Booked last minute, the air conditioning advertise swung my decision to book. Check in was swift and given room number. Lift to The floor but also two flights of stairs to get to the food, not good when you are struggling with a bad back, wasn’t told of this at check in. Got to to the room and was disappointed. The room on first impression was very dated and looked like a 1960 motel. The. He bombshell there was no air conditioning as I was led to believe when booking. However when calling The reception I was upgraded to a privelidge room Foc. so trigger down the two flights of stairs back to reception and headed to the new room complete with another flight of stairs. Whilst to superior room was good , the rest of the experience left a lot to be desired . A simple request - made at least 3 times - for a tea bag and mike replacement never happened -small issue perhaps but very annoying in context . Also poor service from the front desk , checking in and also asking for simple explanations on checking out .

« A very enjoyable stay...... »

We booked two rooms for seven nights which were next to each other as requested. From the moment we checked in, everyone was very friendly and helpful. Our request on our booking form was addressed and another request when we checked in was sorted straight away. Breakfast was fresh and a good selection of quality products each morning. There were a couple of weddings on, but you wouldn't really know that. We ate once in the restaurant and no complaints about that. Our rooms were always lovely and clean as was the whole hotel. Would have been nice to have a lounge area with a bar as the only bar was in the restaurant.

« Nice hotel but let down by very hot and stuffy room. »

I stayed at the hotel on a weekend as part of a golf trip. Generally, the hotel was nice, with good pool/fitness facilities and a pleasant restaurant. However, a major downside was the lack of ventilation in the room. I have stayed at the hotel before a few years ago, at the same time of year and stayed in the same block without any issues. There was no air conditioning, but this was the same as last time, and hadn't previously been an issue. However, the rooms had since been redecorated and the window only opened about an inch which, which with the sill and the window frame around it, meant almost no air could enter. I stay in hotels all over the UK on a very regular basis, so I am totally familiar with windows not being able to open very far for safety reasons, but this was very much less than normal for a hotel room window. Just to be clear although we have recently had a heatwave, this was not a hot or muggy day. I played golf outside and it was raining most of the day and relatively cool. It was the same on the day of my departure. I even went out to the corridor several times to check and it was much cooler there than in my room. I did complain to the desk and they said they would inform maintenance. One other point. At the breakfast there was only one tea/coffee machine to serve the entire restaurant of around 30 people (and I wasn't even at peak time). This meant a long queue to get a small cup of hot drink and when it was your turn the screen was not very helpful and a lot of people had to ask for help. In addition, it was very spitty and messy pouring the drink, which meant all in all it was not very appetising.

Very nice, just wasn't overly keen the fact that we were above a wedding party that we were not told about and that the music went on till about 1 in the morning, it was hot!! we couldn't open the window as the music was so loud, we went there for a quiet night to get away from the disruption in the house, so wasn't impressed with that, how ever the food was lovely the staff was lovely and the facilities were great, loved the jacuzzi, overall ok could have been better.

Having had an indifferent experience in the hotel in February I received an invitation to return and see the improvements. Credit where credit is due. The tired and dated has been replaced with great new modern fixtures and fittings. The room upgrade was a total transformation and one that will now have me coming back.

Staff all very friendly. room was well away from noise. But was smelled quite musty/damp. Leaving the window open did not help. Room was very warm, so could have done with a fan. Breakfast was lovely as were the staff. We ate one night at Carter and Fitch was a bit shambolic. Left hand didn't seem to know what the right was doing. Food was ok but not good enough to rush back. Had to send onion rings back as they were too salty. Seemed to cause a big problem. I use a lot of salt, so if they were too salty something was wrong. Got some new ones and they were fine. New pool area is lovely. An outside area would have been nice too. Massage was good but felt she was a bit distracted.

I had high hopes for the hotel, but there were a few let downs. I had requested a little "happy birthday" note for my partner which was confirmed by the person on the phone and then not done, we got to the room and found hairs on the bed, and realised our room did not have a jacuzzi bath like the one we booked online. Called up the receptionist to find out that the room on the website doesn't actually exist and when I asked about the bath, we were transferred. The second room had a bath but it wasn't a jacuzzi bath, we didn't want to make too much of a fuss. The facilities seemed nice, dinner was nice too, although they didn't seem to have an allergen list for the desserts (which i thought was a legal requirement). We ordered room service and got the wrong order, then mischarged. The next morning we went for breakfast. and asked about the vegan sausages, but the chef seemed very reluctant to make them for us saying things like "i can make them for you if you want... but it'll take at least 10..15..20 minutes", so we just left it. I felt quite let down by the quality of the hotel if I'm honest. It seemed like mistake after mistake we had just lowered our expectations completely.
