« Fine overall, but no air con meant it was pretty warm »

The stay was nice - got upgraded to a suite which was an unexpected and pleasant surprise. The hotel and services are all very good, particularly the breakfast. Unfortunately the air-con wasn't working during my stay, which meant my room was uncomfortably warm so I didn't sleep as well as I hoped. The hotel is situated in a busy area, which is not usually a problem, but the windows had to be open which made the noise more apparent. A fan was provided on request, but didn't do a lot to help - obviously this isn't the fault of the hotel, but worth mentioning. Would happily stay again, but would hope that this issue is resolved as that might impact my decision.

A/C was not working on my room (4th floor) only had a small window that could not even open entirely. In face not only the window was small but the entire room and bathroom. The lamp on the desk was not working so hot and dark was not ideal to work on my laptop in the evening.

All items are checked when the room is serviced but I also understand a light bulb can go at any moment. I am unsure whether you contacted reception to advise them of the issue with the lamp. We would have been able to change this over for you had we been made aware. Hotel air-con was out (although apparently working fine in the gym) our room was stifling hot on account of being on the top floor. Concierge solution was to supply small rotary fans to guests which simply moved hot air around the room, even with the windows open the heat radiating from the floors below overwhelmed any effort to vent the room. Fan supplied didn't even have a sufficient power cord to be placed in front of the window. No additional effort was made, no offer of free water bottles or a reduction on the room rate given I was advised of airconditioning being available on the list of hotel facilities. Overall a pretty uncomfortable night and your bar was closed by 11pm, not ideal for sourcing additional water bottles.

The bar does indeed close at 11pm but reception can be contacted 24/7 and would have been delighted to provide additional bottles of water if requested or indeed help in anyway they possibly can. « Lovely hotel but a bit noisy »

The hotel and staff are lovely. My room was really welcoming and luxurious. The only negative was due to it being an older building the kids above me running round for a couple of hours in the evening sounded pretty loud, but when I mentioned it to the hotel reception they had a word and it calmed down. Other than that everything was great.

Having checked in, we were advised that the air conditioning was broken. Being on the 4th floor and facing the Main Street resulted in quite an unpleasant stay. The small desk fan did some work but struggled in the heat. Having the windows open resulted in noise from the main road and strip keeping us awake until around 1am. Having booked the hotel some time ago, I would have liked the option to have moved to another hotel (if possible). With the hotel full for the weekend we couldn't even move to the back of the hotel away from the noise. Staff and breakfast however was great!

I selected the hotel as ot advertised air conditioning. When I arrived I was told it was broken and given a 4th floor room with a fan. As I had to kerp the window open there was noise from the outside. Everytime someone opened or closed a door in the hal, my door rattled. I was not offered any compensation for an almosr sleepless night despite complaining to staff the next morning. No coffee/tea making facilities

« Some snaggs need fixing »

I stay in Nottingham fairly regularly for business so it's worth mentioning some things I believe need attention. I stayed in room 318 30/06/19-2/7/19 Snags Scrape underneath the light switch to the bathroom needs painting, (it's all you look at when in bed) The shower unit has damage looks like water limescale at first but it's just badly scratched and looks tiered The hinges on the door of the shower unit are knackered made closing it very difficult There are 2 bad chips on the mirror in the shower room The metal bar at the front of the shelf in the shower room is broken The tea/coffee sachet holder is mucky The light shade on the left side of the bed is dirty Positives Air con worked (though I heard on checkout another customer had a room where it didn't work) Towels were lovely thick and clean Bed sheets were clean and lovely quality Water was hot and good pressure Room was clean and tidy Staff are very pleasant and helpful As previously mentioned I do stay regularly and will continue to. Lovely building and friendly staff but overall it was one of my worst stays in any Accor hotel. We were told the AC units were out of action but were being fixed and may/may not be usable during our stay and we could have a fan if we wanted. We opted to have a fan as the room was v hot but it made little difference. Having the window open meant we could hear everything in the street below. To cap it all the folks in the next room were late in and we could here whole conversations thru the thin wall even over the noise of the fan. Noise is obviously a problem as earplugs were supplied in the room. So if you want a quiet relaxing cool nights sleep choose a different Accor hotel.

As always, a great hotel. Unfortunately the air conditioning wasn't working in our room. We were provided with a large fan, which did help, but was extremely loud. The hotel staff were great, but paying the amount we did for the room, I would expect that with the air con broken, we could be offered more than a couple of free drinks (which were extremely well appreciated still).

Nice room, facilities & breakfast, but room I was in (304 ?) had a loud fan or something giving a continuous sound on the entrance side & this led to a rather disturbed nights sleep (ear plugs were provided but I found these regularly fell out whilst I was asleep - so not very useful !).

I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. We are working on improving our AC and having a brand new system installed at the time of me writing this reply. I am extremely sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment caused to you during your stay due to the AC not working. As a city centre hotel located not just within the city centre but within the busiest and most popular area for nightlife I am afraid some noise is to be expected. Should our location have come as an unwelcome surprise to you I do apologize. We are always happy to look at alternative locations within the hotel which may experience less noise should a guest contact us in advance and request this. This is of course subject to availability. I thank you for bringing to my attention the issue you experienced with the floorboards. As a hotel built in 1822 the hotel is prone to squeaky floorboards but they should not be to the extent that impacts negatively upon a guest stay. I will personally inspect the floorboards around and above the room allocated to you with my maintenance team to see whether there is an issue which needs to be rectified with them. I am delighted to read your comments about breakfast and will ensure this is shared with our chef and breakfast team. staff were good - but it felt like a box room. The room was the same length as a double bed, so it was pushed into a corner. So walls on three sides. cleanliness was ok. but for the money - it was acceptable.

These are small and advertised as such with room dimensions to allow the booker to make an informed decision as to whether the room will be suitable to them or not. We have a range of room grades at Mercure Nottingham. You may prefer next time to have a Standard King ( still one of our smaller room grades but larger than a City Pad ) booked for you or maybe one of our Privilege rooms or Suites. These two room grades are our larger room grades and would certainly provide the additional space you both require or desire.
