« A Most Enjoyable Weekend Break in Ayr »

We went as a couple on a "Discovery Break" special deal over the weekend 12th to 14th July. The deal being dinner on a night of your choice and a full breakfast on both morning's. The price of which was very appealing. Our room was fine, spacious and clean. Reception staff were efficient and courteous throughout. The evening meal and breakfasts were both varied in choice and to our taste. Service in The bar and restuarant was of the highest order, the staff very welcoming. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Previous staus have been great but I was dissapointed with my room this time. The smell from the toilet hit us as soon as we opened the door and persisted throughout our stay. In fact my wife had to go and buy reed diffusers to disguise the smell. Our television did not work properly and I had to repair the cable myself as a request to fix it fell on deaf ears. I also overheard other customers reporting the same problem with their TV's. I know the hotel is being updated but surely you still have to cater for customers whilst the work is carried out. I also had to wait 12 minutes at the bar to be served as no one was in attendance to serve.

The hotel is run down. I have been to this hotel on several occasions over the past 2 years and have seen the already run down establishment turn even worse. The bathrooms smell so terrible, its diffocult to sleep. Bird droppings smeared on the Windows cements the dirty image. I am definitely asking our corporate travel department to remove this hotel from our list.

I visited this hotel with an open mind as I don't normally go to 3 star. Had my niece's kids with me and needs a small pool as they don't swim well. Couldn't have asked for anything better,fab wee pool to keep my eye on them. They loved it and want to go back....soon lol. Showers really need an update and changing rooms. Overall it was good. Staff I have to say we're very attentive to kids especially girl by pool,taking time to chat and reassuring Me she was there for help and she also gave as little arm floats to borrow,so kind. Staff at reception very welcoming too and service with a smile. Well done to management as this is why people return.

The bed was comfortable and the shower was good, which is all I really required of this stay. I was, however, extremely surprised at how badly the room smelt of stale cigarettes. This felt very outdated and was quite unpleasant.

As always we enjoyed our stay at the Mercure, however when we arrived the Reception Manager only had us for a 1 night stay,, I had booked and reserved a second night which she eventually found on her system, I had also telephoned previously to have our Dinner on the second evening which was agreed, this also was not on the system, but we also got this sorted out, not a good start to our stay. When we got to the room there were not towels or toiletries, the room had not been finished, again we got this sorted out, the point of this we should not have had to go through any of this. Our room location was perfect and we thank you for this. We always enjoy our stay at the Mercure but feel it needs a lot of upgrading etc.

Bathroom bin rusty, counter Brocken carpets old and stained chair in room stained. Pool tiles covered in green algae, ceiling tiles falli g down, paint peeling, tiles looked flamamle.vsyaff nice but not knowledge able about needing to lend not one pound coins for lockets I spent 10 minutes trying to get my stuff locked up Glasgow location great Ayr location definitely requires a lot of love.

As business accommodation I would consider it adequate. It is clear that the hotel needs some refurbishment. The whole facility has seen better days. Noise- the door opening mechanism does not close the door in a manner that prevents a loud bang and wakes you up. Noise attenuation in corridors is very inadequate. Furnishings are tired and dated and bathrooms similar.

What i found disappointing was the very small double room. The double bed was only accessible by one side of the bed as it was put against the wall, causing awkwardness. The carpet was well worn and discoloured. The chair and desk also matched the 'worn out look'. I felt it really needed some updating. We had a TV in our room although I could not locate the remote. I asked the front desk member of staff and he told me they would send up a replacement. The replacement never turned up so my husband went down to ask for an update to which we were told we would receive a phone call to our room when it was on its way. Unfortunately who ever stole the remote also stole the room telephone. The member of staff was also notified of this. We never received a replacement remote in the end. We couldn't understand why this was not reported when the room was cleaned after the last guests? Surely when cleaning the desk the cleaner would have noticed there was no phone. We were there to have a couples retreat but found ourselves trying to fill as much time as possible outside the hotel and we really were not a fan of the room at all.

As a person who has spent many years and enjoy full stays at your hotel I was really let down with the standards of this hotel our exclusive first room resulted inpart of a ceiling falling down on my sons head who is 6 years old resulting in thing a part of that was rubbed in his eye resulting in a total Bloch of blood shot eye duty manager couldn’t help enough bearing in mind never took a accident report and happily moved us to another room along the corridor then when we went to pull the sofa bed out it was snapped but doctored by mastic tape and all broken baring in mind I have stayed at this hotel for years in cheeper rooms and never experienced the negligence I have in a executive suit (supposedly) my sons eye is just clearing up but still not right we got half what was payed back this was a present for my 40th birthday my partner also tried to open the window of the room we got moved to and the handle came of in his hand I am not very happy with your values as a hotel we have spent many of happy times I would also make my friends family etc who also use this hotel to reconsider your sincerely Leanne M.
