are for the desk staff, which, although very friendly and professional, was not very useful in a couple of occasion. Once I've asked the receptionist how to get to a certain place by bus (rather than by tube, which is very conveniently located with one tube entrance right outside the Hotel entrance) and I was told that I could not go there by bus. And that was it. End of story. I was hoping to get some alternatives, for example "There are no bus station where you want to go, however the closest bus station would be here, then you'll need to walk etc.". Perhaps a quick check on google would have helped. On a different occasion the receptionist could not tell me where was the bus station nearest to the hotel was, quoting that "we don't use the bus very often". So I decided to look for my self and found a bust station few hundred meters down the road. Again, the staff was always friendly and professional, however I was bit puzzled that I could not get answers to what I would have thought are basic questions.

I have stayed several times but this time it was spoilt by a football machine right by the bar,I understand you are a child friendly hotel but surely this machine should be up by the kids entertainment area not by the bar where people are trying to speak. The bar Staff are always friendly and help make you welcome especially John,I also had very good customer service from a young lady named Nina a very sweet young lady.

« Treating the guests in a bad way »

First of all, there is no one to help us in carrying the luggage. Secondly, the next day the receptionst came ALL THE WAY to our rooms and knocked the door to ask us to check out from the hotel NOW! This was very disappointing cause she did not ask us in a nicely way, she was rude and unprofessional at all. We felt like we were staying a school dorm or a 2 stars hotel! Even my kids were very surprised.. At least she couldve called us instead coming all the way to our rooms..I wonder why there is a telephone in the rooms??? That's all and yes me and the kids were not satisfied at all.
