« OK stay but question the benefit of privilege rooms »

The privilege rooms are sold as an upgrade but mine was on the ground floor at the front of the hotel so affected by all the passing traffic. The upgraded coffee machine was good but a very limited range of pods. Although it didn't affect me there was no mention of the newspaper to be provided as part of the fee. All in all while my stay was comfortable I struggle to see the benefit of the additional cost of the privilege room. Oh, and the access card for the gym didn't work so I had to be let in by people already in there.

« Very hot rooms! »

As usual my stay was generally good. The only downside was the lack of air conditioning at the hotel in the rooms. Reception area and dining room are lovely and cool in warm weather but the rooms on 11/12th June 2018 were almost unbearable. The 'air-con' is really just a big fan that blows warm air around. When I asked how to make the room cooler I was told after 30-40 minutes the air-con would kick in but this did not happen. I managed to get a fan from reception that I could place next to the bed but I don't understand why the temperature in the rooms cannot be controlled like downstairs.

I was upgraded for free to quiet area with river view. Staff very friendly. Booked a getaway 2 night break with evening meal on first night. The food was superb.

We stayed as an package with the spa, our evening meal we had that was perfect nice choice of food and the deal was really good!! They only thing that let it down for us was the swimming pool!

This isn't the first time we've stayed & we have yet to be disappointed. The only down of our most recent stay was several fire alarms on the first night that scared my children. Obviously this couldn't be helped!

The first room I went to, I could not bear the heat, even with the air conditioning on full. To be fair to them, when I rang down to reception and asked if there was anything I could do about it, they moved me to another room, which was still very warm, but nothing like the first one (and I am somebody who usually feels the cold !!!)

« Slow and frustrating »

Service was slow and appeared un-interested. Tuesday just before 19:00. Wait to check in took over 15 mins. One person on reception a joke. Room allocated was noisy and smelled of smoke directly on leaving. I was told it's because its close to staff smoking or the doors and it 'drifts', but no-one smokes in the room.

Staff were excellent Facilities very good in the hotel but the air conditioner did not work and the room was far too hot and unable to open the windows. Returned too late at night to do anything about it.

the rooms was not bad, but the cleaning was poor. we staid in the hotel 5 nights without properly working air-condition. it was so hot that even with a fan on we couldn't sleep properly. joke about the air-condition!!!!!

Great day/night in Bristol. Rooms were well sized and fully equipped. On the night we stayed the fire alarm was activated and the hotel evacuated, even this was done efficiently and quickly with minimum disruption. Overall great stay and would definitely recommend.

« Room stiflingly hot »

Arrived at 1 o'clock (before normal check-in time) in order to get a parking space. Went in to Reception to pay for parking, and got checked in; very pleased. However on getting to the room we found it stiflingly hot, with no opening windows. Tthe snowflake icon and turned aircon to coldest setting and went out (leaving card in "power slot" to keep aircon operating). Bottom line is room never cooled down one jot. Sleep was all but impossible because of heat. Spoilt the experience.

We stayed for a wedding on a hot weekend. Whilst the overall facilities were good, the air con in the rooms was not! Temperature in the main hotel was kept at a good temperature however so the aircon was working.

« Great hotel in a great city. »

Our stay in Bristol was over 2 nights and we had a ball! My husband and I love the city for its food, music and rich history and culture. We visit a few times a year, as it is only a short trip for us via car. We have stayed in various hotels in the city and have frequented Holland House many times. It is situated in the perfect place for us as it is a short walk into town but quite enough at night to have some peace from the usual city noises. My only whinge is the bed and pillows. These were very hard and we both struggled to get comfortable for our 2 night stay. We both walked around Bristol like a couple of Max Wall impersonators. But there are plenty of great walks so...can't complain. Good eeeeveninggg!
