« Car parking difficult to find, restaurant food not great, but room excellent as was breakfast »

I struggled to find the car park, no signage at all. Also barrier was a bit off putting when it was found. The restaurant meal was as if it had been reheated, but the chips were excellent. Breakfast was the usual self service affair and was excellent, the bacon and eggs especially. The room was large and felt more akin to a suite. The room was between the lifts which filed me with dread as to noise as I am a light sleeper, however I didn't hear another guest at all, and the lifts were unheard too. As the hotel is in the centre of Cardiff there was some traffic noise including the wail of a few sirens, police ambulance etc, but in general a good hotel, that I would visit again.

Was a lovley Hotel, all staff were polite and helpful. When filling out the check list for the option to have breakfast in the room the following morning, it didn’t state anywhere tonsay there was a £10 charge for this untill the breakfast was being served that next morning! Lovely experience at the spa having a back massage, the therapists were so helpful and made you feel so relax, the spa receptionists didn’t discuss the deals you could have if you were a staying guest at the hotel untill we read the booklets once we had gotten to the room!

« Needs refurbishment »

Have stayed here many times but the rooms really need to be refurbished, the spa, especially the jacuzzi is very tired and worn and certainly not the luxury treat you claim. The hotel was extremely busy this weekend and just chaos everywhere. Twice when we were at the bar someone started to serve us then disappeared to have a conversation with another member of staff, at one point she was in the middle of pouring a pint and left the glass half full and went off to solve yet another problem with a staff member. The reception was just as chaotic, even ordering a taxi became a major issue, our room was not cleaned on the Saturday, they did offer to come and do it but by then it was 5 o’clock and we wanted to get changed to go out. There didn’t seem to be anyone in charge this weekend, especially not in the bar, just lots of staff running around adding to the chaos not sorting it. This hotel is normally my first choice when I stay in Cardiff but until the rooms and the spa areas are refurbished I will stay somewhere else.

« Disappointed with the restaurant service this visit »

Restaurant staff, food & service quite poor this visit compared to previous stays. On arrival at 8pm for table booking we were told by a tall guy that we were late and the table was reallocated. On his list it showed 7.30pm but my confirmation showed 8pm & I showed this but there was no apology. It was extremely busy with a coach party and all tables were full so 6 of us were seated on two round tables joined sort of together in the middle of everyone, it was not easy to chat amongst our party due to the tables & noise levels. Most of us ordered Chicken and half way through we noticed the chicken was quite red and uncooked. The usual shorter guy acknowledged this and showed the chefs who apologised and offered free Pizzas but the whole experience was ruined at this time. We were treated to a round of drinks. Appreciate it was busy in the restaurant but our complete evening was ruined & makes us think twice about returning in the future. At breakfast the next morning there were hardly any staff to clear the tables and I ended up stacking used plates on the bench seat next to us to make some room. Hotel room and reception staff pleasant and helpful. Spa staff and treatment were as good as previous visits.

Very disappointed. Came for Estyn awards evening and first time stay at Mercure. Room was spacious and bed comfortable but strong smell coming from bathroom drainage which got worse as the evening and night went on (didn’t arrive until 5.30pm) meant we checked out at 7ish the following morning and didn’t stay to use the facilities which we were intending to do. Reception offered to send maintenance but can’t see how they would have solved the problem there and then. Stay ruined as a result.

Overall happy with our stay rooms I thought were quite standard considering we upgraded to the best room we were also evacuated during our 3 course meal as fire alarm went off had to stand outside freezing for 30 minutes before we could go back upstairs for our main meal

However I was disappointed in the telephone service prior to my arrival. I had contacted to hotel to request a late checkout and was quite surprised how difficult it was to get through to the hotel Once I had finally done so I was told that we could have the room until 2.00 at no cost. When we checked in this was not honoured as We were told there was no mention of it on the booking and that any late check out was subject to a charge. I did not want to make a fuss as I was with a friend and did notwant to spoil her experience however I do feel that this should noted as it was very disappointing at the poor lack of service and communication. It does not give me any confidence in trying to contact accir hotels by telephone in the future.

The SPA was lovely and the staff and treatments received were excellent. The room was ok, a bit small as the beds were almost crammed together and not the triple I had confirmed in the email from you. I had ordered a bottle of wine to be in the room and had to ring reception as it wasn’t in room and it arrived warm. The three course set menu was ok. Starters were lovely but we both hadn’t the risotto and found it a bit bland. Would have liked more choice. The gentleman at the bar was very good at making cocktails and made requests that were not on the menu
