Spa area was nice, bar area and restaurant was very clean and well maintained. Was disappointed that we couldn’t check in until past 2:30 because the rooms were still dirty. My wife was ill so could really have done with being able to get her in the room!

« Minor matters distinguish between good and really good »

Staff are very friendly and willing but minor points detract from excellence. I have stayed a number of times over the last 3/4 years. I do not expect reception to recognise me, but system should tell them I am a returning visitor, it would be nice to hear ‘Welcome back Mr M.’. Reception seemed a bit rushed, had to dig around in the system to find my reservation. Meant details were not printed out. As a silver member one perk is a daily newspaper, not immediately offered. Works on night one, but not night two. On leaving system down so invoice could not be produced. Promised that it would be sent to me by email. Five days later I have still not received. Also I cannot see my Accor points have been added to my Accor account. Reception Able to see I was a Silver member but on departure could not confirm my account number was held, written down manually. Restaurant food is very good and room 50 was very comfortable. Will stay again, but that little bit of extra care would make a big difference

« Obliging staff at hotel in good location but rooms that have not been refurbished for a long time »

We have stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions because it is conveniently located to visit family; As we are familiar with the hotel we were not surprised by the room that needed a refurbishment but the room was quiet and the staff are helpful.

The hotel itself was beautiful and the staff were really lovely, unfortunately the low rating was is due to your spa, I had brought a spa treatment as a Christmas present for my partner and mother in law which we booked on the 21st of august 2019 for a time of 09.00 on the 04/11/2019, we received a phone call from yourselves to say that the time given was not suitable and we were asked if a 10.15-10.30 slot would be ok which we agreed was fine, my partner herself was in contact with the hotel and spa at least 3 times over the months before we were due to arrive, we had booked and paid for 2 rooms within your establishment because there were five of us and it made sense to stay over night as the only reason we had travelled here was for the spa, unfortunately when my partner and mother in law arrived to have there treatment which they were really looking forward to, they were told that no booking had been made which we knew was incorrect as I have the email on my phone saying it had , I have also been in contact with the company which I received the spa gift from and they confirmed that the booking had been made, we were offered a 12.30 slot which we could not accommodate as we had other plans later that day, this simply is not good enough as we have lost out and have paid money to stay over for nothing really as the whole reason for booking at albrighton hall and spa, was to use the gift experience that I purchased. « Mixed feelings regarding the overall experience »

My sister and I were very happy with our room, very comfortable and clean. However, we found some of the male staff rather imperious. For example, in the restaurant on asking for some butter with the cheese plate, the waiter repeated the word butter and grimaced. There was also an other incident in the bar which we had to report and was dealt with at the time. We were astonished that at no time did any member of the management team come and apologise to us. It should also be noted we are two elderly ladies who were put in room 24 and had to carry our cases up the stairs with no offer of assistance. We were pointed in the direction and had no idea of the journey to the room.

« Excellent service, welcome and facilities »

My friend Amy and I come every year fo a spa package, dinner, bed and breakfast. We love the spa and the service we receive when coming to the hotel. We were a bit annoyed that this year we had to include a cream tea in our package as we didn't really need this and it added an extra £20 on to the cost. But other than that, our time there was lovely and we will be back again!

« Good stay overall »

Lovely location very reasonable rates I had room number 20 which was a suite on the second floor overall it was adequate room was have a good size not a particularly good mattress bathroom was very small and the shower was over the bath. Very good parking facilities friendly staff starting to look a bit tired the carpet on the stairs looks like the household cavalry marches on it daily but for a Friday and a Saturday evening £270 including breakfast my expectations were not that high And I would definitely stay here again

« Great place, only food that disappoints »

We enjoyed the use of the spa facilities and had great treatments. The hotel was clean and well kept. We ordered food on the night at the bar and it wasn’t very nice. The chicken was very dry and we asked for mayo 3 times and it took approx 20 minutes for this to arrive, by which time our food was cold. The prices of the food were very high for what you actually get and we left hungry tempted to find somewhere else to eat away from the hotel

« A hotel that’s dull of character »

A lovely setting, staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The lounge is like a step back in time with panelled walls it is full of character. The food in the restaurant was well presented and value for money. The spa is nice, although only one steam room and sauna were working. They could do with updating as looking a little worn.

« Disappointing »

After being put in two unsuitable rooms, we did end up in a lovely room. Staff were very friendly and the evening meal in the restaurant was delicious. Reception staff on arrival were very helpful. The spa treatments were average, and we were left waiting quite some time. Breakfast was disjointed, with a very slow start and no explanation of the ordering process. Signage contradicted the correct process. On leaving, reception staff were busy inputting information on a computer and we were asked to wait for approx 5 minutes, when another member of staff offered to help. Overall, the package was below expectations. No explanation of the package or directions to facilities around the hotel.

« Some good, some not good - so a mixed (and disappointing stay) »

The facilities live up to the four-star rating. We had a nice spacious room, with a large good bathroom, all well-equipped, well maintained and clean. The lounge, dining room, bar and leisure facilities are all as would be expected. The service was where things got a bit mixed. Our check-in experience was poor. In the restaurant the dinner service was very good, the breakfast service less so. The busy staff at breakfast seemed to have higher priorities than serving the customers. The buffet had a good range on offer as expected, tea was served in teapots (thank you), and there is also a ‘specials’ menu of things not on the buffet. Unfortunately there is only one copy of this special menu in the dining room, you’ll not be told about it so you’ll have to track it down and assert your right to order from it. Overall, much was good, some things less so. The overall impression: disappointing for a four-star Accor Group Mercure hotel.

We were in the stable block which we would have liked to have been warned about before we arrived. Would have preferred to have been in the main building. It took 3 complaints before our shower was fixed.

Our return visit was very good. Great reception and so helpful. Small niggle - tiny bath towels which were also thin, which was a bit surprising considering everything else is so good. Restaurant menu expensive for the food presented and far too many supplements to the price.
