Upon walking into the suite, we didn't know the room was newly refurbished and it looked stunning. Such a cozy room and we were more than happy with the facilities in the room and the hotel. We will be back and recommend that anyone go and experience the suite.

The staff at reception are always extremely helpful, fast and friendly and should be commended on their hard work and amazing service! We travel often and enjoy accomodation but we specifically like the Hills Lodge We like the staff, the hotel rooms, the dining room HOWEVER We find the food of very low quality and friendly staff do not make up for both the very poor selection - the only change after a few months was the soup - the food is poorly cooked and lacks even basic skills in cooking - try it yourself and let me know. I have reported it but no change and we will now eat at the local shopping centre rather than eat at what should be an outstanding dining room with good if not great food

« It was a "coming home" experience. »

I first stayed at Hills Lodge in the mid 1980's when only a handful of rooms had been completed. Over ensuing years it was akin to staying at a construction site. In 1987 when I transferred fro Melbourne to Sydney, Hills Lodge became my home whilst waiting for my Melbourne residence to sell. I also held conferences there and remember at a morning tea break watching a trainee helicopter pilot dig the main rotor into the ground and cart wheel down the hill. The area was very different in those days! Our return was extremely pleasant with the friendly staff still a hallmark of the hotel. I didn't ask, but I suspect one of the ladies on duty in the restaurant at breakfast was there thirty years ago? Our stay was very enjoyable and when it came to check out I advised the bill was wrong. Our Saturday dinner and wine were not charged to our account. This was amended and I left with a clear conscience. We will certainly be back. We come to Sydney regularly to see my daughters and their families and have been staying else where. Not in the future. With kind regards, Len W.. p.s...I preferred the timber panelling natural as it used to be rather than painted over :-)

Room was clean, spacious, with all appliances working. Unfortunately could not access off site gym, and found spa was not part of the hotel but a private separate company, without current price list. Had several meals at restaurant including wedding dinner, which was very average in quality, but high priced (steak for both meals were gristley and tough).

Room was good, we had dinner in the restaurant, not so good which was disappointing, my partner ordered steak with no sauce at all and by the time it finally arrived after quite a long wait it had sauce with it, by that stage we were past caring as the drink service had been slow as well, 20 minutes to get a drink, seriously??? My partner isn't fussy he's diabetic and has to watch what he eats. overall in the restaurant the service was appalling, my daughters meal never showed up, we complained at the time, she was the bride the next day, which was a lot better! Not sure if I would recommend anyone to stay ther4e again.

At Grand Mercure, we strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer; therefore your feedback is very important to us. I acknowledge your complaint regarding room layout as well as noise and have just completed our first refurbished Suite and will now start with room 2 in a weeks time. This room will have a fresh new look and much better use of space, which I believe resolves the issues you experienced. I am also double glazing the window of the bedroom of Suite 2 as your noise comments are not isolated. In relation to the internet speed when you next stay we will ensure you receive a special code "VIP" which will more than double the speed for you. We appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future.
