« Wonderful stay at the Mercure Hotel Granville! »

We had a very positive experience at the Mercure Hotel Granville and we would definitely go back there in case of another trip to Normandie! The location of the hotel is wonderful, directly facing the ocean, and also central to go into town. The whole staff was always very helpful and friendly. We also had a dinner based of fish at the hotel which was really delicious. The room was also simply great and very spacious. The only aspect that wasn’t ‘perfect’ of the room was was the very strong wind at night which, having the bed in the rooftop room, made it difficult to sleep during, but guess this is simply due to the position of the hotel and the insonorization seems already good so guess there isn’t much to improve... We definitely look forward to coming back again hopefully soon!!

The position of the hotel and the quality of the rooms were excellent. However, the lack of a proper restaurant was disappointing and I feel the website is misleading as it promotes a Restaurant with the words Lunch and Dinner. However, Dinner is only 'snacks' or a seafood platter which was no use to us. Walking into town for a proper restaurant was down a steep hill, not suitable for us. I chose this hotel specifically for its location and because I thought it had a proper restaurant, sadly not. We did eat in the 'restaurant', and the view was lovely, but the service was poor, the food was served on a tray and the quality was better suited to somewhere cheaper than a Mercure. The breakfast was ok but not very well laid out - I have had better at other IBIS and Mercures. A good hotel but the catering needs addressing!

we were traveling through France using Mercure hotels and found this hotel that was VERY central to the water with amazing views(we were water front) the service agents were very attentive and were able to help us coordinate and make reservations for dinners. The only down fall for me was the parking. Even though they have parking its a very European standard parking of very small space, which made me nervous parking a rental. But either way i survived without a scratch. Most defintly will suggest this hotel for a stop over, Mont St. Micheal and some of the other attractions are only one hour away and Christian Dior museum is 5 min walk.

Staff excellent Very friendly welcome and advice. Parking very difficult On a public road. Breakfast very disappointing. Unless you went in early the hot dishes had run out and were not refilled despite request.

We booked a privilege room with balcony overlooking the sea. On arrival, it was great, with the sun shimmering on the sea. The room, with excellent walk-in shower was a little smaller than other privilege room, but the balcony and view made up for it. There were 2 big disappointments, though, neither of which would have been a problem if we were both able to walk easily, which one of us was not. First, the "lift to the promenade" took us to the top of a steep flight of about 20 steps to get from the lift to the promenade. This meant we were not able to walk into town for an evening meal, which we wanted to do. Secondly the evening meal was something of a snack if you did not want seafood, which neither of us did. We could have driven out in the evening, but the underground car park was quite tortuous, and it was a shame we could not just use the lift and walk to the casino area, with a lot of restaurants available. On the plus side, the staff were very helpful and with good English, and were especially supportive when we needed local medical support, which was arranged by the hotel with an English-speaking doctor.

« Overall the stay was ok but ... »

The hotel is nice and clean with very good breakfast. The staff was friendly and helpful. However one thing was disappointed. We were travelling in France in two families and always we have stayed in accorhotels like Novotel or Ibis Style. In every place, because we booked two separates rooms, we were welcomed with two free drinks (one drink per room I guess). But in this hotel such warm welcome was refused to us. I would say that in that case making good impression would cost to Mercury 8.5 EUR. It is a shame.

Didn’t feel that welcome when we arrived. Lack of breakfast items each day, had to ask most day for more things. Lack of staff to serve in the bar area, we sat for 20 mins without being served and then went out. Lack of food variety for evenings when the town restaurants are closed. Cleanliness was good in the room. We found the top up of coffee etc in the room was done late afternoon, so we often came back from trips to find no water. We had booked parking but were not informed of the charge until we got the bill at the end.

Good location, attentive staff and excellent breakfast. Only downside was bathroom towels which were small and worn plus the air conditioning was controlled centrally and had to ask reception every time you wanted to adjust it.

« We had a comfortable and enjoyable stay at Mercure Granville and will come again. »

The staff were very helpful, the room was comfortable and spotless, the bar and breakfast area were well organised and well run and had a lovely view overlooking the promenade. There was a good selection at breakfast and provision to heat eggs and other foods. Plenty of good coffee. The hotel is well situated and although the walk to the shops is steep it is a small price to pay for the view and general location. Vehicle access to the underground parking is a bit tight but we managed to get in and out in our Tiguan with no real difficulty. Our room had a nice little balcony which was sheltered but still had a sea view. The bed was large and comfortable and the room was quiet. The shower was hot and powerful although the bath towels were a bit tired, but this is a very minor issue. We really enjoyed our stay in Mercure Granville and will be back again.

A good, modern, clean, well run hotel with helpful staff. Room was pleasant with a super little balcony giving a sea view but sheltered as well. The bed was enormous and comfortable, the bathroom was clean and well presented, and the shower was powerful. Bath towels were a bit skimpy but ok. The breakfast room had a great sea view, was well organised and attended and had a good selection on offer. The hotel is well situated and is a steep (but fairly short) walk to shops etc. There is underground parking on 2 levels with an interestingly steep and curved vehicle access and fairly tight spaces but we found it worked for our Tiguan with little difficulty. Pedestrian access to the car park is by lift which also goes down another 2 floors closer to the promenade on the sea front. Then there are steps down to promenade level some way below. We liked it and will go there again.

I felt completely at home and cared for like I was family. The room with loft and balcony was excellent value and I loved having a glass of wine on the balcony and swimming in the ocean pool. The area is beautiful and easily accesses the Dior Museum and some excellent shops and restaurants in the small town. I had an excellent experience.

Helpful and friendly staff. Nice room with balcony overlooking the sea. Good to have on site parking at a reasonable cost although accessing some spaces may be a challenge for larger vehicles. Breakfast a little expensive for what it was. I would return to this hotel if in the area again.

« Lovely hotel »

Lovely hotel in great position overlooking the bay. Very convenient for town and port area, with lots of restaurants nearby. Staff very helpful and cheerful. The only down side being the parking, or lack of parking, we had to park in the street quite a long uphill walk away.

With easy access to both the shore and the city, the Mecure Granville was the perfect stop for us; if I were to have one complaint it would be how tight the parking is underneath the hotel...I sadly managed to crap the side of my vehicle in one of the tight turns.

« Came on family recommendation - disappointed »

Having come to Accor from Fairmont, we were pleased that the hotel our cousins (who visit often) was a member hotel. We were given a room on the first floor over the hotel entrance. We arrived late and went directly to dinner. We tried to sleep with the terrace door open but because people were smoking outside and talking we needed to sleep with them closed. We found the room stuffy. It was also next to the elevator. We did not have a restful night sleep.
