My partner and I stayed here as part of my 50th birthday holiday , i would definately stay here again and have no hesitation in referring to others however there were a few things that detract from the score of 10 Firstly the fragrance is excessive and overpowering as you enter, checkin was smooth and uneventful and very professionally done , arriving at the room it is a well presented and clean but perhaps dated in style , things to note specifically, there was a welcome card with Mr and Mrs d. on it with a welcoming message this gesture is appreciated but my partner is a man therefore perhaps best not to assume , * the door to the cabinet under the sink diddnt close properly , * the surround of the sink specifically the area at the top of the sink had water damage under the glass and is rather unattractive , * the room amenities list in the wardrobe stated two robes in the room but there was initially only one in the bathroom and it was a ratty old thing we asked housekeeping several days later to give us the second one we diddnt need it but i diddn’t want to be charged for taking something that wasnt there also no umbrella in the room as stated , we did address this to front desk who offered to get them replaced but my point to the lady at the desk was if they are noted they should be there , a lesson for the room supervisor to check the rooms more thoroughly to avoid this situation Other issues * the air vent on the wall above the bathroom door is in dire need of a vacuum, * the wallpaper in the bathroom is lifting in several places like over the bath and in the space near the toilet ( pictures will be added ) * there is a hole in the wallpaper near the toilet that appears to be the top of a screw , * the toilet diddnt flush properly it is a terrible design that meant you needed to flush it multiple times mor an annoyance than anything else * pool area. The pool door doesnt close unless pushed shut , there is some sort of algae growing in both the pool and hot tub and seriously unattractive maintenance need to address that as a batter of urgency it is not a good look , change rooms there were several coat hangers on top of the men’s lockers that stayed there the duration of my stay and this was advised to front desk on the Sunday 30th when i had to ask for the second day in a row to have the steam room turned on on Saturday i had been fir a swim and was wanting to use sauba and steam room and on going there found it not working and no button to press to activate a guest there noted it wasn’t working the day before either i advised him maybe you need to ask So i went to front desk and asked the night manager and he switched it on all good The next day Sunday i go for swim gym etc see the same guests oat or around 7:30 finished swim go to use sauna and steam room and again not on A different guest comments it wasnt on yesterday either , somewhat annoyed i approach front desk soeak to female staff member snd ask to have it turned on dhe advises its on a timer and they normally turn it on at 8:30. My response if the area opens at 5:30 it should be on then as it is inconvenient to have to ask all the time , there is no notice in the area stating this so any guest would rightfully assume it operates from opening time , later i had forgotten the code on the locker and had to ask for it to be unlicked at this time i asked if a wet floor sighn could be placed in the passageway as people leaving the pool to the change rooms wet the floor and it was a potential slip hazard , i also advised of the coat hangers on top of the lockers and she assured me she would pass it on , hoever i returned to the area later in the evening around 7:00 pm with my partner we used gym pool and the sauna in the change room i observed no wet floor sign then noticed the cleaner cones in at or around 20:00 As i was advised the area is open until 10pm it is strange to clean it early when ideally it should be done after closing to ensure the space is clean for morning guests, I observed the fire door opposite the mens change room chocked open giving access from the opposite fire door therefore people could access the space from there rather than use their room card at the designated entrance this seemed intentional as the door was chocked open each day There was also a very dirty patch on the mens locker room door from people pushing it open and clearly not cleaned in some time added to this the wooden floors in the change rooms were poorly cleaned with dust and even feathers there for several days Honestly for a property of this standard there are several shortcomings, i have been in the hospitality industry for almost 30 years and almost all of that time in housekeeping roles i know how hard it is to look after these areas this is irrelevant but it does mean i see more than the average guest and perhaps my expectations are higher than most as well but as a guest i travel all around the world and stay in many varied hotels and would judge them no differently, sadly from a premium property i would expect that little bit more .

My stay at Sofitel was part business and part pleasure. I sent a note to the hotel informing them that my wife would be joining me on this trip and to change the reservation from 1 person/room to 2 persons/room. When we checked into our room we were pleasantly surprised to find a welcoming platter of fruit and pastry with a nice note from the hotel. Nice touch! Morning exercise is an important part of my daily routine particularly when I travel. Having a sauna and steam is a plus. I was disappointed, on several mornings, when the sauna and steam rooms were not turned on. Apparently they are on a timer and the morning staff was not familiar with their operations. I did notify the desk but did not have the luxury of waiting around until the situation was remedied. I heard similar complaints from other guests in the fitness area.

The service and manner of all staff members is absolutely fantastic - special shout out to Kris at Concierge :) Nothing is too difficult and everyone goes over and above to ensure your stay is memorable. Little touches like the welcome back cake are lovely. The rooms are beautiful and clean and well laid out. I travel a lot for work and I have to say .... this is my favourite hotel. (Dissapointed i didnt stay here sooner .... )
