« Terrible stay in this hotel »

No professionalism of the staff, very aleatory service. The worst hotel in your group, never seen that before. As platinum member, I booek for 3 days during the national holiday. Late arrival but confirmed 3 times with hotel my arrival time, nothing was ready when I arrived at midnight. No upgrade, understood since holiday, but they gave me a room without shower!!!!! The staff didn’t know for breakfast and happy hour how works with platinum member, each time, they should call the manager to verifier. Terrible terrible, worst experience never met before!

« Comfortable product, service needs attention »

The rooms were quite comfortable and well appointed. It could benefit from having a pillow menu available, as the only pillow offered was almost too low for me. The bathrooms are small and the shower is especially small. Hopefully in future renovations the bathrooms can be enlarged. The lake view is stunning, though the windows were quite dirty. The TV is modern and allows easy access to the HDMI and USB ports to plug in your own devices, which is great! The room was quite musty/smelly when we arrived, but this aired out after a few hours. My guess it that the room had not been used for some time before our stay. We did ask the bellboy, who helped us with out luggage, about the smell, and he simply said he did not think it was smelly and opened the window for us. Platinum loyalty recognition was generally good. We were given an upgrade to an executive room, however at no time prior to our arrival or during check in were we told about the state of the executive lounge. It is quite surprising and disappointing that we found out about the executive lounge being closed for renovations because we WENT to the lounge and found a sign saying it was closed, given that executive lounge access is a key feature of Platinum membership or booking an executive room. The happy hour was an interesting affair and the food was generally good, however it was disappointing that only soft drinks were on offer. Every executive lounge happy hour we have been to has included wine, beer and some basic spirits/liqueurs. Drink vouchers were provided at check-in, however it was disappointing that despite the drink voucher stating it could be redeemed for Pullman's special cocktails and wine, among other drinks, we were told we could only receive soft drink, juice and beers. It would have been beneficial to receive a welcome letter at check-in or to have one placed in the room, outlining information such as Platinum and executive room benefits. As a result, we had no idea what Platinum or executive room benefits we were entitled to for our stay. It would also have been nice to know that the executive lounge was closed for renovation and to know where and when the happy hour was held. For a 5 star hotel, we felt that service at breakfast was a bit lacking. After we had our names ticked off the breakfast packages list, we were simply told to go through to the restaurant. We had breakfast three mornings during our stay - not once were we shown to a table by the host, nor were we ever offered tea or coffee. We have stayed at Sofitels, Fairmonts, Pullmans, MGallery and Novotels that have all offered this standard of service, why can't Pullman Xiamen Powerlong offer it? We really enjoyed our a-la-carte dinner in the international restaurant; the lamb cutlets were especially delicious. Given that our meals would take more than 30 minutes to arrive, the restaurant manager very kindly invited us to sample the dessert section on the buffet while we waited. However, the rest of the standard of service lacked. We were initially given some table water, however during the course of our dinner: A) Our waters were never refilled; B) I was never offered a refill of my wine; and C) No one checked on our meals to ensure we were satisfied with them. Furthermore, staff training on Accor Plus dining discounts is required, as when settling our account the staff member told us that the dinner buffet is a 50% discount for two people, but ordering from the menu is only 15%. We had to ask for the restaurant manager to come and get this sorted, which she did very quickly. Thank you to the restaurant manager for her service during our stay. It was great to have a Wi-Fi system with a built in VPN. Speeds were generally very good. Being located next to a lake, there were a few mosquitos both in the room and in the restaurant. I am not really sure how this can be addressed, however. The window in the room definitely could benefit from a mesh screen placed over it, so the window can be opened without mosquitos coming in (perhaps a mesh screen that slides up and down?) A 4pm late checkout was granted and the hotel arranged for my partner and I to check out separately, as our flights were many hours apart. LeClub points and nights were promptly posted within 24 hours - thanks! Overall, we would return to this hotel, as the hard product (room and facilities) and the location is good enough. However, while the service is friendly, the standard of 5-star service requires much more attention to detail and to the guest.

« nice hotel but English is a problem »

Hotel is nice, but..... By checking in i was downgraded being a gold member. After telling it to the manager (the only one speaking English) i was upgraded to the suite. So far so good. But The people at the reception are slow, do not understand English. We asked 2 times if their was a massage service in the hotel. 2 times the answer was no and we were send to a place 10min away from the hotel. On the last day we went to the swimming pool and what did we see? Yes a massage center :) The business lounge was closed (we were not informed upfront) we got our happy hour food and drinks in the big retaurant. Ok but it wasn't so relax as in a lounge.

The service provided by the hotel staff was excellent. They were friendly and helpful. The Chinese restaurant also provided authentic Cantonese cuisine with reasonable price. I definitely will stay at this hotel next time.

