Overall OK... check in time was too long considering my accommodation had already been debited from my credit card. Still applying a charge of a next to zero value on my credit card on check-in is also I have never seen if over 30 years of travelling. Room was OK, but thermostat to control the room temperature was just like "a wall decoration" as it did not work.

« The overall experience was very positive. »

The cleanliness of the hotel and friendly staff were especially commendable. The location of the hotel is also excellent. The lady staff who brought our room service was extremely courteous and went out of her way to bring us the bedroom slippers which we mentioned we would have liked to have. Exceeded our expectations. Owan Atkins who manages the breakfast team performs his duties to perfection. He remembered us from our previous trip about 2 to 3 years ago.

« Great Service, hotel room quality was disappointing for the price. »

The check in service and staff were great. I was disappointed with the "Privilege room" quality. The TV signal was poor, the carpets were worn, and the room looked like it was in need of redecoration. Considering I paid £240 for a room I was really disappointed. The lift in the reception lobby was still out of order from a previous stay a couple of months ago which I thin is really poor. The lobby of the hotel was spotless and the service was great as always, its such a shame the rooms look to be neglected considering the rates charged. The WiFi in the room did not work (this did work in the lobby) which was also a shame.

Stayed two nights. Our room wasn't serviced whilst we were there. It took two calls to reception to get replacement towels, tea etc. Complimentary things in bathroom could be improved, only had one shampoo and one bath gel. Conditioner and body lotion would be welcome. One lift out of use during our stay so difficult getting to room most of the time. Drinks in bar expensive. On a positive note restaurant staff and food very good.

Nothing special. Rooms a little dated, would benefit from little touches such as water and biscuits. Receptionists need to explain why amount swiped of card differs to the agreed rare. Restaurant area could've been warmer.

Checking in at reception was quite slow as there was only one member of staff attending. Eventually a second member of staff was summoned but only after a 10 minute wait. As ever, my room was a good size, very comfortable and with a good quality bathroom and shower.

« Small difficulties were overcome, and my overall stay was pleasant. »

In all, quite good. A few problems with the room (inoperable safe, room door not latching) were addressed promptly by the staff. My arrival was not great. Yes, I arrived in mid morning before normal check in time. I had requested an early check in if possible. At the desk, I was told there were absolutely no clean rooms whatsoever and I should come back in three hours. I stepped aside to pull a few things out of my luggage before I checked by bags. I was approached by a different staff member who said they could offer me a room immediately for some amount of money (45 pounds?). It wasn’t offered as an upgrade, and it seemed contradictory to what I had just been told. After a transAtlantic flight and a train ride from Manchester, I was exhausted. This was not the welcome I had expected, especially since I had gone to the trouble to check in online before my trip. I declined the offer to pay additional money for a room and spent a few hours walking in the rain ( otherwise I would have fallen asleep in the lobby). I would like to say that the breakfast staff were, to a person, absolutely delightful, professional, and friendly. They, and the wonderful breakfast offerings, were the best and most reliable part of my stay. Housekeeping staff were also very good.

« Excellent Night's Sleep and Great Facilities »

I had a wonderful night's sleep in a very comfortable bed, with a warm duvet, spacious shower, beautiful view out of the window, and plenty of room. The swimming pool was lovely, and the lighting there relaxing. I've scored 9 rather than 10 only because the lighting in the bedroom was a little too dim to properly do my makeup at the dressing table, and because there were some building works in the changing room of the swimming pool. However, the staff were lovely and very attentive, and the breakfast was exceptional. I particularly enjoyed breakfasting next to the large window looking out onto the winter gardens.

I choose this hotel for its facilities and location which are both excellent. Down side is that rooms are a bit dated for the money paid, and TV selection is very limited with some signal issues on last trip too. Staff is very quick to respond and provides good service.

Average. Awful mattress, appalling room service. No pepperoni pizza, ended up with some weird chicken concoction pizza. Arrived only luke warm. No real apology from room service. Will try and stay elsewhere on my request trips to Sheffield. Our business books over 50 rooms every month in Sheffield!
