No air conditioning, and the fan was not working. we had to buy our own fan, the rooms are very outdated and a strange smell lingered in the hallway. Breakfast was good and the lady who served me was perfect and amazing. I was given gluten bread and it was perfect, more variety of continental breakfast would give the hotel 5stars

Room very quiet and comfortable although maybe a bit expensive. Breakfast was poor. The hot items had been left out and looked very unappetising although it was only 8am. Poor selection of fruit and little choice of bread

Unfortunately in this heatwave summer having no air conditioning or air-cooling fans (as opposed to air-moving fans ) made the stay uncomfortably hot. There are almost no sockets in the rooms so you cannot charge things easily or move the fan nearer the bed. And I would have expected a few more freebies than a shampoo and shower gel and a bar of soap quite honestly.

Reception staff and others very polite and helpful. Room nice, could have done with air conditioning as windows only opened slightly though. Breakfast was lovely but again very warm in there as no windows open. Easy parking and lovely surroundings so a pleasant one night stop, thank you.

Reception on arrival was welcoming. My room was clean and reasonably well presented. The bathroom just about worked although it looked to be on its last legs. The high point of the room experience was the house martins nesting in the eves above the window whose chatter as they went about feeding their brood was wonderful. The dining experience was well below my expectations. The food was very average and seemed to be prepared without any love and care and so not a dining experience I would want to repeat. The breakfast experience was marred by a very bad tempered manager who seemed to resent the presence of guests. She clearly wanted to do her shift and escape. The buffet breakfast was as unacceptably bad as many other hotel breakfast buffets I have experienced but not necessarily the worst but please try harder to serve the food luke warm at least. The general fabric of the hotel seemed tired, threadbare and uncared for over a long period of time and suggested that you were sweating this wonderful ly proud building for as long as you could until it fell apart through lack of investment in its infrastructure. I doubt I would want to repeat my experience if no radical changes are made. I'm sure you know all this so I don't understand why you are pestering me to tell you what you must know already.

« Second stay, for second sons wedding! »

I had a very good time. As usual the gardens were lovely, especially in the warm weather, and i even found somewhere quiet to go for a nap! The setting for the weeding was very nice in the conservatory. The young lady on receptin was very friedly, and Jordan on the bar was extremely helpful. One comment though, i know you have a lot of overheads, but 38 quid for a bottle of Campo Rioja is a tad outrageous!
