« Luxurious yet feels so homey »

The one thing I cannot forget was that I slept so well during my 3 nights stay this hotel. It usually takes a while for me to be able to sleep well at new places like hotels (and especially old hotels). The moment I entered the room, although I could feel that it is an old hotel, the ambience in the room was somewhat warm and comfortable. The bed, the pillows, even the bolsters felt perfect. The room temperature also suited me well. I also noticed that the staff were actively helpful and always made sure that our stay there comfortable and pleasant. The housekeeping was satisfactory. I stayed there for three nights and overall it felt like home.

Male waiter/staffs are very pro-active and helpful. The service of the lady receptionists/counter staff can be improved to be as pro-active as the male counterparts. many Thanks for the birthday cake, it is a pleasant surprise. the bathroom is rather small, disposable shaver, shower cap can be provided

We stayed for 3 nights before heading to Malaysia. Yogyakarta is amazing and the staff from the hotel are all brilliant. Shame I couldn’t use my Burn4Stay since the hotellink website was not working. Despite that we felt welcomed and we made the most of our stay. Breakfast is really good with different options that change almost everyday.

The Phoenix in Yogyakarta is a very nice place to stay if you are in the city. It’s a nice, comfortable and cost place to be. The staff is very helpful and friendly, the food is great and the rooms are as to be expected. It’s quite a big hotel but it’s layout makes it very cozy.

I've been twice staying in this hotel, and I feel a great hospitality, good and various food, and strategic location. I think the management is necessary to do a few development areas for kids playing, like kids swimming pool and game properties. I was great coming back to this hotel each day. We loved going to happy hour each night. We loved the gin tolley coming out and the information given to us on each gin. Receptionist : Got welcome drink and nice service. Minus is receptionist said we should waited in the waiting lounge room till someone called that the room is ready. But noone did, so we just go back to the receptionist and asked, and it was ready. They should come approach us to say that. Lift : Lift kinda very old and the close door button have to be pressed so hard to make it close, not well maintained. Foods : Foods are great. Room : After we checked in at 2 pm, we went out again around 5 pm, once we were back to the hotel around 9 pm, we noticed that the room service cleaned our room, while we didn't ask for it. Isn't it supposed to be cleaned before we checked in?

However, it is truly sad to read the impression you had with us and that we failed to meet with your expectations on the arrival and the turn down service experience. We kindly inform you that our check in time is 14.00 p.m as your check in time, we regret to hear that you need to wait for some time at our living room and back to our receptionist by your self to take the key while we our receptionist was preparing your registration and key. And as additional service, our Housekeeper will give every room turn down service in the evening to clean and prepare every room for our guest resting time except the guest refuse it directly or hang Do Not Disturb sign on the door. Please accept our sincerest apologize since we cannot fulfill your satisfaction during stay. All of your feedback will be share to the related department to always give the better performance for you and for the other guest in the future. Poor room for an Executive Room. Checked out for one night to avoid poor room and potentially noisy wedding. Booked a better room on Booking.com to return a day later. Got given the same room - which was nit as in the picture. However, got upgraded to a suite for same price as compensation. In reality, neither room had the linen or furnishings one would expect if a 5* Sofitel hotel. Breakfast, location and ground floor public spaces were all good. Was on business and will try another hotel next time.

« Used to be better.. »

Stayed there around 2 years ago and it was so memorable that I decided to stay again on this trip. I remember how nice the room was, the lobby, the room near the lobby, the amenities, even the sugar box at the breakfast table was so pretty. This time I got the wrong room (booked the twin bed, got the double bed), hotel felt more run down than it was. The breakfast was super standard (please change the ham on the cheese table...it didn't taste good :(), very small selection, no pretty details at all, feels like a 3 stars hotel to be honest... The shower door in our room couldn't close properly so the floor was so wet after we took a bath. But the staffs were still super friendly and helpful :)

« Lovely calm cool oasis in the city »

The environment is aesthetically pleasing, cool, and calm, a pleasure to come back to. The service is excellent. Sorry to have to say this, but the food is a little disappointing. Indonesian food is varied and delicious, and the food on offer at the hotel is limited and a bit bland. The nicest dish is the Jogja black rice. There is too much European food which is complicated and not particularly nice.
