Nice located hotel. Cleanness could be far better. Socks from the Guest before where lying on the windowsill - during the complete stay - so was there cleaning in the room? Same with a key and some bottle caps - also not cleaned / removed.

« A pleasant stay but needs few upgrades »

I had to travel for business and chose Novotel to stay for 3 weeks. The rooms were clean but lacked a USB charging port also the charging ports should be close to the bed and not at the far side table. I had few issue with the breakfast buffet as the menu remained exactly the same for my entire stay, there can be some upgrades in the breakfast buffet menu. Overall it was a pleasant stay for me the hotel staff was always very cordial and helpful.

I had a very important exam in Freiburg, that's why I had stayed in Novotel. Nobody expected the power crises happens on the night I stayed - all the power has gone and I was very worried because I had to use my computer and desprate to study for the exam. Nobody could help in this situation of course but the manager of this hotel Mr Xabiel concerned very well for me and he did his very best for me. I didn't ask anything but he offered this for me. I am pretty sure this is not something what he could do for everybody but he gave me an exception me to bring in the office and he allowed me to study there and connected the very rare power with a line for me to study. I really do appriciate his kindness and I was very pleased how he treated his customer/me well and best for me. I would never forget his big help. The other staff were also nice in the office and provided me a good environment for my study. Because of him, I could pass the test and I am extra happy. If I couldn't study at night, I might fail the test but I passed, due to his help. Next morning, I saw him in the hotel and he remembered me and we greeted and talked a bit. He is very nice and a good manager. Novotel Freiburg is located in a centre of the city, very clean hotel, and everything was great. I wish to go back to Novotel Freiburg again!

From the moment I walked into the lobby of the Novotel in Freiburg, to the moment that I left, all the staff were exceptionally courteous, helpful and friendly. One young lady, Lyra, I hope I've spelt her name correctly, deserves a special mention, as she went out of her way to help me. Rooms were large, airy and quiet. Housekeeping staff were quick and efficient. Breakfast was okay, but every morning, regardless of what time I got down for breakfast, the scrambled eggs were cold, and far too salty. However, the being the only fault I could find, I will definitely be returning to the Novotel, Freiburg.

« The worst experience I've had at an Accor Hotel »

When I booked the hotel I was given the opportunity to book a meal in the hotel restaurant - 25 euro for two courses. As I knew I would be arriving quite late I decided to use this facility. When I arrived, because I'd used the on-line check-in, I was given an envelope along with my room key. The envelope contained a welcome drink voucher and a town plan. It did not contain a voucher for a meal or the code for the unrestricted internet I'd also paid for. After a bath and a walk round Freiburg I went to find the hotel restaurant. I discovered that the actual restaurant was closed and food was only being served in the bar. I asked if I could eat, mentioning that I had paid up front, but the bar manager feigned ignorance that this was possible. I had a (perfectly acceptable) burger and a drink and signed the bill. Even if I had wanted a dessert I doubt if I could have one because the bar stopped serving food at 9:30pm. When I checked out the next morning I expressed concern to the receptionist that I might have been charged twice for the evening meal. She looked at the computer and assured me I had not. She then printed out the invoice and put it in an envelope without me seeing it. It was only a couple of days later that I examined the bill and found that I HAD been charged twice - 25 euro for the pre-booked meal and 19.50 euro for the burger and drink. As I was returning to Freiburg about a week later I thought it best to raise the issue at the hotel when I checked in again. This I did. The reception staff appeared to accept that there had been a problem but claimed that they did not have the authority to at least refund me the 19.50 euro. They took photocopies of the invoices (including the bar bill) and took a note of my email address and said they would raise it with the hotel manager who would be in the next morning at 7:00am and would send me an email on the subject. I checked out of the hotel at around 7:30am. I had a train to catch that I couldn't afford to miss so I did not raise the subject again (and the staff member - who may have been the manager - did not mention it to me either). I have not received any further communication from the hotel on this subject and there has been no refund I can see into my credit card account. I think it's fair to say I'm extremely disappointed by what's happened. I've attempted to contact the hotel through the Accor webmail and via H5383@accor.com but have received no reply.
