« Nice hotel in a great location »

I've stayed already twice in this hotel and have had a good experience. The location is excellent, two blocks away from the British Museum, easily accessible on foot from St Pancras Station and not far from many theatres.

The Mercure London Bloomsbury is a nice little hotel which seems to be mainly booked by leisure people. The bath was renovated, the furnitures were old but overall impression of the room was clean.

I booked a superior double room, when I checked in and went to my room I found very small with 2 single bed pushed together but not made up as a double When I questioned this the girl at he desk told me this was what a superior was ,,,, now having stayed many times over the last 5 years or so I knew this to be false, when I spoke to the manger he said this was correct, after much discussion I was shown to a superior room To this end if I can help it in future I will not be using your hotel

« A superior room but not a superior experience »

I have stayed at the Bloomsbury Mercure a couple of times this year and enjoyed the stay immensely. However this stay was spoilt by the poor quality of the room. When spending over £600 for a superior room I expect superior fittings. The air con unit had bits hanging off it and it broke on the 2nd night leaving us with a hot and uncomfortable night. On the plus side this was fixed the following day. To cool the room down we opened the windows and the following day we where unable to shut one of them. Dis-spite reporting this to reception twice the problem was not resolved. With a room overlooking Southampton Row this meant a rather noisy room. At least we had the ear plugs!. There were also a few minor points indicating the room is due for a refit. The TV bracket couldn't be adjusted to suit; the coffee machine was missing a cup shelf. Used it once but as the capsule wasn't replaced had to resort to Nescafe.

Great location to have easy access to tube and bus stations. Very friendly staff and excellent service provided. Feel privilege to be a Silver Accor member as complimentary wines are given! No doubt will stay again.

Hotel was OK - Platinum Member and asked for quiet room away from road noise and lifts. All rooms booked and no upgrade available (disappointing as normally get a free upgrade) No room available for check in at 11.30am so left bags and went out. When returned late in evening found we were allocated room 206 which although it was a "nice" room was at front of building and facing Southampton Row = busy road!!

We paid extra for a superior room in 2017 we paid for a double room and had an amazing room on the 7th floor. When we arrived the room we were given was tiny, we asked to be moved and was - to a room that was smaller! It was actually a room we had stayed in before when we had paid for a double! We are regular customers and feel cheated.

Check in was good and smooth, the room was incredibly small and the bed was even smaller for a double. The shower drain ran slow and so you ended up showering in a foot of rising water. We called for an ironing board that never came and the iron was broken. Location is good, staff were friendly enough.

Booked a twin room verified at check in. Got to the room and the 2 beds were made up as one king bed. It was fixed but reluctantly. On check out was originally charged GBP25.90 for breakfast we didn't have and it was explained this was a pre-authorisation, which it wasn't. Room was ok but air con didn't cool the room down despite being on continually. Great location.

Very friendly reception staff and hall porter. Room clean and comfortable. Breakfast selection and service excellent. Restaurant menu varied and good value. Only minor problem was, having booked a twin room the twin room we were allocated was the room configured for a person with disabilities; and the wash hand basin in the bathroom was too low for an able bodied person and the tap had no flow control. A minor point maybe but annoying nevertheless. Having unpacked and settled in we were not going to bother requesting a room change.
