« Very welcoming and a very happy environment »

The hotel was immaculate, which for us is one of the most important things we look for in a hotel. The reception staff gave us a wonderful welcome and we're very helpful. Our room was great and the housekeeping staff very friendly. Swimming in the pool and relaxing in the surrounding area was wonderful. Breakfast was excellent, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. There seemed to be excellent, but discrete security which was nice. The beach area was great and gentleman handing out the towels etc was very helpful and friendly. There are two areas which I think have room for improvement; 1/ For there to be a No Smoking policy in the large entrance hall inside the building - under the huge sliding roof, when it is open is not a problem. 2/ Rooms in a dedicated quiet area, for guests preferring earlier nights. The corridors seem to echo, and people shouting and slamming doors when they return to their rooms very late at night/early morning can be quite disturbing, which, I realise is totally the fault of bad mannered guests! Maybe also a dedicated family area for families with babies/young children, as naturally babies tend to cry which can heard quite easily in the adjoining rooms.

« Long Weekend in Agadir »

We like to spend a long weekend in Agadir and Sofitel Royal Bay Resort was used to be one of our favorite choice. Unfortunately, last experience was below our expectations. Indeed the hotel requires a renewal which is undergoing (as they told us). However, the service overall was a disaster starting from Reception, but pool and beach bar also was below the typical Moroccan hospitality. Check in formalities were the most terrible experience (with a waiting time for our room longer than 2 hours...). We got some good treatment for this discomfort but the bad taste still remains. The location is great and the swimming pool is Top.... but do not dare to ask for drink or meal there....

« The Hotel met our needs with 4 children with varying ages but it needs renovation to meet 5* rating »

The Sofitel Royal Bay is a lovely Hotel, great location, has a true moroccan style and friendly staff. We spent 10 days here with our 4 chidden with varying needs (22yr old twins, 16yr old boy, and 14yr old girl). We chose the hotel having visited in 2016 and so we knew the wi-fi was fast, the buffet food had excellent choice for varying appetites, a lovely pool area, close to the beach and walking distance for Moroccan markets and restaurants. Everything still ticked the box for us and our 4 children's needs were all met (thank goodness!). However, the only disappointing aspect was that the hotel is looking run down now, it needs re-rendering outside around then pool area, the sun loungers are faded and look old, the carpets in the corridors are old as well. The lobby still looks lovely and has an authentic Moroccan feel which we love and the food was great. The hotel just needs some renovation to be carried out (I believe) in order to qualify for the 5* rating.

The hotel was clean and tidy. It was very quiet but this suited us fine due to needing a relaxing holiday. Some staff were more attentive than others. It was often difficult to get attention of pool bar staff and sometimes we asked for drinks and they said they’d come back in a minute but didn’t. During evening entertainment, some customers were prioritised over others.

« Luxury with a small L....... »

It is the small things in a luxury property that make it sparkle and stand out.... check in is from 3pm we arrived some time after 4pm to find our room was still being cleaned, it took three trips to reception to be told this.... not a great start. The property is dated now, the rooms clean but lack items from the 21st Century, the room towels had seen many a birthday, we had to ask reception mid way through our stay to change our bed sheets, no card in the room to ask for this to be done today. The room compendium is like a history lesson, not much use to todays guests... the staff are all smiles and that is a great positive, but it did take along time to get any request filled. The food is what you would expect it to be in what is mainly a leisure property, but not up to the normal brand standard of Sofitel this property may have in the past sat well within the brand but today it seems like a fish out of water. On departure it took 15mins to collect our bags and get them to our car....

Went with a friend for my 30th Birthday. The staff were so friendly and so helpful. A very BIG thank you to Aicha Outkatan and Najat Mesdadi (housekeeping) for ensuring our rooms were always so clean and we were never without water! Meryem (front reception) and Aziz Modefar (concierge) for being so kind and dealing with our queries so quickly and efficiently. Amal for always greeting us so politely at Breakfast and finally Said (our waiter) for always ensuring we had plenty of tea and orange juice already waiting for us in the restaurant, without them our stay wouldn’t have been so great! Will definitely be coming back! Thank you :)

The hotel is in a lovely location and has a lot of charm, but it is in serious need of a renovation in order to be considered a "5 star hotel."
