« Could be better! »

Not very impressed at all. Very tired appearance and in room wallpaper coming off wall and bath wooden side distorted with dampness and falling off. Evening food served on cold plates so only warm! Checking out took about 30 minutes and staff still not complete all the paperwork due to systems non-compatibility?

« Excellent Hospitality »

Reception, gentlemen who were working in the bar were extremely polite and welcoming- including the children. Sadly a female staff member who was at the end of shift did use language that I choose not to use in front of children. I don't think she was aware if them being there. On returning to the bar later, both men were working and it was a very pleasant environment. Drinks were served impeccably and it felt family friendly even though there were adult groups/ couples present too. Staff in swimming pool area again were helpful and informative. Breakfast was lovely- again polite and helpful staff. Excellent choice and quality. Room was good (bathroom was very good). Please check radiators for drink spillages if the table is nearby. The hospitality tray and toiletries provided were excellent. I strongly advise that the kettle and hospitality tray is moved. The lead was fixed in the wall at a low height- perfect for children being scalded. I tried to move to the higher shelf (near mirror) but because the cable was fixed, the boiled/ boiling water would spill when unplugged. I would happily stay at this hotel or other Mecures based upon this experience. I would recommend this hotel to friends/ family.

« Poor service and basic but clean rooms »

We paid for early check in as we were staying here on our wedding night (evening of 7th April) My now husband came to be hotel around 11am to drop the bags off and check the room was nice. He couldn’t actually check in as the room wasn’t ready and wasn’t given a key, but left the bags behind the counter. After our wedding finished, we arrived at the hotel around 12.45am. We waited a while for anyone to notice us stood at the desk, but eventually we got a key. We got to our room and there were no bags there so my husband had to go back to reception to bring the bags to the room himself. I was disappointed because we had paid quite a bit extra for early check in to make sure our stuff was in the room ready for a nice evening after our wedding. I would like a reply about this generally poor experience, my email is am… On the plus side the room was clean and the breakfast was good.

« Good location, okay room but needed better cleaning »

Great location, easy to get to straight off the motorway. Needs better signage for parking though there is plenty. Roads on site are awful, plenty of potholes. Nice hotel and staff on reception, room was decent but needed cleaning. Bed linen and runner were dirty and needed a good hoovering as there were bits of all sorts all of rubbish around.

Nice friendly atmosphere and surroundings. Leisure facilities and pool very good. Bar prices a bit high and no Sky/BT sports available in bar area - both disappointing aspects. Restaurant very good both for dinner and breakfast. Staff very helpful.

I recently stayed here for 2 nights with my wife, not a good visit + Good rate +Room upgrade +Food -Poor staff at the bar, not very professional and forgetful -No house keeping for 3 days, issue with milk no stay seemed to know were any milk was,took an hour on day 1 for extra milk and nearly an hour on day 2 for extra milk -Bad breakfast experience, staff not very nice serving and welcome, we felt as if we were a burden,ask for fried eggs and the server was put out and didn't say a thing went brought to table, felt she didn't want us to be there So overall not a got visit. I have stayed in many Mercure hotels (over 300 nights across the country) and can say this was my worst experince Probably won't return to Bolton

I have personally looked into this matter as this is not our norm of our in house Housekeeping team. Through your stay we did had housekeeping on site. On the day of arrival the room is clean and ready for you to enjoy, unless something is requested housekeeping will not go to the room on the first night. On your second day our Housekeeping went several times through the day and a Do Not Disturb sign was outside the door, therefore housekeeping will not go in. Your third day was your departure day. I have also shared your feedback with our Food and Beverage Manager as normally we have extremely positive feedback in our Food and Beverage team. So problems with the keycard. Very slow to go green. Shower was useless-people pee quicker than water that dribbles out of that. Ironing board with a cover that won’t stay on. Comfortable bed however.

Hotel very nice Staff great, room lovely. Other Guest you had staying partying all night. Large party, people knocking on my door in the early hours. Shouting and misbehaving. I know it is hard to control drunken people but you sold them the drink and I had an important days work the following day with very little sleep.
