« 3 hour wait for eve meal, no fridge in room, paid extra for single bed and it was a z bed »

Still waiting for receptionist to refer to manager and ring me back or email with refund as not happy, we paid for son to stay with England team £300 and the. Another £290 for us to stay 2 nights, service unsatisfactory. I await to hear from you urgently.

« Not the nicest staff, not a bad room but not totally clean and broken things everywhere. »

During the night, had a phone call from reception and was told to go down to the lobby if I want to speak in my room - either the walls are extremely thin or whoever complained about noise got the wrong room, as the other person in my room was asleep at the time and the phone woke her up. So how it could’ve been a necessary complaint I’m not sure. On this also, the manner I was addressed on the phone was quite rude and abrupt, which I didn’t appreciate especially considering I was being told I was talking to myself. Otherwise average stay, very hot weekend and no fan or air con was a huge let down. The room had a lot of imperfections but wasn’t awful.

Very clean and well presented hotel in a lovely setting. Our stay overall was pleasent and my rating would have been much higher should the reception team have been better. The receptionist we first spoke to when checking in was not very friendly towards us and was almost patronizing. We were not welcomed with a smile and she sort of rushed us through our check in. When we returned later in the evening to ask what time the pool shut, she only responded with “It is closed”. I then asked her again what time it shut and was met with “It is closed, it opens at 7:30”. I asked her one final time what time it shut and once again was just met with “It is closed but will open at 7:30”. This was very frustrating and I’m my opinion rude. We are a young couple and it was almost as if she believed we were not good enough for your hotel. We then watched her handle a complaint regarding payment with another guest who she was also very short and abrupt with. The 2 receptionists who were on the following morning were far more helpful and friendly. Our room was lovely and clean, our bed was made up of twinned beds which wasn’t excellent but was acceptable considering we were staying in the lowest rate room. I do think we should have been notified about the twinned beds though as we probably would’ve considered paying for an upgrade should we have known. The breakfast staff were very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast itself was good and had a great range of choices. However, (admittedly we came down at about 9:40- and breakfast finished at 10:30) the tables all had mismatched, leftover crockery and cutlery which was then brought to our table (from other tables) once we sat down. This was a bit off putting and in a 4 star hotel one would expect tables to be relayed and ready for the next customer. Once again it felt like we were not wanted there. The staff in the leisure center were excellent! So friendly and explanatory. They showed us round the center and gave us explanations regarding classes, swimming times etc. the swimming pool itself was lovely and clean. Would thoroughly recommend it. The steam room, gym etc. were also just as good. We did not eat dinner at the hotel but had a drink in the bar both nights. It was well stocked with a large cariety of options. Friendly staff too. There was a wedding on both nights we were there however it was not a bother at all due to the layout of the hotel. This was pleasing and well arranged. All in all, we did enjoy our stay and would return if treated like valued customers and not just a young, irritating couple. The hotel itself was lovely and clean and comfortable. The surrounding areas were lovely and there is loads of places near by to visit and sightsee.

« Nice but slow »

We got there around 12pm to have lunch prior to spa treatment at 1:20pm. We ordered on arrival and the food turned up at 1.10 which wasn't very helpful. Treatments were nice as was dinner. Breakfast we had a 15 minute wait before being able to get a table - which again wasn't ideal. Check out was slow and although I booked on the website and it appeared to take my payment, I was presented will the full bill to pay on departure..

« misrepresentation on website booking and lack of communication »

Dreadful. Searched online specifically for air conditioned rooms and leisure facilities, Brandon Hall came up and on the front screen it clearly states rooms are air conditioned - at no point does it make it clear anywhere that only certain rooms are air conditioned and after looking at several sites for research, leaving the feature out on the final screen of room selection is not acceptable and completely misrepresenting. Furthermore, the same goes for the leisure facilities only being available via a walk outside, I would not ever book a hotel with leisure facilities only reachable from an outside walk and a room without air conditioning. Finally, the 3rd thing that completely ruined my stay was a wedding which completely took over the hotel meaning no access to the restaurant on the Saturday night and an hour wait for breakfast on the Sunday which left me a 10 minute window to have my breakfast and there was no fresh food available because the chef refused to cook more as breakfast was almost finished.

Female bar staff rude and they thought it humorous that another customer had waited an 11/2 for lunch he finally had to leave for work ,I asked for an extra pillow it never arrived. The first morning we was asked if we wanted tea or coffee, when it didn't arrive I asked the waitress if we could please have the tea coffee. She made no apology and seem annoyed that I troubled her. We over heard a few customers complaining about the evening meals. We ate at the Royal Oak it's reasonably priced and the portions are good.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights as part of the Angling Trust England Youth Group. The hotel room was of a good standard, however the food was of a very poor standard and the waiting time every evening was about 2 hours. It seemed very clear that the hotel was not prepared for a large group. This is disappointing for such a large hotel with conference facilities.

« Nice hotel with good spa treatments, lovely food. »

Overall, a lovely relaxing break which was a good value package with Wowcher. Very nice food. Good spa - enjoyed treatments very much. Appreciated been able to use spa from arrival until late checkout. Minor issues with being given wrong room, key cards not working, not being told pool shut for an hour. Pool area very hot - too hot just to stay and relax poolside. Shame spa complex not connected to hotel so you don’t have to keep getting changed when going from room to pool and spa. Hotel in nice setting, but nowhere to sit outside in the shade - much more could have been made of outside areas given the hot weather.

Evening restaurant staff were nice and polite but they were rushing around, they must of never been that busy. Maybe more staff are needed. Morning breakfast staff- was told to take a seat and not one clear/clean table. Need to be quicker tidying up tables

« Okay stay, slightly overpriced »

We had no issues in getting to our room and our room was of a good size and clean with modern decor and the bed was comfortable. We had breakfast included in our stay and received a discount for booking onto a wedding party, paying £90 for 1 night for 1 room. The breakfast service very busy and the staff didn’t seem to cope well, we had to wait 15 minutes to be seated although there were plenty of empty tables and we were disappointed that it was a buffet.

« Chaotic & Poorly managed, but shows potential »

Quality of the food and the spa were brilliant, as was the deal to visit. Sadly, the experience was let down by the speed of service from the kitchen, the farce of a breakfast (no tables, then no cutlery and finally no food) and grubby/dirty furniture in the rooms.

Anonymous Families - 07/08/2018 AccorHotels certified review

Check in very efficient room however extremely hot which could not be helped due to extreme weather. Hotel for wedding good although removing wine from tables whilst still drinking not good!! Breakfast very poor!!

Aaron Couples - 07/08/2018 AccorHotels certified review
« Below average »

Nice polite staff, but dinner took ages, seemed understaffed, no proper guidance in the stay and what I should do such as booking a dinner reservation rather than turning up, it wasn’t very organised and it seemed the hotel could not cope with the amount of people which generally they should be able to. Hotel is nice, old fashioned, but clean.
