Average. The ladies at the bar counter on duty on 8 Jul evening whom I redeemed a welcome drink (coke) is not friendly. The soap, shower gel and the shampoo are all not Accor types that I have at other Accor hotels in Shanghai (eg Pullman and Sofitel). The toilet paper quality is so bad. But the male staff at the check in counter and the Concerige are very hospitable.

« This time is the worst of the three times I have stayed in this hotel. »

Unpleasant odour inside the room, not sure if it came from cigarette or toilet. Air conditioner wind direction cannot be adjusted with wind blowing towards us while sleeping. Breakfast was sub-standard quality: about 30+ fried eggs were pre-cooked and left on the plate, not hot and felt like eating fast food. The restaurant was pretty quiet with not many customers, so why the hurry to pre-fry so many eggs? Other foods also were not hot, e.g. sausages, congee....The safe vault was also not functioning properly even after fixing.

The hotel is still good and Mister Leon Liu did all he could to help me. But two points are really not on the good side: - Internet ... so bad connectivity... ok they give you a router if you ask but it’s unacceptable in 2018 - the breakfast is going down the drain in term of quality. I already said it last time. Low quality juice, less selection.... And guys... only hotel in the world I go to with no spare toilet roll in the toilet.. isn’t it stingy.. Regards

I stay a lot in hotels and typically only give positive feedback. However, I was extremely dissatisfied with my recent stays with this hotel and felt compelled to voice my concerns. The hotel hardware was not up to date (e.g. tiny and worn bath/shower), service was lacking (e.g. many empty trays at breakfast never refilled), and above all attitude was horrible. From many interactions over several stays, I do not recall a single smile from staff. In particular, I would like to highlight the following incident. On a recent stay, I had the misfortune of encountering a very rude restaurant staff member. At breakfast, when I ordered omelette and other items, he was sullen all the time, did not respond to my request at all, and simply threw dishes onto the table. That was totally rude and simply not acceptable behavior at an upscale international hotel -- frankly I expect better attitude from McDonald's or local street food vendors! When I pointed this out, the staff member in question went from bad to worse, coming up with all sorts of ridiculous excuses. I spoke with the restaurant manager, but he only continued with more excuses. I didn't escalate it further, as I was willing to give them another chance and hoped that things would improve. However, that turned out not to be the case. On my next stay, I encountered the same rude breakfast staff member. This time he simply left the station whenever I tried to order something. When I finally spoke to him, he just stormed back into the kitchen without answering me and never re-appeared. The whole scene was beyond ridiculous. Apparently he not only didn't t take guests' feedback to the heart and try to improve, but also went from bad to worse. I spoke to the restaurant manager again, but once again he didn't or wouldn't do anything. With such loose and incompetent management, no wonder such unacceptable staff behavior! This time I brought this matter to the attention of the highest hotel manager on duty. I have to give credit where it's due -- he was professional in our discussions and promised to investigate and follow up with me. Unfortunately, I never heard back from him. I travel a lot all over the world and hold top-tier status with several major hotel chains. This was by far my worst stay in a long time and I do not recall such horrible staff behavior from anywhere. Such rude staff have no place at Accor, and actually are not suitable for the hospitality industry at all. Until proper management action is taken, I simply will not set foot in this hotel again and will direct all my company business away, which runs for several million RMB per event. I generally have very positive experience with Accor hotels in Asia Pacific, but this hotel is a shame.

I stay there every year, because the hotel is 4 km far from our fairground, so. Rooms are always clean, but this year was our room little bit wet, all our clothes was a bit wet, but I think it comes from outside, because the humidity was very high and hot in Shanghai. Breakfast was common as usually, but good. Silly that it is still same every year :-) What was good joke is Welcome drink ... non alcoholic beverages as water, tea, Cola ... more worse hotels spends a time and will make you nice mixed drink, why not, how much it cost them? Laundry is expensive, cheaper is buy new shirt and jeans on the street he he.

None of the staff could communicate in English. Communication was a great barrier. Was overcharged while checking out, tried to clarify with them but they on the pretext of not understanding English dismissed the claim. Rushing for train hence did not argue further. Back in my own country, sent emails with booking attached to clarify on the overcharged room. Received no reply despite using google translate to send it in Chinese. called the hotel, the manager Wilfred refused to come to the phone. Request for them to get in touch via wechat, no one came forward. called up to 5 times, and numerous emails sent. No reply.

The hotel was in a quiet vicinity Hongqiao, Shanghai while I needed to reach subway station of Line 2 on foot for around 10 minutes. It should be good exercise but not in the sun at 34 degrees centigrade. Room size was spacious and service was satisfactory as good as expected. Breakfasts were good in quality and the crowd were not many during my stay. One credit given to Housekeeping, I asked for change of shower curtain and it was done in a few hours, prompt response to customer's request.

I was very disappointed with the meal, both at breakfast and dinner, Cold eggs being served, one morning it took 20 minutes to get a cup of coffee. I stayed there for 2 nights and then again for 4 nights. On my return stay I was placed in a small room. I told the reception staff that as a repeat customer I should not be placed in a smaller room, but I was then asked to pay more money for a larger room. Not very happy.

Overall stay is great, but the toiletry is hidden from sight, not easy to notice. Breakfast western pastries need to improve a lot, for example the Danish apple pie is too thick and the crusty feeling is not there.

Grand Mercure went out of their way to make my trip as comfortable as possible. The room was immaculate and their room management would visit my room to leave nice gifts of tea and cake. This was especially welcome as I arrived back to Shanghai very late one night. I will be back very soon!
