Rooms very clean, staff very polite and helpful. First room that l stayed in(218) very noisy toilet. Second room (320) very nice. Only slight comment bar menu not a lot of choice, when your working on your own you don't feel like going to the restaurant . Overall stay very good.

An overnight - but with a grandchild. Having booked a family room, surprised to be given a basic double but, as soon as reception understood the problem, it was quickly remedied and we were moved to a family room. We were late (ish) to breakfast and the buffet could have done with replenishing. The breakfast staff were very good at dealing with the demands of a hyper 6 year old.

« Room 210 Satisfactory - shame about the smell and restriction on opening the window. »

Room 210 - On Saturday evening there was a dreadful smell which appeared to be coming from the bathroom. It was reported and attended within 10 mins. A move was not requested or expected but wanted you to be aware so that it can be sorted for any future visitors. Also there was a metal bar preventing the window opening fully, it only opened about 1 inch which did result in the room being very warm so the fan was used but this will have added to the intensity of the smell as we could not open the window. I assume that this was in place a security measure but not sure if this creates a fire hazard? The room was booked in addition to the Luckhurst block booking (wedding off site) but booked separately as all of the allocated rooms had been used. Some of our party had slippers which we did not, nor were there any bath robes which we had hoped for. However, the room was comfortable.

When you have to weight over 3 hours for your bath robes and slippers you know this will not be an enjoyable stay at what is meant to be a 4 star hotel. We will never stay at a Mercure hotel again.

« not what i expect from a Mercure hotel, very poor. »

I was in room 313. The hot water pressure was pitiful and i was unable to have a shower. I had to use the gym facilities. The GM was helpful and refunded 50% of my room fee but this is still a very unsatisfactory situation for a 4 * hotel. Secondly 50% of the beers on tap in the main bar were unavailable and the staff had to go outside to another location to get drinks. Hardly fair on them or the guests. 4* ??? More like 1*

I took over this hotel 2 weeks to today as a General Manager and understanding this property. I totally agree with your comments in relation to shower in bed room and beer lines. Beer lines is fixed now, its basically the refrigeration system which I just spend £3K and got it done. with regards to water pressure I understand from our maintenance manager its the plumbing which is the concern. looks like i need to get the walls breakdown and get bigger size water pipes to get the flow improved. I addressed this with the owners as it involves breaking walls in 3 different floors, in the mean while I allocated this as a last let room at discounted price. I am aiming to get this done in 1-2 months time. I appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future. It was a good weekend stay, we ordered room service and the burger was delicious. On the day of departure we had some lunch, I had a jacket potato with cheese and my partner had a beef sandwhich, for £5.95 I would’ve expected a bit more of a better cooked jacket potato and I struggled to eat it cold. Other than that everything was lovely. The rooms are nice.

The hotel is beautiful and very well maintained and clean. The whole ambience is very relaxing and staff are very attentive. Spa and pool area are exceptional and the best I have ever experienced. My only negative would be some of the food we had did not match up to the quality of the hotel. Breakfast was slow coming out of the kitchen so people were waiting as not the full breakfast was ready.

« Substandard for the brand, tired hotel, untrained staff, little competition to keep it on the mark. »

Consistently poor. Unlike most Accor brands, it felt like an amateur organisation, with little, if any formal training for (the fundamentally good) staff. Property mostly in poor state of repair, with little pride given to appearances. No visible management influences. I had placed a US colleague in your hotel for a two week stay but his comments were quite embarrassing when comparing to US service standards. F & B offerings almost acceptable, but again, levels of service in that area are lacking. Last visit was a Privilege room; disappointing to have a Nespresso machine, but an empty capsule container.

Our stay was satisfactory. Two complaints: 1) our checking at the hotel was delayed for 2.5 hours due to our room not being ready. 2) at breakfast Sunday morning we were asked if we were with the wedding party? We said yes and then we were placed on a large round table, the only problem, we were with the wrong party when other people arrived for breakfast. On reflection we wasn't asked the name of the groom, but we were unaware that 2 wedding parties were in the hotel. This did spoil our breakfast experience. Thank you.

When I arrived and checked into my room at 2 pm it stunk of weed I rang reception and told them and was told some one would come up and sort it. At 4 pm went back to the room and it was no different. Rang reception again and they sent house keeping up. She sprayed the room and moped the floor. I told her I was not happy paying £85 for a room that smelled like a drug den and she said she would speak to some one. At 1am went back to room and the smell was still there. By this time I’d had enough. Wen I checked out in the morning I told the receptionist and was not offer a refund or anything. I think I should of been moved or some kind of refund. I was not prepare to go mad about it I’m the day as my nephew was getting married. Mathew m.. I would like this to be looked in. As I did complain 3 times. Thank you Maxine m.. Room 210
