Roof leaking buckets everywhere, dirty cups left 20 hours on tables upstairs in foyer. Dining room not open and wasn’t informed. Mediocre found. Very disappointing fir a birthday treat. Left As soon as possible the next morning. P. S the staff were lovely

Second time I've stayed here and once again, staff were fantastic. Special mentions to Irene in the bar and Ashley on reception who were always polite, hospitable and went out of their way to help with any queries we had. As a gold Accor member, it was a little awkward having to ask for our welcome drink. Maybe the system needs updating in order to inform staff about membership status. The rooms were clean but definitely need modernising. They were also very hot even with the window wide open and the fan on which was provided to us. Overall, satisfied with our stay and will be sure to consider this hotel again when I'm next in the area.

Very nice hotel , easy to find, have loads parking on site. Very quite , no noise from road. Restaurant food was very lovely. Reception was very friendly and efficient- I was checked in in few minutes after arriving and taking I was 3rd in queue at desk.

Tiring. the Privilege room was anything of the sort. It smelt of cigarette smoke, the carpet in the middle of the room was loose and bulging up in the middle, the double glazed window units were clearly (no pun intended) old and were compromised as there was condensation in the middle of the units, when opened we had to contend with the noise of copious air conditioning units, hardly relaxing or enjoyable. The toilet seat was clearly a cheap replacement and not a good colour match. The 'feature' wall between the bed / sitting space was bare which only added to the 'youth hostel' feel. We unfortunately stayed whilst a wedding was taking place and this no doubt added to the vast volume of cigarette butt-ends strewn all around the entrances to the rear of the hotel. The staff were friendly on the whole, were not rude but not in full possession of the facts; we had asked where to have breakfast as we had a dog with us and appreciated that not all diners liked the prospect of sharing an eating space with a dog, no matter how well behaved. We were informed that as a dog friendly hotel it would be ok to have breakfast in the breakfast room. However we were informed after leaving from breakfast that dogs were not allowed in the restaurant. We didn't have a problem with this but were surprised that so many other members of staff had walked past, smiled and commented at the dog, sitting in the restaurant. The breakfast selection was shameful, its fine if you want to eat a traditional breakfast but not much else on offer as regards an alternative or healthy option. I paid for the breakfast on top of the privilege room rate and ate an apple. The car park had a number of empty and at least two smashed glasses in on the Sunday morning.

Check in was efficient and quick, receptionist friendly however I wasn't offered the option to upgrade my stay and add breakfast, luckily I was told by another guest of the reduced rate if you added it the night before. The room was ok, the skirting around the top of the wall and the headboard were thick with dust, window was left open to deal with the heat of the building itself probably due to the swimming pool and sauna. Breakfast was so bad I didn't even bother going back the next day, the beans had been burnt the taste of burnt foil completely ruined my breakfast. Went and got another plate, the bacon was tough and some parts burned, the sausages were undercooked, black pudding overdone. Later in the evening there was a second wedding going on at the same time as ours which was full of quite aggressive guests who were fighting, swearing, spitting and falling all over the place in the concourse which made me very apprehensive about walking about outside out function room. Main bar understaffed, one woman trying to serve everyone was just not enough, none of the managers seemed to want to jump in and help out which was out of order on this poor lady having to deal with the grumbles and moans from the bar. Air con unit in function room leaked all over my shirt and when the lights went back up I noticed all the water damage on the ceiling. Swimming pool was nice, as were the staff. Function staff were fantastic.

Had some issues getting into the room with both room cards, so suspect some of the key locks need maintenance or replacing. Room was fine for us. Opportunities for eating at the hotel seem a bit limited, so we ate there one evening then went out a second evening.

We booked a one night stay in a classic double room through the Mercure website. Personally choose this hotel as it looked like it had boutique vibes. On our arrival we were given room 443. Our first impression was the room was much smaller than we were expecting and looked nothing like the photos online. Instead it was old fashioned and we felt like we had gone back in time. Definitely not stylish like they state on the website. Secondly, our room was on the top floor and faced the main road. Again, the website states most rooms have a view of the countryside, we did not have a nice view. The website also states you will have a great night's sleep. Due to the noise from the A6, myself and my partner were unable to sleep. There were lorries going past all night long. Request a room at the back of the hotel. The mattress was comfortable at least. The room was really hot due to there being a heatwave and no air con or fan provided. We ordered the room service and it was really good - we ordered the pizza and a beverage for £15.95. The spa/pool is free access 8am-9pm I think but we did not use these facilities. Overall really disappointed with the stay, we have contacted the hotel since our departure to give them this feedback.

My check in took far too long and because of this I missed the swimming pool session which I had really been looking forward to after a long hot day at work and travelling. I also found that the rooms had no air con and although I was offered a fan, this barely helped in the sweltering heat of the late evening and stormy night. As I had had a particularly long day and been travelling a while, I decided to order room service. The chap that came up and explained how it works after a brief conversation on the phone was extremely helpful with dropping a menu off (the room didnt have a room service menu - strange) and assisted with my order. The food came in good time and was alright considering what was on offer. My room was positioned above the bar terrace area and because of the temperature I had my window open to help reduce the heat. Because of where my room was positioned, I also had to contend with quite a lot of noise until the revellers using the terrace decided to head off to bed themselves. I cannot complain about the bed in the room, I'd happily use one of your beds at my own home. Very comfy. Once I had woken up ready for my day I decided I needed to use the shower. I can honestly say that it was on par with the worst shower experience I have ever had at any hotel I have stayed in. There was barely any power and it was so cramped in the room that it felt like a bit of a joke. Once I had finished getting ready I decided to go for beakfast. I was quite disappointed with the food on offer. The fruit wasn't what I would call appealing, the cooked items weren't exactly appetising and when I asked for some poached eggs to go with my breakfast (the fried eggs on offer looked to have been so over cooked it was untrue) I had finished my breakfast before your attendant had come over to apologise for the delay. Safe to say I didnt get my eggs in the morning. Once I had finished my breakfast I went back up to the room to gather my belongings to check out. This was fairly pain free, although all I actually did was drop my key at reception after deciding a hasty exit would be best. All in all I would say that I had an overall negative experience with the highlight being the bed in the room.
