Wonderful, great service, lovely attentive staff and the best made to order gin drinks we ever tasted. The spa was excellent and we really enjoyed the Gamelan music during meals. Our son found an antique cris at a shop recommended by one of your staff that he bought after looking for days all over Java.

The Phoenix Hotel is clean, hygienic, spacious, centrally located, and safe. These are its selling points. The low points I experienced: * being told that breakfast lasted until 11am and then being denied a seat in a mostly empty restuarant at 10am * there was a leak in the toilet * twice I struggled to close (and lock) my door properly - I also walked past another guest having the same issue * room unavailable for check-in until 5pm. Housekeeping and room service were of a normal Sofitel standard (good). However, the rooms lack character and you could just as easily be in Ireland as Indonesia. The central location of the hotel means that rooms are noisy, but ear plugs are provided and noise is rampant in Yogya, so it will not necessarily be better at another hotel. In summary, a comfortable and clean stay, but a lack of restaurant service and lack of ability to close the door pretty much keep you reliant on room service. Finally, I am completing this survey from an email which was addressed to a completely different person. I'm not David. I'm not even a man. Let that say enough about Phoenix's attention to detail (and privacy of your data).
