There is the worst run Accor I have stayed at. This is in addition to the significant noise pollution from surrounding building works a lack of service culture. Granted the position is fantastic it this doesn’t compensate for the noise which should have been disclosed. Laundry took 48 hours not 24 because they failed to mentioned no Sunday pick up so had to do emergency dash to buy business shirts. You can feel the mismanagement in every quarter. They did allow me to leave a bag. They should disclose the noise issue. I witnessed countless patrons complaining at reception. I like Accor hotels because they are consistent. This was bottom of the barrel.

« Excellent Position »

Metres from the Paddington Railway and Underground Stations you can't get a better position than the Mercure Paddington. Small foyer with friendly staff and,as is the way in London, small rooms but everything you need. Clean and comfortable. No iron in the room but otherwise reasonably appointed. Nepresso machine a nice touch. Second time I've stayed there. So convenient to heading to Heathrow or anywhere via train/underground.

For the cost of the room, it was tiny. For anyone who responds - yes you advertise that you have small rooms but maybe advertise better. My double bed shoe box had aircon that rattled and appeared to drip water on the carpet. Breakfast at Garfunkels was poor, waiting ages for some mediocre food. The evening meal quality is better.

It was very dissapointing to say the least the room was like staying in a shoe box no room to put your cases on the stand bathroom was the same very tiny . Also all the roadworks were very noisy and Garfunkels restaurant if you call it that was only a cafe very dissapointing.

« Most expensive small room in which I have ever stayed »

I was expecting more from a Mercure - my usual choice is an Ibis, but convenient rooms within my budget were not available. Check in seemed to take a very long time especially checking that I had prepaid and the bar was a very dismal area in which to enjoy a welcome drink. Fortunately I did not have to spend much time in my room. The shower was good!

« Some staff was really nice while some didn't complete their job properly »

First issue - The bedding was not changed/ cleaned properly everyday thus leading to a bed that looked clean but actually wasn't from inside. I had to call up a friend and stay at her place for a night due to the bad bedding. I didn't want to go in the lobby due to the presence of the night butler/ watchman. Second Issue - The overall experience was fine with little to no problems with the stay. However, the night watchmen in the hotel was very rude to me a couple of times. I will think multiple times before i book a hotel here again, because the location is awesome and works for me, i might consider it but i would rather move for the Hilton closeby.

Firstly, I would like to clear that our housekeeping staff don't change the bedding for any of the rooms upto 3 days as per the Accor brand standard we're suppose to change the bed linen after 3 days of the guest check-in to save on the environment. However if due to any reason the bed sheet is very dirty you can request the reception that you wish to change the bed linen and they would request the housekeeping to do so. About the night team member you have mentioned that he was very rude please could you elaborate as what did he tell you in terms of rudeness so we can investigate it further ? We have one night receptionist and a night porter working each night. we don't have a watchmen working in the hotel. Thank you once again for your feedback. We booked a room via the AccorHotels website but when we went to check in, we were told initially that they couldn’t find our booking. Once they found the booking, we were told that the room we booked was going to be too small for us and they were giving us a free upgrade to a larger room in a different hotel about 3minutes walk away. However, when we went into the room we were “upgraded” too, it was way too small and we realised that we had been duped and we were being given something that we were being overcharged for. We complained and asked for our original room back which was significantly larger than the room we were being upgraded. What was the point of giving us false hope of an upgrade and making us walk to another hotel? We would’ve been quite happy with our originally booking instead of wasting our time trying to persuade us with a smaller room. In addition, we paid £10 for a breakfast that wasn’t what we expected at all. I’m so disappointed and will not be using this hotel or chain again.
