Despite the excellent location, lovely staff and surprisingly comfortable rooms, I give the place 3 stars because of the nightmare breakfast situation. Every morning at breakfast the place was inundated with guests -- more of them than tables -- and because the majority of them were lingering and enjoying their second or fourth cup of coffee over their cell phone perusal it was impossible to secure seating. When we finally did we had to share the table and the buffet was decimated. As we were there four nights and had prepaid the breakfast for the entire stay that was the way we began each day. Not nice! The restaurant staff was very kind and apologetic, and suggested we arrive before 7:30 or after 9 AM. After 9 was better, but by then the self-serve buffet was a bit ragged plus we didn't really want to start our day so late. As they wouldn't reimburse for the pre-paid plan we were stuck. Word of advice: Avoid breakfast there and never prepay. It's a shame as the hotel room is quite comfortable with a king bed and functional bathroom and high ceilings and even a nice view of the distant waterfront. The only accommodation drawbacks were the sound of doors closing at all hours and the oddity of no air conditioning in the hallways. It was also very clean. So, until they can straighten out the breakfast or be more flexible with reimbursing a pre-payment for inferior service I suggest you avoid the restaurant.

The gym facility was closed for renovation but without advanced notice, the website still says the gym is available during the period I wanted to stay, this is very disappointing.

I was staying using my stayfree night. I was surprised that eventhough I stayed for free, I was treated same as paying guest, namely I was given candies and cake in the room when I arrived, complimentary drinks and chocolate in the fridge, and late check out unti 16.00 which in this case was very helpful since I have an errand which last around 14.00, in case I was not given the extended time, would make me troublesome to come back to check out. And last but not least, the ease of having a handy phone to go around and stay connected with my staff in Indonesia and friends in Singapore. Ibis Bencoolen was awesome.

Repeat guest, but first time as a corporate guest. However there was no executive room available for me despite my booking and I was offered a regular room with a change to the executive room the next day. I returned to the hotel after work the next day, went down to the reception to change rooms, went up to my room and noticed the glass water bottle in my room was opened and half consumed. Called guest services and was asked to go down and collect a new bottle myself at the reception. If it is something which should already be in the room when I check in, I would not consider it room service to ask for it to be brought to me. Yes, I was informed that the hotel does not do room service. Serviceable, functional, centrally located. I would stay again, but guest services needs to step up. Reception staff are amazing - Dash was particularly positive and impactful
