« Very poor, should not be letting out rooms until refurbishment is complete »

Honestly the worst experience Ive ever had at a hotel. Website did not say the hotel was mid refurbishment. The 'executive double' booked was tatty with stained headboard and torn curtains, we refused to stay in it, were relocated to a 'refurbished room' which would have been nice had it been actually finished, building and plaster dust still in bathroom, aircon not connected yet, the corridor it was in was mid building site, the torn carpet on the stairs was a H&S hazard. Then the restaurant id booked online was full with a function so we were sat in another room, and the burgers ordered were not cooked properly and my salad was past its best. We got a refund and ended up staying somewhere else which after a long drive from Devon and a working day was not appreciated. Such a shame, we'd had a wonderful wedding there only 5 years ago, don't know what has happened to place! but they really shouldn't be advertising the rooms at executive prices when the hotel and staff are in such a disarray, its totally unacceptable by todays standards.

Really nice staff , helpful , nice location but I was not warned that the hotel was undergoing refurbishment and the room smelt of paint and in the morning there were builders blocking the hallway and dust everywhere

« Disappointing for such a well known hotel chain »

We booked this hotel as our son was getting married in Farnham the following day, We were a group of 6 (including our son and best man), and we felt this hotel would provide a good quality service and give us a relaxing stay before the wedding. Unfortunately firstly when we arrived we discovered there was building work taking place.. The rooms we were originally allocated had very recently been painted and the paint fumes were so over whelming, we had to ask to change rooms. We were given alternative rooms for which we were grateful, but our original rooms were unfit to sleep in so it was disappointing we were put in this position in the first place. Secondly , as my son was getting married the following day, when we returned to the hotel later in the evening just after 11pm, we were hoping to have a drink in the bar. The bar was closed, and even though we were a group of 6 (and had booked 4 rooms between us), the hotel were unwilling to open the bar for us. This may have been due to lack of staff, but as it was a Friday night and we were paying guests, the hotel should have been more adequately staffed. We were offered room service but we were very cramped all squashed into one of our bedrooms! The main hotel building is beautiful and the staff were doing their best, but we have stayed at Accor Hotels many times before including the Mercure brand and expected a much better hotel experience.

Well known hotel. I have stayed many times. If anything , some of the rooms are a bit ran down and breakfast room, as the bar which has been refurbished, it could also do with a bit of reno and a few freshly items in the morning for breakfast.

« Old hotel but nice location »

The location is perfect, right in the center of Farnham. The hotel itself is old and the rooms who have not been refurbished are in dire need of it. The WiFi is good, but no gym onsite. The local gym can be used for 7,40 GBP. The breakfast is ok but very English. Luckily there is a supermarket right across the street if you want to eat something else.

Hotel was a good price and very centrally located. Rooms were clean. Air con was OK but was as all air cons are noisy, I would have rathered if I could have opened the window however it wouldnt stay open.

« Not really worth the money »

First room we were checked into was like something from 1970, not particularly clean the headboard was disgusting. I asked reception for another room, after a huff and a puff another room was given. Whilst slightly better (nice bathroom) it was incredibly hot (a/c not working) and incredibly noisy being near the road. I suspect the receptionist knew where she was moving us. Couldn't be bothered to ask for a third room. To cap it all noisy housekeeping staff have there office down the corridor and when they came in for the morning they thought it ok to shout and scream down the corridor.

The newly renovated rooms are a needed improvement. Still some little touches required to complete the room. The A/C was not connected, small hole in the bathroom door.

« Overall I had an adequate experience at hotel. »

I found the hotel charming but needs some updating/modernization e.g. carpets, lighting, Ironing boards, iron, t.v.. The entry drive way needs a pass through. Bartenders need training. Staff is friendly, courteous, professional.

There are only 05 decent rooms which are the courtyard, the rest are either too small, or too old, or don’t even have a lift for the suitcases. The hotel needs seriously a refurbishment

« Ok, but hotel restorations disturbed »

Staff very nice, but, because of restoration work, we had no air conditioning and our room (316) was much too warm. I mentioned this the next morning at reception and a fan was promised, but this never materialized. Also on Thursday morning about 5 alarms went off that we were not warned about, they were really loud!

Disappointing. Air con wouldn’t work so often only a fan. With windows open the smell of smoke from the courtyard blew in. Complained in the morning and not expecting to pay full price. Was told they could not do anything and had to wait for the general manager to ring me yesterday which he still hasn’t done. I said I wasn’t prepared to pay until it was resolved but they had already charged my account and refused to give me a refund. This is a mercure yet staff in a premier inn are better at handling payment disputes.
