« Ok but lacking with the service »

Clean hotel, food ok but I found the Service not so good, As an example from my room in the evening I phoned down for some green tea bags and only got them after about 40 minutes and that was after chasing for them, in addition I requested a newspaper in the morning - No newspaper was delivered. It was a part business and part family trip so in the morning my daughter asked for a game of pool - After putting our money in and trying to set the balls found the black missing, when I spoke to the reception I was told it ad been taken some time ago - Why has this not been replaced!

« I didn’t stay »

Terrible Unfortunately I had paid an advanced rate for a stay before a hospital appointment for my daughter. I was told by the hotel there was no way of changing this at all when the hospital rearranged the appointment even paying a premium. I said they should read everyone the room as it would be wasted and they said they wouldn’t do that either

« Unable to cancel booking or get a refund »

Conference I was due to attend at your hotel was cancelled but I was not allowed to cancel my reservation. It was impossible to speak to anyone who could help. Your centralised customer care is useless. I hope I never have to use one of your hotels again

« As usual we were satisfied with our stay. »

Fine with the exception that we could not park in the car park, even though I had asked for this in advance.

« Completely satisfied with hotel but parking expensive. »

Room clean and comfortable, gym & pool well maintained. Location convenient. Parking expensive.

« It's a nice hotel in a great location, but not perfect »

I stay in either the Novotel or the Holland House most weeks and generally both are very good. The bedrooms are warm/cool comfortable and quiet enough to sleep. They have all the 'bits' necessary for a comfortable stay. At least twice I've found the rooms at Holland House to have an odd smell about them, whether this is something that has been spilt in the room, a previous smoker or a dry drain in the shower. Generally this is a minor complaint, but in all fairness, it doesn't happen at the Novotel. Another minor annoyance with both Accor hotels is the inability to email copies of the receipts so that one can reconcile expenses. Yes, it is trivial, but it's annoyance that no business customer needs. Another annoyance is that neither the service directory or the menu in the room makes any comment about the cost of room service. It's a not unreasonable £5, but nowhere is it published or made clear to the customer. Mostly I get a room upgrade (I'm a silver card holder), but sometimes I don't. Novotel get it right every time, Novotel edges it on breakfasts (tea and coffee to your table) but on-the-whole the restaurant meals edge it at Holland House (both are very good). I can fit my Land Rover in the car park of the Holland House, it won't fit at the Novotel. Parking is very limited at both.

« Worst Accor hotel in Bristol »

Big queue at reception, slow staff, no recognition of Accor status, no upgrade, average room.

« Very enjoyable break, providing excellent value for money »

Staff very helpful. Bar set up well to enable all of us that wished to watch the Rugby World Cup Final to do so. Ideal central venue for us to enjoy what we wished to do. Will book again.

« Comfortable and clean but pool needs work »

It was a good experience, except the showers weren’t working in the hotel on the evening and we had just been swimming at the pool so we had to go to bed without a shower not great! But the staff were apologetic and I realise these things happen. Maybe a complimentary drink would have been a nice apology

Walking along corridor c4pm many glasses still o/s rooms glasses First sight on arriving at room was a tray from presumably the previous occupant with piazza remains Seating in the en-suite was poor - very designer but not comfortable or easy to descend into or get up Insufficient towels left in room - we were 2 not 1 Only 2 tea bags and only 1 mug On day 2 one mug was not cleaned Duvet which was taken off and replaced with blanket was left in the corner where we put it Lighting in general was very poor - try working at desk end! Needed a torch to find clothes in case Only 4 coat hangers

« Nowhere near as good as expected »

Lack of car parking space a huge turn-off. Expecting guests to find a space elsewhere on a rainy night and drag a case through the streets is not the best way to welcome them. Check-in took a long time. Had asked for a walk-in shower cubicle if possible but NOT a wet-room. The room was spacious - but HAD a wet-room. Lighting in the room extremely dim. Beds comfortable. Breakfasts poor. Compared very badly with a recent Travelodge experience. Lunchtime pizza was badly burnt on the bottom. No time to wait for a second to be cooked and the price was taken off the bill - but, again, not a good experience. Gourmet burger was good. We did park in the hotel carpark on the 2nd day - but then found ourselves blocked in when we needed to leave by cars parking on the pavements, in restricted spaces etc. For the price paid for overnight parking it was, once again, a miserable experience. We won't be back.

« Good rooms, pleasant on reception but cooked breakfast was cold »

Stayed for one night room was clean and bed comfy I was looking forward to breakfast as I have stayed before with work and had great food but this time the cooked breakfast was cold, there were not hot plates and food was only lukewarm under the heat lamps, also the hot water for tea formed a scum on he surface.

« Trip to Bristol »

The Mercure hotel was really comfortable and clean. The staff at breakfast were very welcoming, efficient and polite and there was a lot of variety at breakfast, with as much as you could eat. The hotel is really quite central, by the water with a range of really good restaurants and the Hole in the Wall pub nearby.
