Dreadful rooms

The ground floor of the hotel was superb in every way. The staff were beyond excellent. The location was ideal. The only issue I had with the hotel was the shockingly bad guest rooms. They were old, tired, stained, dreary and rough. The hotel is supposed to be five star, but I've stayed in far, far nicer 3 star hotels. Not what I expected at all.

Great stay and customer service from all the staff. Mew at the front desk was exceptional as was all the entire team at breakfast who went above and beyond with their customer service. Food selection for breakfast was exceptional and the fresh make your own juice was a huge hit with all the family. Pool, outdoor spa and gym were also excellent. Would definitely stay again.

Over the years the Sofitel Brisbane set the bar in Brisbane for 5* accommodation. Sadly that has been surpassed by other new properties in the Brisbane market. While the Sofitel location is very central, the rooms are becoming worn and the service and facilities began to deteriorate well before Covid. A club lounge sitting now restricted to a 1 hour for the provision of barely warm party pies and sausage rolls ( that was my last attendance some time back ) is somewhat underwhelming to the point we have never returned and better enjoy the vibe elsewhere ( even the Pullman Rooftop). I am absolutely undoubted that previous GM's Marcus & Haydon would not allow this diminishing standards. I now split my loyalty amongst programs. Kind regards.
