Checking in staff were slightly rude. Room was lovely but the bed was very uncomfortable. Dinner was amazing and the staff were so attentive. Would definitely go back for the food.

Dinner on first night was satifactory only.My wife returned her soup(too much pepper in cooking)and our choice of dessert(cheesecake)was unavailable after ordering.Noise from corridor interupted sleep occasionally where revellers were returning to rooms early morning.Breakfast and staff excellent.

The reception is not clearly marked when driving in and confusing. The front desk was appaling. 2 staff on and the lady who was stood there just stared at me with a look I usually see on my teenage nieces face. She then proceeded to go back to what she was doing leaving me standing there shocked!!! There was a young man who was turned away and I was only dealt with when he turned around. He was very pleaseant. The only saving grace was the breakfast and Gym, as the bed had tissues underneath and no remote control anywehere!

On arrival stay were very friendly and helpful. They had even gone out of their way to get us a congratulations card to help us celebrate. The bar staff were warm and friendly, as we're the waiting staff. The good was great too. The hotel was clean and we'll kept, the grounds were lovely to walk around. I stayed here for night as I had a conference the next day at the hotel. I used my electric car as they have chargers at the hotel which worked perfectly. Nice and fast, and they're clearly marked which stops other cars from just using them as parking spaces. I also used the gym whilst I was at the hotel. A well equipped gym with plenty of machines. The room was fine, clean and great for a nights sleep. I've stayed here a few times and would definitely stay here again.

Room was large and well presented although we found hairs on the floor. When we went for breakfast on sunday we noticed food on the floor which was still there on mon braekfast.

I've been going to this hotel for the past 50 years. Since Accor/Mercure have taken it over, it is classified as "4 stars". A few small points that need to be taken into consideration to merit these stars : it is a charming olde worlde hotel with beautiful grounds. However it might be a good idea to hire more staff at reception, including a porter and to review certain services.Sunday morning, only one young woman was present at the desk when I was checking out. She was unable to reconfirm my flighf for me as no computer access at Reception (which incurred a $55 extra charge at the airport), and she was unable to give me details of a £20 supplement on my bill. She was most willing to help me carry a very heavy case down 2 flights of narrow stairs - happily a male guest took on the task. My key card failed to work on 3 occasions, which meant I had to return to Reception to get it re-validated. I also tried to contact the hotel by phone from outside and was unable to speak to anyone or leave a message. The automatic wake up call system did not work. The windows in my room and bathroom were completely covered with ivy on the exterior - no-one had thought to remove this so that the windows could be opened.

Although staff were very helpful and the wedding reception I was a guest at went well, I was disappointed with my room. It was very small and too warm, the pillows were hard and the shower head was too big for the shower cubicle. It was difficult to control temperature of the shower and I couldn’t avoid being shocked by a blast of very cold water. As it was I could only adjust it to lukewarm.

Overall it was pleasant. Our bathroom door handle was broken so you couldn't shut the door as you would be locked in (room 88). Breakfast was also a bit chaotic and we had to find somebody to ask to bring over tea and coffee. Also had run out of a lot of things at breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean. I would stay again.

Very dedicated, professional staff. Jade, James and Holly outstanding at front desk. Moving luggage to the rooms is very difficult. Breakfast food and staff were of a high standard. Lack of plugs in the rooms, meant extension cables to trip over.

We were running late due to traffic and rang the hotel to rearrange our dinner reservation. They managed to adjust to a later time which worked perfectly. On check in our room key was having issues so the receptionist escorted us to our room to confirm and handed us a working key. Service at the restaurant and bar was great and breakfast was good
