The hotel was clean and the facilities were great. My only grievance was that we asked twice at the reception for some robes & slippers, then via phone, 3 hrs later still nothing had been done. On our way out we asked again at reception to be told quite abruptly that the request had all ready been made. 24 hrs later and we still had not received anything, so phoned once again and someone came within 20 mins.

Very good , but the only problem was tracing where to park my car at the hotel was not easy; I had to go round three times and asking people before I could see hotel car park. The hotel score 9.8 /10 and the missed point 0.02/ 10 because of the difficulties tracing the car park. I suggest the Mercure hotel Cardiff should put car park sign board right from the front directing customers to go round to the car park rather than let customer stress driving around to search for their car park. If the do that then next time I will score them 10/10.

We were given a twin room even though we requested a double, room service came and pushed them together added a mattress topper however the beds kept moving apart which wasn’t the best sleep! Our room was also located behind the lifts which meant all we heard every few minutes was the lift moving up and down which becomes pretty loud at night! Spa day was lovely and dinner at night was nice the menu selection for a package was very very limited which could improve by far. Breakfast was delivered right on time which we enjoyed. In all it was on okay stay, defiantly attend the spa again maybe if there was another package we would stay at the hotel

The hotel it self looks really nice inside, but the night what we spent there was horrible as there was a party below us and was so loud until 00:15 that we couldn't sleep, and after an afternoon of sauna and steam it would have been nice to got to bed as soon as possible. I went down to reception as they did not answered the phone and the gentlement took our room number and wrote it down on a piece of paper when i asked why or if he can do anything he says no not really as the banquet room is hired out, when asked him we wasn't informed about this he said the hotel is not obliged to inform the guest about the upcoming parties, good to know, and also unacceptable as we payed for a nice relaxed stay and no one gave a damn about us. The breakfast was nice, but then we headed to the spa where the jacuzzi was really cold almost as cold as the swimming pool, when I asked the lady if she can do anything about that she said shes gonna call the maintenance, she start dialing, and as soon as i went back to the corridor which lead you to the changing rooms i stopped to hear if shes going to sort that out or not, and without saying a word she put down the phone as she thought im already gone. Another two lady and a gentleman went to ask them if the temperature is going to change but we got the same answer that they working on it, obviously nothing happened. Again unacceptable. At the end of our stay we felt cheated, we were really upset as our city break gone horrible thanks to Mercure, what a waste of money. Hope they will change these things in the future as the hotel it self and the rooms are really nice.

« Not as good as last year »

The room was nice, and the lady on reception when we checked in was lovely. Unfortunately, my husband was unhappy with his interactions with your reception staff when he checked out. As we had paid for the parking for 48 hours, well after the time we were due to leave, he was surprised at the aggressive attitude of your reception staff. They apparently advised him that they had his card details and that they were intending to withhold the room key so he would not be able to use it to check out of the car park when we were due to leave. As we have stayed with you before, for the two day stitching conference I wasn't pleased. I wish he had told me whilst I was still there as I could have come to reception and explain. Nothing was charged to our room. We had been told we could leave the car there after checking out until the retreat day had finished at 3pm. The food in the restaurant was not as good as previous years either. The service was dreadful. Two hours for a 2 course meal of mediocre food meant we couldn't have more than drink in the bar together afterwards as it was closed.

The reception was grand but the rooms was not, I felt it had a different vibe to the entrance and I felt it was very disappointing. Nice breakfast and hotel was clean, I enjoyed the pool area even tho it was very dark not much lightening. This hotel for the money need Major improvements with its interior.

« It was OK, the rooms are a little tired and the pool needs to be decorated »

It's like most hotels these days, the money is spent making the reception and the bar look nice. I was in a really large twin room but disappointed the space was not used to put two double beds in. Instead, I had a really uncomfortable single bed. The rooms are clean and there are new lights and connections for USB charging by the bed which is nice. The spa facilities could do with a deep clean and some redecoration to bring it up-to-date

The aerial on my TV was broken when I first checked into my room so I had to call maintenance but they fixed it quickly. The room service was terrible - I ordered a pizza and it didn't come pre-sliced, but all I was provided with to cut it myself was a wooden knife. The pizza itself was not nice. The room itself was clean and roomy and the breakfast the following morning was good.

Although located on the fringe of the city centre, the hotel was easy to find. Do not be put off by the slightly dated exterior as inside the property is well appointed with spacious rooms. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Would stay again when back in the city.
