Building appearance poor : window frames rotten laminate doors delaminating etc . Room not 'made up '. Slow service in restaurant ,wine placed on table not poured; no tasting . Sports club : pool water very warm and very heavilly chlorinated sufficient to cause eye irritation . Overall tired and in need of refurbisment . Will put me of booking Acor in the future

The room was at front of hotel. The evening was very hot . The towel heater in the bathroom was on full heat and extremely hot and could not be turned of off so it added to the heat in the room . The window was the old type window sliding up down and had the be held open with a block of wood ( which was left by the window) the window could be a H&S issue if it dropped it needs some strength to hold open

The room was nice and clean , but the hotel was noisy, not helped by the half inch gap between the door and floor that also let all the light in. Even with this bunged with a towel the room was still noisy. Further , whoever decided to scheduled the bin collection for 3am needs to consider that the single most important function of a hotel is a good nights sleep - surely this could be done during the day ? On the plus side food and staff were all very good.

Rooms need updating; creaking floors, boarded up window, poor ventilation, small bathroom, bathroom door scrapes toilet. On a positive; a nice coffee machine and complimentary water and soft drinks - probably because this was a superior room.

I checked in late with Albert on the 22nd June 2019 with my Best Friend after finding baby sitters for our children. We arrived late at the hotel late an couldn't wait to chill out with a glass of wine. When we arrived the room wasn't how it looked on the photos I was disappointed to be fair but it was a bed for the night away from our children and some peace and quiet but it didn't stop there it just got worse. When arriving to the hotel late we were greeted by Albert who was lovely and checked us into our room 121. We was just relaxing after unpacking our stuff and we was getting ready to get into bed. I seen a black hair shown in the image below which is another humans hair and is disgusting but that wasn't to bad until I pulled back the quilt covers to discover the second photo below in which looked like human pubic hairs. We were mortified!! I couldn't believe it. I packed my stuff as this knocked me for sick as I am a very clean person and didn't expect this at all! We went back down to reception with our stuff and explained to Albert the situation and told him we wouldn't be staying and would like to check out. I shown him the photos and he advised me of your name as point of contact regarding my issue. I am absolutely mortified and couldn't believe that this would be something to discover on my stay at the Mercure Hotel. I would be grateful if you could issue me with a full REFUND as I didn't complete my stay and if you could respond to my email ASAP. This hotel isn't local to me and I had to travel from near Manchester City Ground so not only did I go well out of my way it was a wasted trip in which we really looked forward to! Very pleasant. Staff helpful and friendly. It was very useful that reception was open 24hours, as we arrived after 11pm. Spacious dining area. Would have been nice to have an extractor fan in the bathroom, after showering, to extract the moisture in the air.

I didn’t have any experience as due to stupidly booking the wrong night, with a non-refundable booking fee I was unable to arrive at the hotel. If I had stayed I suspect my experience would have been fairly grim as the staff didn’t realise I wasn’t there.

I found the hotel quality a little disappointing though I must stress the staff were lovely. The room only had one hand towel and one bath towel, despite being two guests. This was remedied very quickly when I raised it but an odd thing nonetheless. Staff all lovely but the hotel overall was a bit tired and down at heel generally. The tea and coffee seemed very basic and limited in quantity in the tray in the room. I didn't use the shower as we used the spa facilities (pool) but I was hesitant about trying to get a mixer tap to work. Also the room service literature in the book said that it would be available for some items 24 hours but nothing was available after 9 or 9.30. I didn't particularly want to order food but I did look at the menu just in case and was surprised I would not have been able to, since we arrived after a very long journey at 10. On the plus side, staff were very nice and efficient and the mattresses were supremely comfortable.

There is a lovely young guy on reception who saved the day , he was so very helpful. Generally the staff are friendly and good . He was exceptional. Unfortunately basement rooms are cold and dismal, not comfortable at all.
