« One Night Stayover! »

I stayed over for one night with my daughter (19 yo) for a girly shopping trip. The welcome by the concierge and receptionist was excellent. They were friendly and helpful. We passed the concierge on several occasions during our stay and he was always very friend, remembered who we were and where we had been and asked us about our day and experience of Manchester. The location of the hotel was fantastic. A short distance from the shopping centre, as well as restaurants and bars too numerous to mention. The room was big and clean. The beds were very comfortable. We had a nightcap in the Level 3 bar and again the barman was extremely polite and friendly. The breakfast was fantastic with hot and cold food, fruit juices and as much tea and coffee as you wished (even to takeaway). I would definitely recommend the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly and indeed plan to visit Manchester with my husband in the near future. Thank you.

Good Points = clean, modern hotel with excellent staff. Great city centre location, pleasant bar/restaurant, great breakfast. Bad Points = 1. No fridge or safe in room. 2. No extractor fan in bathroom so steams up when showering. 3. Problematic key/lift operation. 4. Slow WiFi. 5. Non adjustable room temperature......it was to cold.

« Room standard was good but the noise from Lift was unbearable »

Check-in, room and breakfast were all of a good to high standard. However being in a room opposite the lifts meant a night of doors opening and closing, dinging of lift and what can only be described as the lift mechanism being operated into the early hours.

The first room was grubby, window sills very dirty with dead flies, especially the cracked wet room which was dirty. On 2nd day around 9pm to 10pm had to move rooms due to broken toilet seat. No help moving luggage or anything to help move items. The new rooms air con was not the best either. The breakfast which was paid for was not cooked to the best. eg the bacon was cooked on one side and not on the other. Also all the bacon is placed in a tray with about 50 plus pieces of bacon all swimming in fat. the variety of food was good . The chef in the kitchen with the long ponytail should have his hair in a hair net due to food standards, which my evening order had a hair in. Checked receipt it was a single. Staff quiet argumentative and don't listen The manager of the restaurant on the night shift was happy to greet me but after I explained the chips where not the best he done his best to avoid me and get his members of staff to take the feedback. Basically happy for praise but not dissatisfaction. Pillows provided where hard as a street curb. Had chewing gum on bed duvet twice in 2 days. Overall I expect better for four stars.

I have returned to the hotel several time as I find it clean and friendly. The rooms are a bit small and at times the sound insulation isn't great. The Wifi in the rooms is a bit weak too. So thats the negatives out of the way. The staff are friendly, particularly Erika in the breakfast room and Richard on reception. The beds are comfy and the bathrooms a convenient size. The location is great too. We walk to all the main attractions from here. Breakfast is plentiful and tasty. So a very good base for a business or leisure trip to Manchester

« Room a bit tired »

Took 3 attempts to gain access to my room, the door did not respond to the key. The room seemed a little tired, wear and tear around the bathroom. Room door has a bit of give when closed. There are no plug points near the bed for charging phones The TV only had 5 channels, bbc1 bbc2 itv1 channel4 and channel5. Is it 1998 or what? There’s no double glazing, so room was not as quiet as it could be, noise from trams and other activity on the street
