Friendly staff and charming hotel. Great location. Afternoon tea was delicious. The only concern was the hotel room was very warm. The fan we were given helped, but it took almost all day to cool the room down when we checked in. I did not realize there was no A/C. Comfortable room otherwise. Nice beds.

« Less Level than Expectation. »

Less selection of Breakfast from experience I have with Accor Group. The breakfast room is a bit like normal food café while outside in the lobby or other dinning rooms are more beautiful and warm environment. Hallway for walking to the mews rooms area does not look as level of Accor standard. Lift was out of service for many days. I has ask for more bath gel due to I stayed with my son. Never get it right. Always had to go down and pick it up myself in the evening when I came back. Staff are nice and welcome, especially at the Breakfast time.

Hotel itself was dated, but ok. The staff were super helpful and friendly. It’s quite expensive, but in line with the prices for Brighton. The room was basic and quite small, but The bed was comfy. Car parking was extra on arrival and the car park is tiny and full.

A fine boutique hotel at the far end of the beach road. Dissapointing that Sky News was not available on Freeview. Note, there is the main hotel and a huge, cheaper, block of rooms behind. Lift not working properly and it looked like a long term thing

Staff were helpful and location good, however the parking is more expensive than if you were to just park on the road opposite also space are EXTREMELY limited (I think there are about 10?!), the front entrance is fab but then as soon as you walk through the door it declines in quality. The lift wasn't working and on the hottest day of the year, neither was the aircon. You cant leave windows open because of security as they open straight onto a shared outdoor space. No fridge in room.

Excellent location, stunning room, beautiful view. Lack of adequate wheelchair access was a problem which could have been easily resolved. A ramp or chair lift at the front of the building leading to the door of the bar would have avoided having to push the wheelchair along a bumpy road with no pavements to the rear doors, which didn't open automatically. Similarly, A ramp or hydraulic lift in the lobby to get up the steps to the lift would have been helpful. The décor in the bedroom and bathroom were outstanding, but the layout of the bathroom left a lot to be desired. The huge sink made access to the shower difficult and guests with fuller figures or mobility impairement would not have been able to access it at all! The selection of drinks at the bar was most disappointing.

Dirty table, dirty mugs, bits in milk... when I asked to be moved, they just flipped a dirty tablecloth on another table. Not the standards I am used to with the Mercure and a whole new take on a dirty weekend in Brighton. Did email these comments, but didn't get a response.

Reception is poorly signposted when coming from the car park and the desk is too small to allow any privacy. Our room was very small. The desk meant that it was hard to walk around the bed at all. There was an Aircon unit, but it didn't work. We called reception only to be told that they didn't work, you were told there was no Aircon, it doesn't say Aircon on the website. No, it didn't explicitly say Aircon, but it didn't say none either. Also the unit on the wall would imply that there was indeed Aircon! They sent a fan, but due to the size of the room, the furniture and the limited number of plugs, it was challenging! On the Saturday our room had not been serviced when we came back at 3.15pm. I called reception to let them know and to ask for towels, toiletries and coffee sachets to be sent up please. At 4.30pm, the chambermaids knocked - the message hadn't reached them and we were getting ready to go out so the room didn't get done. The decor was new, but the bathroom had a chipped sink and bath and the tiles behind the door were dirty. The water pressure for the shower was poor. WiFi signal was not limited. Certainly not super fast internet!

The breakfast was terrible! When we checked in the man behind the desk said that we did not have breakfast despite paying extra for it. In the morning I asked if my name was on the list and it was. We celebrated erm getting back together which involved a lot of erm physical activity. The aircon did not work in our room or at least we could not use it. Thankfully the windows opened very far. Please fix the aircon in future. We were up for 4/5 hours doing exercise and aircon would have helped!!

We booked through a gift website for a 2 night B & B stay at the Mercure, Brighton. The hotel is ideally situated on the seafront but unfortunately we were allotted a rear facing room. The room was quite small but had been refurbished and was quite comfortable. The breakfast was fine but the bar prices were expensive. We had tea and coffee making facilities in our room but no biscuits. Also we expected bottled water to be provided but Reception told us to buy it in the bar. We booked car parking through a parking website and were pleased to find that our space was right next door to the hotel. It was cheaper too! I am currently using crutches but was disappointed in the absence of disable facilities. Overall my wife and I enjoyed our short stay and would be happy to return.

Parking & checking in very easy, staff on the desk couldn't be more helpful. Staff for breakfast were very nice, breakfast was nice as well although we was told everything was gluten free other than fried bread which wasn't the case. I have Coeliac's disease which didn't feel me with confidence as to what to eat so i just had bacon and egg with my own roll. I was offered the bread and that could be toasted but normal bread was being used so that would make me ill. More knowledge needed around the issue and seemed quite behind compared to other chains we have stayed in. The room looked absolutely lovely but was far too hot over night, the outside temp in the day was only 23 so it should have cooled down. We was offered another fan but it really wouldn't have made a difference! Couldn't have a cool shower in the morning as the water didn't go down that low and only came out of the shower hot.

The hotel is located in a really nice place, just in front of the beach. It's quite old, but restored in a modern way. The weakest point of my visit was definitely breakfast that was really poor and there was no choice to choose from.

Nice hotel reception and very friendly staff. The room wasn't so nice since despite it was 28 C degrees outside, the heating in bathroom was on. It was extremely hot. The place for suitcase was lacking.

The towel rail in your room is not heated. However the mirror has a heating element to demist the mirror. So when the bathroom light is on the mirror is on. The staff were friendly and informative. My room was lovely and clean and roomy. It was very useful having a fan for the night-time, but on the Saturday we returned to find the air conditioning system working keeping the room cool. The entrance to the hotel (decor) was charming and welcoming whilst the bar staff were efficient and friendly.

A very pleasant stay with extremely friendly and helpful staff-congratulations! The décor ,where completed was good and stylish ; however, evidence of ongoing renovation work was evident and caused frustration such as the ridiculously slow response time on the lift door closing mechanism .
