Overbooked - did not receive the correct Hotel Room

I specifically booked a family room, constisting of a double Queen size bed and an additional single bed. We were two adults and one child and needed a room with 3 beds. We were told that our booked room was not available and they would have to figure something out for us. The solution? We were given a British Airways Crew room with a foldable foot stool as bed. The bed was not fit for sleeping on and it was the most uncomfortable sleep we have experienced in a long time. Why was our pre-booked room not available? Why did front desk make a note on our booking that our son would require a crib? I specifically added his age to the reservation upon booking.

Dear Mrs. G., thank you for taking the time to leave us your review following your stay with us. I am sorry that there were areas of your stay that you found disappointing. Please allow me to reach out to your privately in order to address them in person. We received the age of your child from 3 years, however with this age we always but a baby bed in the room. I can only apologies, that your child was to big for the baby bed and that we then had no other room available, just the one you received.
