« The room was far too hot, and the sauna and jacuzzi were not working in the leisure centre. »

We booked a suite and it was very hot, we couldn't open the windows very far because of the restrictors. It must be a problem because we found some eletric fans in the Wardrobe, we tried putting one on but it was so noisy we couldn't sleep. Both the mens sauna and the jacuzzi in the leisure centre were not working on the Sunday morning which was disappointing. half the pool was cordoned off for swimming lessons. so there wasn't a lot to do , so we only stayed for 15 mins I was hoping to spend a good hour or so down there. Overall it was meant to be a special weekend, it turned out too be very dissapointing.

« Pleasant but small improvements needed »

Staff were helpful and pleasant. Room was ok but bathroom a bit small and decor tired. Insufficient daytime meals for someone that doesn’t want to eat gluten plus drinks are very expensive

« Nice hotel, bit dated and quite expensive »

The rooms are adequate but a bit dated but comfortable.Dont think it should be a 4 star more a 3. Plus it's all a bit expensive. Wasn't very impressed with the barman when we ordered food, needs to brush up on his customer service skills

« Ok but dated rooms and over priced »

Staff very friendly, very disappointed with the breakfast offering, only one coffee machine that needed constant attention. Felt the breakfast buffet of sausages, bacon was over cooked , none of the cooked selection looked very appetising.

Absolutely the best spa break we've had in a long time. Staff are extremely kind and courteous. Nothing was too much trouble. Gym facilities and staff are great and knowledgeable. Swimming pool, steam and loungers are together but sauna in each the men's and ladies changing rooms. Jacuzzi was not working which was the only downside to the weekend. Rooms well equipped with hairdryer, iron, ironing board, oscillating fan, tv, phone and tea and coffee making facilities. Bed huge and very comfortable Food was amazing, staff again very kind, polite and courteous. All in all a great break away and we will be returning

« lovely »

we had a good time thank you it would have been better if the hot tub was working we were really looking forward to using it. Did you know your keys open more than one locker? Would have loved to be able to have lactose free milk but will remember to bring my own if we stay again and our own biscuits as there was none in the room, any chance you can have jelly added to your menu as I cannot eat wheat or gluten the only thing on the menu for me was pears and I cannot eat them

« underwhelmed »

At close to £200 a night, we were expecting something special. Dirty bed linen, inedible dinner and woken at 5am by staff sweeping the courtyard!

« Hot »

Lovely hotel & breakfast but just too hot to sleep with no air con.

« Massively below expectations »

A few sentences isn’t enough to describe our experience. I booked a spa break for my girlfriend on her birthday, it was made all the more important for a relaxing break due to her father sadly passing away unexpectedly last weekend. She was still very keen to go just to try and get her mind off the sorrow and heartache. I booked 3 treatments these were exceptional and the lady who carried these out was certainly a 10 star, very courteous and informative. We walked in, i advised we had a spa break but also needed to check in, we were sent to the feel good health club. We arrived at that desk and were then sent through to the Elymis Spa waiting lounge, I was informed on the phone that our bookings were for 1pm but on speaking to the lady after a little wait she advised it was 2. However she was the only person that was helpful, she sent us back to the main reception and also that we can get lockers/towels and just use the facilities while we wait. We appreciated she was a staff member light and her mannerisms were very applaudable. Sadly the very beginning of the experience we got pushed from pillar to post in a time where help would of been greatly appreciated. We had the treatments and then were a hugely disappointed to find the hot tub was out of action, then another group of hotel users coming into the pool area to jump (bomb) in the pool and mess around, no staff around to advise otherwise. Due to this we swiftly vacated to our room, lovely room and suitable for our stay. We had dinner booked for 7, but thought we would venture down to the bar area and have a drink or 2 before dinner. We then met a huge queue only to find out it was a Tyson Fury meet and great evening, no pre-warning of this at all and made us feel all the more uncomfortable. We got a table for dinner earlier as the bar area was rammed, ordered food and drinks and then waited. It felt like an entirety for the nibbles we ordered when usually nibbles arrive relatively quick but again we understood it might of been a little busy. Unfortunately for us and I suppose for you the mains we ordered for just disappointing, hugely underwhelming. The chicken stuffed with Brie, chorizo and tomatoes was so dry/over cooked and my burger again tasted burnt, dry and flavourless. It was such a shame when we had heard such good reviews of this spa / hotel. However again the service was very good considering an air ambulance also landed in the grounds to attend to a serious accident outside on the road. We got into bed around 10pm and had a rather disturbed night with people moving up and down the corridors, the last time i recall being woken up was at 2am again but people running up the corridors talking about Tyson Fury. If I had known it was a meet night I might have avoided as the whole break was not relaxing at all and most of the staff faced were some what unhelpful and unprofessional to deal with in the circumstances. This review I would just like to say is not based on the spa treatments we received the lady there was fantastic and the treatments wonderful and also the service given in the restaurant from another lady was also commendable.

Very pleasant staff, very dog friendly, good food, good wine, very comfortable bed, the peacocks roosting just outside our bedroom window were not too bad!!!!! only shouting early evening and early morning.

A pleasant stay. Lovely grounds, plenty of parking, good location close to motorway junction. Polite staff, lovely room but very hot. A fan was provided quickly on request. Comfortable dining, lounge area.

« Standard hotel with great grounds. »

We were grateful the receptionist moved our room on arrival from the airport as we needed to get changed for the funeral quickly. Unfortunately the room was some distance from reception and not served by a close proximity lift. ( the receptionist did explain it was further as I was on crutches ). The hotel has obviously been updated in parts and I imagine this redevelopment will be rolled out across the hotel. Therefore room charges would have an equity of standards. The room was small and very very warm. We didn’t realise there was a fan in the very back of the wardrobe until the last morning. It wouldn’t have been helpful to tell us this was available. For our length of stay the furniture was adequate. It would be harder if we were staying late longer. The shower was good but I found it very hard to negotiate getting out of the shower without a handle. The towel rail was not sturdy enough to support holding securely. We did not have breakfast so cannot comment. We ate dinner with our group and there was a good range though vegetarian options limited. The hotel was clean and the cleaning staff were quick and maintained the room well. Other Staff ( reception bar restaurant ) were efficient though not overly effusive. The views and grounds were exceptionally well maintained.

« plesant stay »

4 nights definitely not cheap but not a million miles from a 'travel lodge' standard, not at all welcoming, on first arrival given door key and told 'lift there and stairs there', no mention of breakfast location, bar area, gym, health club, swimming pool, it was my assumption that all these details would be in a folder in my room as is often the case at other places that we have stayed, it seems very much like a business hotel not very personal, shame as every thing was clean, all the facilities were there when you can find them, breakfast staff and the young bar man were friendly (bar a bit expensive, cheaper drinks would probably of made us spend more instead of going out) all in all it was OK.

Average stay with various niggles

« Dated decor, noisy, not very clean »

The decor in the rooms was dated, the room itself was not clean (marks on the walls, and the bathroom door, carpet in need of a good clean). Guests with dogs would left them alone in the room and the dogs barked for 90 minutes non stop. Breakfast was good. Staff not very engaging.

« Birthday night here »

We enjoyed our stay lovely staff and food. Only down side was the room was boiling on a very hot day and the window could only open so far and no air con but it wasnt a major issue.

« Friendly »

We were welcomed with the words"congratulations on your double celebrations". Which was nice. We were again congratulated when we entered the dining area on the Evening of the 29th. What surprised us was the fact with all that congratulating, we were not offered some token of a toast/drink. Overall our stay was pleasant.
