Great property; beach, pool and spa are fantastic. Food is average to good. Location is awesome to explore towns in the vicinity, but do your homework before hand since the advertised concierge support doesn’t exist.

The change of management from Cinzia Montelli to Antonio Barbieri is not good for the Capo Vaticano Resort. The General Manager is never present at the hotel (Villa Paola?) And nowhere else than planning corporate events. Only his assistant Fredericca Di Bella was there! Bad service in the restaurant and poor quality of the food. The food has deteriorated in quality over the last year. During our stay every weekend company events were carried out with loud disco music until late at night. Sleeping was impossible! The drink prices at the Stromboli bar are too high. Beer 0.5 liter 11, - Euro, cappuccino 7, - Euro, Pizza Margaritha of poor quality 16, - Euro! The manager manages to downgrade the hotel through mismanagement! This was our fourth stay at the Capo Vaticano Resort and with the worst off! The management is also advice-resistant! The answers of the reviews are answered with bad translation programs. The hotel could be the best hotel in Calabria in this very nice location with a different management!

Regarding the price of the cappuccino you are right, it's a printing mistake, while for the beer that you highlight it is a local artigian not filtered beer, you could have chosen a national beer like Nastro Azzurro that cost less. The hotel concept, architecture, garden, swimming pool and location are really great. We had an excellent time, enjoyed the quality of the breakfast, the size of the room with sea view. The general atmosphere was also nice, mainly due to the staff being always very attentive.

Loved the facilities but the sit down dinner experience was frustrating. The food was great, but the service was disorderly, delayed, and without any apologies. The location, the view, the spa facilities were all great.

Hotel's focused on adults which is a great plus when you want to relax. The food (breakfast and dinners) is OK but it could be more local dishes, fruits and veggies. The beach is cleaned and maintenanced well.

« The Spa and Resort is a very fine experience »

The Stromboli by night was a trip that was introduced to us by the hotel . The experience of this was a very bad one . The trip was raining so we didn't experience anything but a low grade plate of pasta and no Valcano viewing . We were upset that the trip wasn't cancelled and money refunded .

« Probably best place to stay in Calabria, with one downside »

We spend family week-long holidays at Capovaticano Resort Thalasso & Spa. We enjoyed the beach and the sea - with sunbeds available at anytime, with great views and in general comfort of the hotel and its amenities. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Meals were good enough to satisfy different tastes of whole family. This could have been our best summer holiday experience if not one thing... Air conditioning at the hotel did not work properly - during daytime heat it provides proper cooling (unless you need to get really cold), but during night we could not get room temperature below 23-24 Celsius. My older son and wife slept quite well, but myself and 8-year old son had some trouble sleeping. Air conditioning, producing barely a light breeze had to work through whole day with windshields closed to get to the 23-24C in the evening, which is above usual sleep comfort zone of 18-20C. Definitely something to improve, especially that staff informed me this was just our room issue, but hotel-wise.

Our initial experience as we checked in was rather disappointing because of a number of misunderstandings during the reservation. The reception staff were polite but overall appeared inexperience and not very helpful. The breakfasts always had a surprise element and were pretty inconsistent; we were never sure whether we would be attended to or given the right drink. Our experience was enhanced by two people: 1- one of the assistants, Denis (who was undertaking various duties at the hotel including working as a porter). He was personable and had a very positive and helpful attitude. He is asset to the hotel and deserves recognition. 2- As we understood a new addition to the team, a personal trainer, Lorenzo. He knew his subject, was very good with people and was able to draw a crowd with different abilities and encourage them to exercise while enjoying the environment. He was polite and professional and we enjoyed his classes and our interactions with him. He makes a valuable contribution and brings something special to there hotel. He was one of the few staff at he hotel who could converse well in English.

Had a pleasant stay in Capovaticano Resort Thalasso & Spa - MGallery by Sofitel. I stayed 8 nights at this hotel during a business trip and hotel facilities was in general very good, nice pool area and direct access to the beach. All outside areas are in immaculate condition and well looked after. Nice standard room with comfortable bed and nice bathroom. TV channels OK but very limited with English speaking channels and no movies etc. WiFi speed is also not very good and especially thinking of the room rates this should be at a high level. I had breakfast and dinner included and in general food was OK, very repetitive and limited options especially for breakfast, there should have been options for omelets, fried eggs, soft boiled eggs, bacon that was actually fried/grilled, etc. Sometimes at dinner time it was long delays before empty dinner items was replenished as this is a buffet style dinner. Lobby bar was only open once during my stay which was a shame. This is an upmarket hotel in this area but is let down with access from any main road, signage to hotel is very poor and infrastructure in way of roads are terrible.

« Beautiful resort! »

The resort is absolutely stunning. From arrival to departure you’ll feel like you’re in paradise. The rooms (we’ve got an upgrade to a sea view room) are spacious, clean and nicely decorate. The spa, pool and beach are gems. The only downside is that one is obliged to go half board, meaning one has to dine at the buffet. The buffet is ok, but I personally prefer an a la cart option as well and go with bed and breakfast instead. Nonetheless: very recommendable!!

I thought I was in Hawaii not italy ...... a wonderful experience , fabulous hotel/ resort .. the room was amazing but there are a few things that need attention . The breakfast is a buffet ... that was very hit and miss , items rarely replaced and it was defiantly ' first come first served ' .The evening meal was not what you would expect from a luxury hotel . The first night of our three night stay was ' fish night ' and that is literally all there was to eat ....... as a lifetime vegetarian and a husband who doesn't eat fish ,so this was indeed very disappointing. The manager realised that it was an error on their part did offer to make us something but it was just easier to go out . The evening food was really not up to scratch and we actually went out every night . Note the spa( which is magnificent) is only open in the afternoon and there is only one running machine in the gym .

Resort and room were great. Your restaurant service was one of the worst. Service was slow and confusing We could not even order lunch from the pool bar during lunch hour ! Ridiculous.
