Noise room ... night 1 wedding. Night 3 constant buzzing noise Room 31. Cancelled two planned nights. Team are great /facilities good. Just need a good night sleep.

Efficiently checked in. Good room, plenty of space. Old hotel with lovely grounds. Plenty of parking. Use of Nuffield Leisure facilities. Great breakfast with excellent service. Had the best yoghurt ever from Millow Hill Farm.

« Tired old building that needs a big lick of paint »

The reception staff didn't crack a smile when checking in, looked as miserable as sin. The building is extremely old but that should not mask the fact that a bit of decorating is in order. The bedroom fittings and furniture must be twenty years old and the air conditioning units are pathetic.

IT was great to be back at the Hotel. Fantastic staff and a lovely meal The lonely issue was that the air con was not working in our room. The staff provided a fan but that didn't really help. The room was really hot and with the noise of the fan neither of us slept very well.

My husband & I had a night away from kids during school hols. Enjoyed our meal in bar, staff very attentive. Found check-in staff a bit glum & not very informative - didn’t mention check-out time, how to use gym, if a Sunday newspaper on offer etc - all standard stuff. There was an army ball on in function room - when we got back to our room at 11pm they were all outside being noisy & then again really noisy in corridor once finished - the door must be paper thin - no noise proofing at all.

As usual a warm welcome from the staff whom we now know well. Dining was good with my wife enjoying her Vegan Pie and myself having Salmon followed by traditional pudding and custard. Staff very polite and helpful. Very comfortable bed. The only down side was with our Tv which did not work and we did not Get a replacement .

« Noisy room next to kitchen even though when booking asked not to be put rhere »

Room was noisy, smells of kitchen cooking and air conditioning did not work. TV remote also did not work and batteries held in with sellotape. Food was very nice. Check out was chaos with one person serving many people at busy time of the morning

Here is a list of the problems I incurred No AC Broken bed No place to hang towel in loo Loo roll holder broken No soap or shampoo rack in shower Lift broken 2 1/2 hour dinner on Friday night, slow kitchen service, not servers fault. One vanity mirror light not working Broken tile in loo Shower glass support broken Paint peeling around shower head Caulk separating where wall meets ceiling in 3 places Scuff marks on the entryway walls Very uncomfortable sofa bed, placed an extra blanket on it. Bottle of empty Vodka under the bed upon our arrival.

The hotel and surroundings were super. The breakfast staff were very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. The blind in my room had fallen off before I arrived, but not attended to.

I have never in all my 30 years of working for Altro Ltd or privately experienced anything like this before. A hotel that says it is 4* in reception having a room with NO curtain or blind on the bedroom window. It is room 86 and have reported this to reception, hopefully it has now been fixed, after my stay?

Enjoyed the stay, very nice location, good food, and pleasant room with excellent F&B and Front Office staff but room for improvement in the Housekeeping section. Room was not fully made up on arrival and on two of our four days stay the daily cleaning and make-up of the room was poorly done.

Uncomfortable and unpleasant! No air con in rooms, no phone service, broken lift for our whole stay, initially allocated completely inappropriate room for young family - reception could not have cared at all merely stating bookings are not dealt with by them...as the customer, I don’t care who deals with the bookings, I expect you to deal with issues though! We had to swap with a family member as you offered no solution at all. Rooms dirty, lots of things broken. Sofa bed for my 2 children had visible springs, they were so uncomfortable all night, we had to use our duvet for them to sleep on. Windows didn’t close properly - huge concern to us on top floor with 2 young children. Breakfast selection very poor - all tinned fruit no fresh, not at all what you expect from a 4 star hotel! Oh, also phones didn’t work, couldn’t call reception, room service or room to room. Struggling to think of any positive to be honest!

As the new General Manager in the property (since 1st June), I am aware that there are a number of issues within the property from a maintenance perspective to which for example there has been no Maintenance Manager within the building for a couple of months, this has now been rectified with my new Manager starting last week, we are also in the process of detailing a full refurbishment plan within the property for all bedrooms and public areas as we recognise that this is an area of importance and was part of the agreement when I took over the property. « No-one in our party of 8 rooms was very happy »

Frankly, very disappointing. We were part of a small group and everyone had one or more problems. Air conditioning, house phones, WiFi and elevator were broken at various times during the weekend. The children complained that the bed springs were hurting them. The restaurant took a large reservation for 6.00pm then did not open until 6.30pm them another night it took over 50 minutes for the party to be acknowledged even though all the food had been preordered. It seemed like there was no time during the weekend when the children could use the pool inspire of being accompanied by adults. I don’t think anyone had a good experience. Certainly not what you’d expect from a 4 star hotel

Very poor service. Staff unavailable. Or inattentive. Or just slow. Overpriced food of variable quality. (Fish was good, rest not well executed and somewhat 'boring' given the prices.
