I like novotel, but my last stayed in novotel i ask to reception staff for sajadah she said ok novotel have sajadah and hotel staff will deliver to my room. But till 1 hour i waiting for sajadah, sajadah never come to my room. That's make me disappointed. If novotel doesn't have sajadah its ok.

« Good, but breakfast feels worse than previous visit »

Bed is good, toilet are all functioning well & no leaks. However, I feel the breakfast quality is not as good as it was. Is not about the taste, but more to the selections? (E.g. the fish menu was not compelling, bread/cake choices) yet thanks to the new breakfast layout, this feels good. I was even thinking of staying somewhere else should the breakfast is not good enough.

« Astonishing, but could be better »

We were staying at the Novotel in our first trip to Semarang. First to go to Ungaran Getsemani Mount of Prayer and the second reason was to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary on the 21st November. The 1st room was booked by using the complimentary stay and it was great. Seems that the room was newly renovated. The 2nd room was booked by using member rate (which already been discounted) and upgrade to a higher level, it was bigger than the 1st one. But we feel that the 1st one is better (although the size is smaller) because it has a newer/better amenities and near the pool - we can see it via our room window! Novotel always serves the best breakfast and we are really enjoy it!

The hotel is already rather old and the facilities have definitely seen better days. However, it is conveniently situated, and the overall feel of the hotel is good, so I continue to use it, as I have for the past five years. Two things could be immediately improved to significantly add to the guest experience: 1. To forbid smoking in the hotel dining lounge area. It is hard to believe that now an international standard hotel allows this. There has been so much change on this practice in Indonesia over the last years. The negative health impacts on cigarette smoke on others (passive smoking) are well understood. As the lounge is open to the lobby of the hotel, it gives a very bad first impression. I note that Novotel competitors no longer allow this. 2. Improve the quality of the human resources on reception and in the reservations department. I normally use OTA for booking, but sometimes I need to extend a stay, and usually do that directly with the front desk. However, my requirements are frequently misinterpreted leading to embarrassing confusion for both them and me. I do not know if the quality of English language skills is low, or the inter-department communications systems are poor. It has not just happened once, it seems to happen every time.