« Enjoyed my stay, although experience some minor problem »

I stayed here together with my family and friends. We booked 7 rooms. I sent an email, to reconfirm all of our reservations, and asking any ugrade before my arrival. Received a reply after sending the second email, stated that all of our reservations are confirmed but refused any upgrade for us. Checked in was not smooth, took a long time, despite my email sent before stating informations of each room. I was given executive floor with free breakfast for two. Thank you for that. But my other family member did not get any upgrade, nor free breakfast eventhough using my member when made the bookings. Jason, who was helpful and attentive, helped me during checked out time. I asked him to closed all the bills of 7rooms, even the 2 rooms that would checked out on 10March. I also asked for free breakfast for 4 person, 2 of them were elderly, 87 years old. Jason said it was ok. But my brother's credit card was charged eventhough i already asked to closed the bills, and we didn't know for what expenses. Furthermore, I didn't received any points or status nights for all of my reservation (5 reservation for 3rooms each 4nights). I sent an email to hotel and made a complaint through accor customer service. Received the point already, but my brothers didn't received his points yet. Hotel itself is nice, the view from my room is beautiful. Room is clean and comfy. Breakfast was good. Will stay there again if I come to XiaMen.

« Enjoyed my stay, but missing my accor points and status night »

I stayed on 3-10March 2019, together with my family, we booked 7 rooms, in which, 2 rooms using my Accor Silver Membership. Before our arrival, my sister who is an Accor Gold member, sent an email, to reconfirm all of our reservations, and asking any upgrade. No reply received and a week later, she sent the second email. This time, she got a reply that reconfirmed all of our reservations but refused any upgrade for us. When we checked in, my sister prepared a detailed note, which reservations for each room, because some of them were already charged from our credit cards, but some of them were not paid yet. They asked all the passports and put the guests wrongly. And they even forgot put my name. I was not realized until i did not received any point nor status nights from all 5 reservations (2 rooms each for 6 nights) booked under my name. Furthermore, when my sister checked out on 7March, she settled all the bills of 7 rooms, including my rooms who would check out on 10March. She was helped by Jason, who were helpful and attentive. She make sure that all of the bills were settled, and I did not need to pay any bills when I checked out on 10March. She also requested free breakfast for 4person who stayed until 10March and granted. But, my credit card was charged Cny375, which I didn't know for what expense. Furthermore, I didn't received any points or status nights for all of my reservation (5 reservation for 2rooms each 6nights). I sent an email to hotel and made a complaint through accor customer service, but until today no response was given. Actually I like the hotel. It has a nice surrounding, clean room, and many healthy choices during breakfast. I liked celery juice most. But, missing the points and status nights, was the first experience ever happened during my 8years membership.

Wonderful room. Gym could open earlier and the sauna wasn’t working. Breakfast quality was pretty poor. Great location and wonderful views. Good value for money and I would stay here again but some improvements can be made.

« Very friendly and helpful Staff! »

Room with view over the lake was very nice and clean, also the upgrade. No demages etc. Staff really friendly and helpful. Only the temperature in the Club Lounge was unbearable, to hot, like in a Sauna. After three minutes I head to leave. In total it was a really nice stay and I will recommend.

My wife and I are very pleased with the excellent service provided by your hotel manager Angela, during our 4 nights stay. She attends to details, listens to our needs and goes extra mile to assist us in making sure our traveling is comfortable. She switches room for us, when the first non-smoking room given has strong smoke left by previous guests. When we find the room is too warm for us, she arranges cooler set to be placed in the room, and instruct staff to open the window for cool air during the day. For our local tourist attraction arrangement, she is patient to inform us of China's mobile telephone matters, ticketing and transport details. She is polite and speaks both English well. A great asset to Pullman hotel. We told her for our next visit to Xiamen, we may look for her. A fine lady.

The hotel is an excellent one - very clean, comfortable and well-appointed. Buffet meals had lots of choices. The hotel is near the lake, so very pleasant, but there are no shops etc within walking distance. But for a comfortable, relaxing hotel, I would highly recommend this one.

The executive room is a little bit small, compared to that of other Accor brand hotel I have stayed before, e.g. Pullman hotel in Shanghai, Xinqiao Noftel in Beijing. And the Happy Hour of Executive Lounge only have wine and cookies, we need to order if we need other dessert.

In general, it was good experience living with Pullman Xiamen Powerlong given good location and nice food, however, it took quite long time for check-in and out, I observe that there is space to improve regarding the process, receptionists did not show very proactive attitude while handling check-in and out. moreover, seems Accor+ membership owner does not benefit priority check-in though there is Accor membership counter, it took us almost more than 20 minutes to check-in in the first day.

« Smoking on a non-smoking floor »

Walking out of the elevator onto my non-smoking floor for the first time it was obvious people were smoking. Thankfully my room was OK. I informed the Duty Manager straight away The next morning I exited my room to again the strong cigarette smell. Again I reported to the Duty Manager. It shouldn't be up to guests to monitor the responsiblity of the hotel to ensure there is no smoking on non-smoking floors
