We had some issue with the room and night's sleep due to very poor beds that are there. The reception Manager was amazing, investigated the problem and agreed the bed needed addressing ... He resolved this by moving us to a better bed/ bedroom .... Really hope this Manager gets a massive thanks from the Hotels GM... Will be back again.

The room was large but as it was designed for a disable person, the sink was too small and it was blocked. No shelving or table in the bathroom. We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days. We used the pool 3 times but only once there was towel in the changing room. Most tabs were brocken or wobbly! Nothing look like a 4 stars hotel. Food was extremely expensive with low quality. Nothing look like a hotel dinning. More of an american burger shop. One burger with 2 slice of tomatoes and small chips for £13. We decided not to eat in the hotel anymore and use local restaurant for much less prices and better quality. On Sunday morning 29th december, there was no eggs, no bread, no plates, no cheese for breakfast. It took staffs 35 minutes to restock tables. How on earth the hotel didnt know how many people are coming for breakfast? We were all pre booked! Although i am not an english person but most of staffs couldn't speak english specially in the bar and restaurant. I was in Novotel which is within the same group and it was very good. I do not think that I will use Mercure hotel again. It really needs a proper inspection. I can explain my experience to anyone within the group so they can take action. Some of my concerns are already highlighted by other people in the hotel review. I thought maybe they were a little bit critical but from my own experience, i wish i had taken those reviews seriously.

« Booked this hotel for the pool. Pool was disappointing, food was average. »

Pool was dirty, light fittings in pool loose. phone didn’t work in the room, no maintenance staff to fix. Tried to order room service, wrong menus in the room. Disappointing stay.

Keeping this brief. The following things happened during my stay: - Toilet kept leaking, meaning that I was constantly walking on toilet water. This was addressed and fixed but it happened again and again. - Pool was shut down for my whole stay. I appreciate that this is something that sometimes can't be controlled but it was one of the main reasons that I had booked this one. - Christmas Party above me and Christmas Party below me made it near impossible to sleep. On the last night the noise was ridiculous. I was dosing off at around 11pm but was awoken by a band belting out 'All I want for Christmas'. Stayed awake and was hopeful that I would fall asleep when the party ended around 1am but the clear up by the staff was stupidly loud and the dragging of chairs/tables kept me up past 4am. I appreciate that these things are sometimes out of your control but there was no notice from the staff at reception when I checked in that this may be a thing and also no e-mails regarding it. A bit of notice would have been good. Going into work with important meetings and a training course on 3hours sleep wasn't less than helpful. Overall not great. Probably won't be staying again and will not be recommending to anyone else in my business to stay in.

Enjoyed our stay in Bristol. I don't think that you should have to pay for hotel parking. Air conditioning in the room was hard to figure out and I would prefer it if there were one window that would open (even if you could only open it slightly).

« Excellent, right from when we walked into the reception »

Our trip to Bristol started with us arriving at the wrong hotel, The Mercure Grand where we meet a rude unhelpful receptionist. We left feeling very pleased we were not staying there. We then found our way to the Bristol Holland House where we were greeted by excellent staff. We were given a choice of floors with available rooms and were informed about the hotel facilities. The buffet breakfast was very good. The bar needs to improve; there were no brandy glasses and there was a very unpleasant smell I noticed while I was standing at the bar. I left without a drink.

Lovely was room, bed was super comfortable and the interior was gorgeous. However, your other guests spoiled our night away. Was awakened by guests playing some kind of game in the corridor and then proceeded to scream and shout till gone 3:30AM outside every time they had a cigarette ( was directly above reception). Possibly worse night in a hotel by far. Lovely guy on reception couldn’t apologise enough when I complained.

Second time staying here, Definitely not disappointed but there are some points that I think could be taken into consideration. Unfortunately we did keep getting disturbed by the people next door to us trying to open the adjoining door in the room (Of course they couldn’t get in but it was incredibly disturbing noise wise). The walls are also very thin so you can hear conversation from either side of your room. The toilet didn’t flush first time you had to hold it down for a while, maybe this was just our room and could be an easy fix. Our main room door didn’t shut easily so you had to really use some force in trying to shut it and it was really really loud when it did close. Friends of our also stayed and their phone in their room rang all throughout the night at random times and early hours, Every time they answered there was no talking but could hear someone there. Not sure why that kept happening. The car park is incredibly small and also a bit steep at £15. We ended up having to park on a single yellow outside one of the houses behind the hotel. Other than that, I would definitely recommend staying here. Like I said it’s the second time I’ve been here and the few bad points mentioned definitely do not out weigh the good points of the hotel.

« A shoddy hotel not worth the money »

The breakfast was overpriced and not very good. It was outrageous having to pay £16 for a couple of bowls of Coco Pops for a two year old. The bathroom grout and tiles were stained black. The whole place felt so old and tired, and therefore not clean. Surface clean yes, but you wouldn't want to sit on the carpet. The taps didn't work properly. The kettle didn't switch off during boiling and boiled itself dry. We were given bath mats to use as towels at the pool. The parking was extortionate and the car park was too full to park even though we'd paid. The dirty cups weren't cleaned from the room.
