« Hotel on a hilltop »

Nice hotel with swimming pool - great to unwind. Lovely warm rooms (in winter). Pleasant and courteous reception staff. Accor hotel guests treated with some difference. There are some eateries very close by and the centre of town is very easy to walk to so if you want to eat out of the hotel it is relatively easy to do so.

All was excellent on the service front. I've checked in online so my room was ready when I arrived, and this was highly appreciated. With that in mind, the hotel could really do with some proper renovation, starting with the lifts (are really in bad shape), to the in-room heating system (noisy, very archaic), to the actual room design (e.g, TV sits on the side of the bed rather than facing it), to the more modern TV's and so on...

The hotel facility and room is not too bad. But, the service we experienced are quite bad. We ask the reception to book the taxi one day earlier for us to the train station. When we check out to wait the taxi on that time. It couldn’t find, wait for 5 minutes still not turn up and ask the reception again to check. One male staff said the taxi gone when we check out. Then, book again the female staff said only 5 minutes will come again, but wait another 10 minutes still not coming. We ask them again, they refuse to help and said that they don’t work for taxi company. It is near Our train departure time, we take 1 large luggage and the other 3 luggage to run to the train station and finally we catch the train. But we take nearly 45 minutes to wait for taxi. We both are member of loyalty programs and was very disappointed with this hotel service. The problem are 1. The reception should help us to sort out the taxi problem with patient and manner. 2. They should see the taxi and ask the taxi to wait for 2 minutes if we are checking out. 3. They should have experience to have different taxi company details to check which taxi is the nearest one to pick us up. Otherwise, the customer like us will miss the train or flight. The consequence will be very serious! I like to fill this complain and hope the hotel can improve the customer service!

Was uncomfortable with the following: internet access, door key failure, parking costs, lift issues, closed restaurant, expensive drinks at the bar,. I was happy with: Housekeeping, breakfast, general staff courtesy, and the abundance of apologies that can be handed out.

« Wonderful as always! »

As usual my stay at the Novotel was very pleasant. The staff definitely makes this place the warm welcoming stay it is! This particular stay I did not have the breakfast due to time restraints but I have in the past and the food is always wonderful. And the best way to end a busy day in Mainz is to have a nightcap before bedtime with the friendly bar staff, most notably Constantin who remembers returning guests by name. I look forward to a return visit.

« OK stay - you could do better »

If I book a double room for double occupancy, I kind of think that two of everything might be provided, like the tea selection, robe and slippers, glass for drinks etc. Sadly that wasn’t the case. Paid in advance so might have thought you had the card details. No one asked to swipe a card at reception, and then when I wanted to charge something to the room it wasn’t possible, which made me feel like I was trying to defraud you. Paid cash for the drinks so no problem. But that’s not the point. It was unfriendly and rude and my wife - enjoying a very rare experience travelling with me while I was on business - was not impressed. Lucky I’m a member of Le Club, or God knows that the experience would have been!

Generally good experience. However, the internet is poor. It disconnects often or just doesn’t work. Please consider upgrading and improving your internet service. I ate dinner at the bar and the food was very good. Originally, I requested a dinner salad with chicken. The restaurant didn’t have chicken. Then, I asked for shrimp. No shrimp available. My only option was steak. So, I had a steak with salad. It was delicious. My colleague wanted the Gnocchi on the dinner menu but it was not available. The gnocchi was replaced with Penne pasta. What was offered on the menu was not available. Options are limited. However, the food was delicious. Again, the WLAN/WiFi service is terrible in the hotel. Please upgrade and improve it so that service is very good in ALL OF THE ROOMS. Thank you.
