If ever a hotel was in need of a refurbishment and an intense clean, its this one. Its tired, furniture is worn out and its all very brown. The hot tap on the basin in the bathroom merely dribbled on maximum flow. Shower screen immovable. Mastic filler on gaps everywhere - turning mouldy brown/black. The towels were so old that they wouldn't absorb anything. Curtains coming off the railings.

Some placarding missing to find our room. Piping hot water from both hot and cold wash basin taps in room 98. Only one very small towel and one slightly larger towel for two people. Trouser press didn’t work.

All very satisfactory; the only comment is that there were no toiletries in my bathroom. Reception was very apologetic, provided toiletries and noted my room number to follow up with the staff. The breakfast was very good.

Great stay at this hotel. Lovely atmosphere. Shame we dod not stay longer. Friendly staff throughout, especially breakfast waitresses. In our room however there were alot of flies around the window which was concerning.

From the moment we arrived, my daughter and I were treated like royalty. I mentioned that our spa break was a birthday present for my daughter and we were treated in lots of ways with free drinks, extra spa gifts and looked after by your wonderful staff, as if we were royalty. Nothing was too much trouble. ALL staff were just amazing.

I found all the staff I had contact with very friendly welcoming and helpful. The food in the restaurant was excellent. I loved the Aqua fit class. My spa treatment was very good. We found the food in the spa was quite expensive. Unfortunately the soup in the spa was cold when served. We sent it back and when it was served the second time it was still not hot and appeared watered down. I think the soup needs to be served on warmed dishes especially if it is transported quite a distance from the kitchen. My first room was excellent unfortunately there was a function with music until the early hours and my room overlooked the function room. This meant I was unable to sleep however when I rang reception the night porter was very helpful and allocated me another room which I appreciated but having to move rooms in the middle of the night to got some sleep on what is supposed to be a relaxing break is not a great experience. Windows of rooms overlooking the function rooms need soundproofing or just keeping for guests attending the function when there is a function on.

Nice original building but still in need of some upgrades and certainly better maintenance and housekeeping. Mixed experience with staff, some very helpful, others less so. Good restaurant with well presented food at reasonable cost whereas drinks quite expensive.

We are regulars at this hotel and we are normally very happy here but we were very disappointed be a couple of things: Firstly, there was an infestation of flies around the windows, such that we were unable to open the windows. This should have been noticed and corrected. Secondly, one our third day, which was actually a separate booking, the bed was not properly made. In fact, we felt that it should have been changed.

The radiator didn’t work. There was no hot water from the shower in the evening and it was too hot in the morning. There was a wasp in my room. The bed was too hard and the pillows uncomfortable.

The overall stay was okay, the breakfast was sufficient and the overall menu selection has a variety. My only complaint is that I have been bitten a handful of times whilst staying at the hotel, of which I did mention on checking out but there was no manager to help escalate my complaint.

We booked directly with the hotel 4am , as the booking agencies showed it as being full. Not only did they find a couple of rooms, but we were welcomed by the night porter with a bowl of fresh fruit and some drinks!!

Excellent sized room with pleasant furniture. We could have done with more light in the room and it could be difficult to read or put makeup on. I usually needed to sit by a window during the daytime. The service of the room was good when done but some days it was missed. Food excellent especially the breakfast. Staff were very pleasant and we would stay there again.
