The lighting in the room is too dim then I asked for fixing. The response was quick, as the light bulb can't be changed I was offered a room change. The lighting is a bit better but I would prefer daylight in my room.

We enjoyed the location of the hotel giving access to all Manchester. I thought that the rooms were small but were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good and the staff friendly. I really objected to having to pay £3 for each item of luggage I left in reception. This is the only hotel, which has asked me to pay. Mean.

It was ok. Not really worth the money when there are cheaper options. £40 for parking is too much when you’ve already paid so much for the room. Breakfast wasn’t worth £10 each per day, little selection. Plates were still dirty as you can tell they had just come out the dishwasher. Felt like we were racially judged as we walked into the hotel one evening as the concierge asked if we were guests and too see our room key, despite another couple walking in front of us and not getting asked and we had not been asked on any other occasion. I feel this is because we are a mixed race couple.

We stopped over one night at the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel we were surprised to have to pay for car parking which forms part of the hotel (i.e. it is not the NCP next door). Very comfy bed (two single beds put together to create a double), but the room was a bit on the small side overall. You could hear other room occupants through the ceiling. Bathroom was nice and functional, with just enough shampoo and conditioner for two people for one night. In the middle of the night, I could hear what sounded like an animal (rodent?) scratching between the walls. At the time of booking the hotel, I had pre-booked a three course meal in the restaurant for my wife and I totaling £18 per person. We were not informed that there was a party being held at the restaurant that night so only half of the restaurant was available for seating (the window seats were not available), there was three large tables full of party guests in the restaurant and a DJ playing music near to our table. Table service took a surprising amount of time, even though apart from us two, there was only another table of four to be waited upon. Ketchup was served in sachets (not what you expect from a hotel) and we were limited to three handed to us by the waitress. We were told that we could spend up to £22 per person on the a la carte menu, or there was a set menu from which we could choose our meal. The set menu had three choices of starts, mains and desserts. Out of the choice of mains, only two were actually available. So we had to spend time to work out which meals in the a la carte menu added up to £22. After service, we were presented with a bill which included service charge on the dinner (for which we had already pre-paid prior to arrival at the hotel). We were asked to sign the bill and were told that it would be logged against our room. However, upon leaving the hotel, the reception staff tried to charge us yet again for the dinner. It was embarrassing having to explain to staff in front of other guests at the next counter that we had pre-paid for the dinner and had not been given a receipt to retain from the restaurant.

We stay the same two nights every year for last ten years . We ate in restaurants for first time and were annoyed that. The bill includes a service charge. We would have given same amount as tip but would like to make that choice . I thought it had to be certain amount of people for this to be done not just two.otherwise lovely stay
