Mr H. Thank you for completing the survey that was sent to you following on from your stay. As per my previous email to you. Single rooms were booked for you and this is what was allocated to you at the time of check-in. Although the hotel was fully booked, the team did manage to upgrade you to the small double rooms when they saw that your room was for double occupancy. As you are aware, members upgrades are dependent on availability and we are not always able to accommodate this due to how busy the hotel is. As I was not in the hotel when you sent your request I was unable to respond to you, therefore you have been compensated with £100 worth of points onto your membership. Once again thank you for the review and for the email that you sent last week. Your feedback is appreciated and will help us learn and grow in the service that we provide. « Good but nothing special »

Room was clean and air conditioned, but small. Doors slamming through the night rattled my door, making it a little hard to fall asleep at first. Reception was friendly and stored my luggage for free.

The room was extremely small and poorly designed. The door always jammed shut, had to push it very hard to get in. Overall service in the hotel was average and the young lady working the bar in the evening is not suited to hospitality, never would you get a how was your day from her or a smile.

« Cramped and confusing. »

The room was described as small but I would consider not having space to walk around the end of the bed as somewhat tiny. The room was a little tired and grubby looking too. The breakfast was terrible (swimming in grease, eggs vastly undercooked, very little fruit available and items not topped up, cold drinks lukewarm and very small amount of weak coffee given and no offers of a top up.) Room was noisy (doors slamming all night and early morning,) service a little rude and the check out process very confusing and time consuming- like nothing I've ever experienced before in my years of hotel visits. I had to ask for my credit card receipt. We were given incorrect information about distance to Hyde Park (it is not 10 minutes walk!!) Generally I would say very poor value for money (£218) and would not consider staying again.

Bed sheets dirty it’s at reception two attempts to resolve this issue when I was checking out I was asked if everything was okay I explained about the dirty bedclothing the receptionist said sorry about this these things happen but they shouldn’t happen for a £200 a night room .

We booked a "Privilege Room", requesting a high floor. We were initially given a room on the first floor! After discussions with the management we were offered a room on the second floor - on a 7 floor hotel, not sure how this classifies as a high floor. As a "Privilege Room", it was more a "Standard Room".

« Nice hotel, but member of bar staff needs additional training »

Check in and room were all fine. I have stayed here on many occasions and have always been satisfied. I am a member of the loyalty club and was provided with a welcome drink voucher as usual. I asked at the bar for a glass of red wine and was refused on the grounds that "my manager told me not to serve wine, you cannot have alcohol, only soft drinks". I didn't have my glasses with me so I went to my room to have a look at the voucher, and it was the same as usual, excluding fine wines and champagne so I didn't see any reason for the refusal. I went back down to the bar and a different lady was serving and she started to serve me the wine when the original person came back and quite rudely said I wasn't allowed wine. I referred her to the rules as written on the voucher but she just wouldn't listening and said "I will call the manager about this, she (pointing to the lady serving me) doesn't know, she works on Reception". The reception lady looked a bit embarrassed, but nevertheless served me the wine. Another customer heard the commotion and came to the bar and said he was an Accor member too and he had never been refused wine or beer. This person really does need some customer service training!

The main reason we use this hotel is for its location. Everything was good except the bathroom which wasn’t quite up to standard. The toilet failed to flush properly and had a loose seat, as well as the bathroom door which we were unable to shut. Apart from that, everything was good, as you would expect.

Overall the stay was very good. However, there was a lot of noise from doors slamming closed early in the morning or late night - in particular early in the morning, where doors slamming closed (or the same door?) kept happening over and over again.

Good location & staff were friendly & helpful, but the hotel was substandard and a complete rip off. Accor you should be ashamed of yourselves charging in excess of £330 per night for a basic room !!!

I stay at quite a few Accor hotels - Mercure is around the middle of the range for quality. Good location, reasonable value for London and it is certainly worth the extra instead of the nearby Ibis Styles.

Enjoyed our three night stop at the Kensington, Mercure. Rooms very clean and bathroom kept well stocked with fresh towels daily. Free water and soda drinks. Breakfast covered a wide variety of tastes.

The hotel was at a great location, receptionist Jawad was a bit unpleasant though. Not very professional. The rest of the staff was great. Rooms are small and a bit worn out. However, very close to the city and excellent access to tube.

« Nice staff, ok breakfast, very pricy for what you get though. »

The staff was great and helpful but the room wasn't the best, a bit small (especially for the price, probably due to a busy season), the fridge didn't work, the doors on the wardrobe was hard to open and close (also because of the fridge placement), the room felt somewhat dirty (stain on the carpet), flushing the toilet didn't work that well and the bathroom zink was glogged. And at some point the room started to smell like fart (probably from the sewers). However the fixed the zink quickly. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was good compared to breakfasts at other hotels in London. The staff was always nice. Location was great! And I would recommend it for couples or solo travelers that don't intend to be staying in.
