Room not ready until 3pm, complimentary drink given. Lovely large room with comfy bed. Dinner and breakfast very good. Staff professional and friendly but overstretched , especially in bar.

Understaffed and no communication with spa staff. Jaccuzzi broken entire 2 night stay which was the reason for booking as wife has cancer and was looking for muscle hydrotherapy. Closed 1 hr early on second night with note on door being put up as we arrived in robes!! Drawing room and whiskey bar closed all day Sunday " for a private function" which ended up for a coach load that arrived at 8.00pmat night. So no afternoon tea in the drawing room as advertised. Understaffed by admission of bar and dining staff on both nights at the hotel. Very limited gluten free available apart from frozen bread. Did online check in but staff said they don't recognise it so waited 20 min to check in at reception.

Fantastic staff, very good supper and excellent breakfast. Super quality and large selection at breakfast. Only thing that let the quality down was the sausage. Otherwise amazing. Turret room was fantastic, free bar, whisky fruit and chocolates were lovely touch. Room could do with some TLC. Fire notice had fallen off door and broken, two of the sash windows wouldn't stay open and one of the roller blinds was broken.

We had an itison voucher for an overnight stay, bed and breakfast with a bottle of wine on arrival. The room and facilities were lovely, we dined in Blair’s restaurant at night and the food was fabulous. The only downside was the bottle of wine was not in the fridge in our room as the receptionist told us. We called up as soon as we got to our room and I felt like the receptionist didn’t believe us that the bottle of wine wasn’t there. A member of staff came up to check then brought us the bottle, she was quite blunt and didn’t apologise for the mistake. We were left feeling like it was our fault when it clearly wasn’t. Apart from that, hotel is lovely.

Reception explained our room was a bit of a walk but had a beautiful view..this wasn't true, I didn't mind but it would be better not to say to guests if they don't have a lovely view then it manages expectations. I also had to ask some questions as she spoke so quickly I couldn't understand what she was saying..I think this is just due to her saying the same thing over and over to the guests however it would be helpful to slow down a bit. I have also worked on reception in a hotel in St Andrews previously. The duvet cover didn't cover the full mattress, glasses in the room were dirty. I requested an iron and clean glass at 6pm as we had a reservation at 6.30. I called down again at 6.15 and then my husband went down at 6.25 to advise we wouldn't be on time for dinner and to see if he could pick up the iron in case they were busy and received some rudeness from reception. Advising us the hotel doesn't provide irons to guests..however there are ironing boards in the rooms. We requested soft drinks in the room on arrival instead of a bottle of wine, when we arrived there was 1 J20 in the room with the dirty glass, I requested another one with a clean glass. Having worked in the hotel industry myself I can completely understand these things happen however I believe in managing the situation by attitude and feel this didn't happen with the reception area. We did however after this receive diet coke to the room from housekeeping with ice and limes which is much more than we expected and then with the iron which was great. We managed to be seated for our meal at 7pm after being advised the next table was at 8pm. We could see the restaurant manager really did make the effort to help us out. « Nice Hotel but blighted by a rude, unhelpful receptionist »

Nice Hotel but blighted by a being given a room that didn’t accommodate 2 x adults and 2 x children as per our booking. I then contacted the reception and got the most rude, unhelpful and unaccommodating receptionist. Waiting staff couldn’t be nicer and the food was lovely. Shame our stay was marred by this.

The hotel room was perfect for my stay, however the room was far too warm and not able to adjust the temperature, reception provided a vertical fan cooler but this had no effect on room temperature, making sleeping uncomfortable. Staff were excellent and service was excellent, overall very satisfied.

It is a marvelous hotel and great location and found everything and everybody very pleasant BUT having a problem with my walking I did ask for a room suitable for somebody with a disability. The shower would have been great if only I had the confidence to go in it. I need a grab bar to steady myself ! It is very difficult to find suitable hotels for disabled people. I was at one time a very able person. I think this is a market that should be looked at closely with the help and advice of people who have had experience of such situations.

The hotel is a lovely upmarket stay which featured the use of the spa facilities and included cooked/continental breakfast. The only downside I had was I felt the price did not reflect the room. While the temperature and room layout was fine. The windows seemed to be slightly damaged with what looked like a crack or some type of fault with the material. The blind above also seemed to be non working but did not hinder the sleep as there was curtains in place as well. In addition, it was disappointing that we had a bad window view of roofs and pipes (obviously, I'm aware this cannot be helped but perhaps these rooms could have reduced prices) Despite all of this, we enjoyed our stay and would return for future event but would want to view and choose our room to reflect the price being asked.

Was well below expectations for Ardoe as a 4 star hotel. Staff seemed untrained /new/unsure. They were nice but the service level was below par. Little details such as water while we waited at dinner didn't arrive for 10 minutes, at the spa I wasn't offered a robe or water until the end of my treatments, our key cards checked themselves out at 12 which we hadn't been told at check in despite having a late check out until 2pm. We weren't offered towels at the gym. The bar charged 5.20 for a pint of orange and lemonade. Bread at dinner came after the starters. The restaurant looked tired, old tables, dated decor, dull lighting.
